Have a look at the website, Admylin. I love all the stories about the guys who have been trolling the clubs and pubs for years hoping for the big break.

DH problem with me being online so much was the fact that I was online until late at night. I had a bad time for a few months there, and could not sleep. DH did not understand that I was MN because of the insomnia, and not that I was up so late because I could not bear to leave MN.

We have both been putting more effort into our marriage recently. Although, tbh, I do feel that I have been the one making most of the changes.

Anyway, he is away in Berlin tonight so I thought I would reaquaint myself with MN

admylin · 30/05/2008 21:44

Yes, do keep coming on now and then - you can say you're just checking emails!Actually I usually have 2 browser windows open so if h comes in I can look as if I've been googling something! The shame of it eh!

It can be hard work making a marriage work can't it. we've had ups and downs and I've been on the verge of packing my bags a few times but then we somehow manage to get things back on track!

taipo · 30/05/2008 21:49

lol, I do that to admylin

taipo · 30/05/2008 21:50

too

I think I need to go to bed.

admylin · 30/05/2008 21:52

Good website KS. My sister watches all those things. I'm reduced to watching clips of Ellen or Oprah on youtube as we only have German cable TV so it isn't on for me very often. Dc watch some stuff, dh either watches political discussions or Tele-shop and I have been known to watch the German version of little house on the prairie while ironing in the mornings! Sad.

Kindersurprise · 30/05/2008 22:13

Do you know that you can get some English channels through Kabel Deutschland? I have been job hunting recently and came across this company, a part of Kabel Deutschland.

I don't know exactly what they offer, have a wee look.

We have a sat dish, and it was expensive but I am really glad that we have it.

SSSandy2 · 31/05/2008 08:55

at watching teleshop! I was glued to it one day when they had some American woman with a crazy name - Tassie or Tissie or soemthing selling hairpieces (like swishy ponytails and things). They did look quite good but I know I coud never get them on properly.

LOL at us all trying to hide our MN addiction from suspicious males. Dh can just see it in the online history. I don't know how to wipe it (yet). Funny thing was we were just talking about this last night and I heard the garage door open, so I QUICKLY switched the pc off (so crap and slow it takes ages to shut down). It's like you have some ugly drug addiction or something, isn't it? Please try and outwit dh KS we need you on the thread

Morning!

I have told DH that I am going to continue MNetting, and that I really don't want to feel guilty and secretive about it.

I gave him something to think about, I told him that since he was not around a lot (not just physically, he is often here but a bit absent iykwim) then I have to look elsewhere for adult conversation. I am stuck at home here, most of my friends work so I do get a bit lonely.

I don't really think that there are many men who really understand what MN is to us. I see it as the old village green, somewhere to have a gossip, a laugh, to share stories and gather tips and tricks.

morning fellow 'germans'. glad to see I'm not the only one with a mn-hating dh. I also need to stick to office hours pretty much, so rarely here at weekends You can throw Ikea in with mn - both elicit a similar response.

OMG, this time next week I'll be having a baby .

Admylin - when do you actually move? Are you all organised? I'm still trying to get some urgent stuff organised - eg car still not registered, which means worried car insurance not valid, and need to get step dad on it for next week - looks like I'm going to be busy on phone today. Anyone know good place for car insurance in Germany?

And names of camping shops?

Ds 12 & 2 at IS like I said - very happy with it, tho it feels like a part time job in its own right. Ds3 will start german KG, go this am to sign contract. He started last week at a Spielgruppe - it's only 2 x 2 hrs pw but he is delighted to get away from me, poor little sod, barely any contact with humans - I haven't met anybody since I've been here, so go through the day only with ds3, then ds 1 & 2 get home and it's non stop argy bargy. I'm crap at meeting people - also haven't got boys organised with friends either - the IS is miles away, and they don't reall yhave any opportunity to meet local kids. Not brave enough to do admylin's party idea.

It's gonna be a looong summer

We have got sky tv set up tho.

berolina · 02/06/2008 07:49

hello ernest! bloody hell , you're not due already?

look - I googled 'outdoor münchen' and that came up

Don't know about car insurance - we have been car-free for nearly 3 years now

Anyone else got the joyful prospect of the Steuererklärung stretching before them this fine morning? I know it's late, but I just haven't had chance or space until now, and erfahrungsgemäß they shouldn't send a Mahnung for a week or two.

SSSandy2 · 02/06/2008 08:35

counting down to Ernest's baby. I think we're down to day 8, is that right?

Strandbad Wannsee for me this morning, heading off at 10.

Ernest, when and if you get any energy, register them for a local Sportsverein and get them off your hands in the afternoons.

enjoy sandy! I can't really go or at least stay out in this heat, not with ds2, and it's a bit much for ds1 as well. He has been doing a lot of water play on the balcony.

What a lovely offer re the bike! Thank you! (Just seen it now ) We have just got him a Likeabike so it would probably be waiting for its use for a while, so if somweone else can benefit from it sooner please do give it to them, but otherwise we will gladly have it auf Vorrat Thank you!

admylin · 02/06/2008 09:20

Hi everyone. Wasn't it hot over the weekend, I hate it when it's so hot and couldn't sleep properly either.

Very brave SSSandy, I couldn't face a See or Bad of any sort - it's getting there and back that is the worst in this heat. We#r edefinately showing our Scottish genes, anything over 20 degrees is like a heat wave to us! Dh comes from hot hot India nad he hates it too, says that's one of thereasons he left!

Ernest, I am quite far on in my organisation. I must have a hidden talent as I can't quite believe how much I've already done. Next hurdle is to get ds into the Gymnasium nearest our new flat.Don't want to have to trail him acros stown which is why I flat hunted in areas near to the chosen school. How far do you have to take your dc to school?

Must be hard work not having many friends around especially with baby due. Are you having family over to stay with the other dc for the birth or going it alone? I went alone to have dd as had no one for ds, anyway h would just have got in the way!

For car insurance I would phone around because there are big price differences. Especially those insurance companies you see advertising on TV. I used Württembergische when we had cars and they were good and surprisingly friendly.

admylin · 02/06/2008 09:22

Gawd, you can tell from that typing that I didn't sleep well and ds kept talking to me! He's off school with an awful rash - bright red cheeks (like slapped cheek) and all down his arms too.

SSSandy2 · 02/06/2008 09:30

still here. Wonder what kind of rash that could be admylin

OP posts:
SSSandy2 · 02/06/2008 09:32

actually maybe I can't face getting there and back in the heat! I was dripping with sweat on the way to church yesterday. It was almost unbearable

OP posts:
admylin · 02/06/2008 09:33

No idea, could be an allergy or a virus. Have debated going to the doctor but she is useless and it'll be busy and hot in her waiting room and she'll only give me that finistil rubbish anyway.

SSSandy2 · 02/06/2008 09:35

is it itchy? We got some good stuff for the jellyfish sting which at least stopped the itching. Dd is off today too

OP posts:
admylin · 02/06/2008 09:42

Why is dd off? Yes the rash is itchy - his cheeks look abit swollen too but he says he has no headache, no sore throat etc. Gave him finistil drops and will give him anti histaminepill later if they don't help.

SSSandy2 · 02/06/2008 09:44

dd had immediate relief with Tannoysynt Creme. It's just apothekenpflichtig so you don't need a prescription. Wonder if he could stung by something?

OP posts:
admylin · 02/06/2008 09:48

He was in the garden for a short while yesterday but really short as it was too hot. He complained when he was in bed that his cheek was itching on one side and when I went to wake him this morning it was both cheeks and his arms. Will maybe go to the Apotheke later when I pick dd up.

Caretaker has just been and said we don't have to paint everything, just touch up parts with white paint if needed. H should manage that just fine shouldn't he.

SSSandy2 · 02/06/2008 09:50

oops one y - Tannosynt Creme

OP posts:
admylin · 02/06/2008 09:52

Have googled it - will give it a try, thanks.

ErnestTheBavarian · 02/06/2008 10:30

Hia, thanks for insurance name. Hope dh sorts asap, am now panicking that we won't be covered by our Swiss insurance, and neet to get mum & step dad covered so need it sorting asap.

Boys school is MILES away, but they get the school bus.

Ta for tv recommendation - phoned up and got details of football club that actually fits with thier timetable too, so I'll take them along on Friday, and hopefully they can meet up with other kids.

Am impressed how calm you sound, Admylin.
rash sounds horrible - hope you can get it sorted asap.

I had a nightmare itchy rash for 2 weeks, and wasn't very impressed with docs. My purse took a bit of a battering too
