yep, dd travelled on a passport with her pic of her as a baby, up til she was 4. only got a new one to put in her visa & travel to US. you can choose which passport he travels under, but US ONLY recognise US nationality, not dual, so use US for entering/leaving.

dd just had to say goodbye to her cousins. my mum found her crying in bed after

SuperBunny · 27/06/2009 22:03

That's a relief Kickass, thanks.

Poor DD - is she ok?

I'll do mananny's thing re passports.

I appear to be allergic to something but I don't know what. My lips were all swollen when I woke up this morning and my neck and chest and wrists are all itchy and bumpy

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 28/06/2009 01:33

eek! Take some benadryl now!

alipiggie · 28/06/2009 02:09

KA - you are not resident - sorry if you are on a temporary Visa, make sure you fill in the the white form for Customs Declaration and then go through the non resident channel - speaking from experience, done both now. You can email me at alisonsmits at gmail dot com if you have other questions. Oh and I'm back guys . Not that you'll have missed me. UK was great and great weather compared to CO but I"m soooooooo glad to be home.

SuperBunny · 28/06/2009 02:28

We did miss you Ali! It's so nice that you feel here is home. I love when people have good things to say about the US.

Jabber, I don;t have benadryl so have smothered myself in hydrocortisone and am hoping it will be gone in the morning. I have a day of socialising and I don't want to scare people

Back in the US now. Flight delayed for 2 hours & it was absolutely full, felt very much like cattle herding. now just making my self stay up to try & counterbalance the jet lag. (g&t helping me)

dd was sooooooo pleased to see dh when we got to detroit!! we both keep hugging him.

well, i didn't do the online 'intent to travel' registation thing but got through immigration fine.

for customs i lied & said no food was being brought in. dd looked stright at the man and said 'we haven't got any chocolate biscuits left in the lunch bag really' so i confessed to having biscuits & whiskey from duty free. 'forgot' about the tea, marmite, marzipan, jaffa cakes ...

dh had the house spotless, dd HAD to see all her toys again, by dumping them all over her playroom, I 'unpacked' using a similar method. tidying can wait.

i was so sad to leave, but already glad to be back home.

SuperBunny · 29/06/2009 02:32

Welcome back, Kickass.

I like your unpacking method!

jabberwocky · 29/06/2009 03:25

lol at kickass and the illegal food.

Welcome back!

SB, did your reaction calm down?

SuperBunny · 29/06/2009 03:38

No, it farking didn't My skin is burning, the rash is spreading up my arms and down my fingers and I'm bloody itchy. Tomorrow, I'm going to buy everything that walgreens has to offer in the way of anti-itching stuff. I really want to know what has caused this

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 29/06/2009 03:39

Sorry, I should have thanked you for asking, Jabber. Thank you. I bet you wish you hadn't, now

dooneygirl · 29/06/2009 04:09

I'm sympathy itching for you. Wish I could do something to help.

Welcome back everyone who has left the country. Glad you are all "home" safely.

Took the kids to their first baseball game this weekend. Don't have major leagues, but went to a AAA team that Portland has. It was superhero night, so even better for them. They were so excited, because they both love baseball, they got to stay up late, and eat junk. I think that is the trio of wonderfulness for them.

nooka · 29/06/2009 04:24

We miss baseball! dh keeps getting messages about how badly the Mets are doing, and has suggested a trip to Seattle to see a match there. I'm guessing Seattle would be fun to visit anyway?

SuperBunny · 29/06/2009 04:28

I am sure C & C have a wonderful time. I am not a baseball fan but can see how it could be fun for a couple of hours.

I always wanted to go to Seattle.

Sorry for the sympathy itchinG!

dooneygirl · 29/06/2009 05:22

I love Seattle, nooka. We used to go there all the time pre-kids, and it never got old. We're not taking big vacations this year, as we've decided to put money in the house instead, but we've already decided to go next year, and take the kids to a game, play in Seattle and go to the San Juan Islands, and I'm already really excited.

nooka · 29/06/2009 05:27

We should be able to drive down - I can see if I can combine it with a day or two work in Vancouver, so work can pay for the gas. dh and I need to to go over the border (with temporary work permits you can reset the six months for driving without sitting the BC driving test, which we both forgot to take this month!). So probably looking at a long week end.

jabberwocky · 29/06/2009 17:50

Bunny,

I am not at all pleased that you are still itching. Get some benadryl at the very least or head over to a minute clinic and get a medrol dose pack (low dose steroids). The swollen lips reaction is a worrisome thing so do your best to try to think what you could have had a reaction to. I would also recommend asking for a prescription for an epipen.

kickassangel · 30/06/2009 00:55

sb how are you? get yourself sorted, imagine turning up for a flight looking like lesley ash! you don't want to be stopped from baording because you're too grotesque?
seriously, hope you're ok.

are you & mananny counting down DAYS now?

mananny · 30/06/2009 01:57

Kickass I am counting down the days, this time next week I will be in London I am slightly unhinged about it all now really.

My room is packed up, I have 3 suitcases, I am nervous about the flight (or rather I am nervous that I will drink so much with my mates at the airport bar that they won't let me on the flight!!)

My lovely bosses are taking me out for a Very Posh Meal tomorrow night, and I am certain I will be sobbing into my lobster...

My last two days with my munchkins will be both happy and sad, I want to have loads of fun with them and laugh lots and hug them every hour on the hour, then I will have to hold it together when I leave so I don't upset them. Any tips on how to not cry???

SuperBunny · 30/06/2009 03:31

Epipen? OMG, that sounds serious! I am ok now - still bumpy but less itchy and my lips now just look chapped rather than totally revolting. I did worry about not being allowed to board the plane if I look all contagious and yucky.

DHL don't have the farking boxes I am required to use so I have to go with Parcel2go. Please keep fingers crossed that they can help otherwise DS is going home with NO toys or books

Mananny, I don't know what to say... good luck! Enjoy your last few days in the US. I know saying goodbye is very sad and hard and, well, . Keep in touch, won't you? and come on here so we know you landed safely.

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 30/06/2009 04:11

I am rather conservative medically but when it gets to the point of swollen lips I worry a lot more.

nooka · 01/07/2009 01:42

Good luck mannany and SB on your departures and flights!

SuperBunny · 01/07/2009 02:49

Thanks Nooka

I have more or less packed our boxes. It seems there is little space for my clothes so I am going with the bare minimum and leaving most of my shoes behind. Who needs shoes? The boxes are all dangerously close to their weight limit, eeek.

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 01/07/2009 03:27

Who needs shoes???!!!!

SuperBunny · 01/07/2009 03:58

Not me!

We'll need a new thread soon.

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 01/07/2009 06:00

There was one of those 'I don't like when people use Americanisms' thread today and I actually felt a bit offended when I read it.

So there, after 6.5 years in the US, I finally feel protective and defensive of it

I am also quite aware that I have a rather strange accent and intonation these days and that I may well be Judged in the UK.
