they give a really good live performance, Califrau!

i'm truly off to bed now dd2 is up as well!

arrgggghh

chickenpox SUCKS

jabberwocky · 13/01/2008 03:20

I thought I was OK with ds1 getting chickenpox and having natural immunity - until he got a rash that I thought was it. Then off to the docs for the jab

alipiggie · 13/01/2008 03:51

Hi everyone. Welcome back Califrau. You need brown paper linings in your shoes to stop jetlag - it works . All quiet in Colorado other than snow and avalanches.

OverRated · 13/01/2008 22:51

Ooo, you've been busy on here today.

Glad you are better, Jabberwocky and congrats on the house. When do you move?

Yuk @ headless stiny skunk. We used to see them all the time in Connecticut (live ones). I always wondered how close you could get without getting sprayed - I managed about 15 feet before I chickened out & backed off.
I like the doll with chickenpox idea. Must remember that. Hope your DD is better soon expat.

Brown paper in the shoes, Ali? . I know people who swear by melatonin. You can buy it in Walgreens.

I spent a lovely afternoon in the scrapbook store punching holes & shapes in paper. Was very satisfying! Does anyone know any good online craft stores? I need some rubber stamps.

And does anyone make peanut butter fudge? I need to make some & don't trust google for recipes.

And why is Desperate Housewives not on?

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 14/01/2008 02:31

No more episodes left due to the writer's strike, I'm afraid. Ugly Betty only has 1 left, and then I'm .

DH loves you for mentioning Walgreens, btw.

My computer had a part fall off of it, and it kept shutting down, but now I have a brand new one, and it is nice to be on the internet for more than 10 minutes at a time.

chocchipcookie · 14/01/2008 02:48

I use www.foodnetwork.com or www.marthastewart.com for US recipes, Overrated.

Hello! As you mentioned Walgreens, just thought some of you might be interested to know that they are doing in English creme eggs again and also doing caramel and orange fondant versions too. I tried them all out just to make sure they were ok! Only bought a few cause I still have my Christmas stash of real Dairy Milk well hidden. Ds found the last of the stuff I brought over with me and finished the lot. I was so upset that dh went straight out that night and replaced it all at rediculous expense. I knew there was a reason I followed him across the world!

Also, our Target has a Boots aisle!! It has a small range of No7, Botanics and Medeterranian products and some other brands that Boots sells at home. I know I can get American versions that are at least as good and cost less but anything that reminds you of home is good, huh? My brother sent me two packets of pickled onion monster munch and I have never enjoyed anything so much in my life!

chocchipcookie · 15/01/2008 03:27

Is that the Wilmington Pike Target, DK? If so I am off there tomorrow! I have to go into downtown Dayton tomorrow which I hate, the one-way system is soo confusing.

at pickled onion monster munch and I don't even like them! My dad gave me some hula hoops for christmas and they were the Best Christmas Treat Ever.

I love the boots aisle in Target. I never buy from it but always walk down it anyway. They sell The Sanctuary Mande Lular lotion too.

Thanks for the links choc chip. It turns out I have no brown sugar so have to wait until I've been shopping.

I quite fancy a caramel egg now. I feel a trip to Walgreens coming on.

Oddly enough, he was standing behind me as I read your post, Cali. He's fine with you missing Boots, as long as you don't like Rite Aid. (we've both worked for them, hate them. Actually that is where we met when he was my boss. . . )

I think we might up and float away. I'm sick of all the rain this year, and I'm a born and raised Oregonian. It doesn't just rain, it pours. Constantly.

I've got my first things coming in the mail that I've ever ordered from Etsy. I was a total stupid-head and didn't update my paypal address from when we moved. (Can't believe I haven't used it in over a year), but got the right address to the seller before she shipped it. Can't wait for my stuff to arrive.

OverRated · 15/01/2008 04:16

What did you order, Dooney? [nosey]

I rarely see RiteAids. It's only Walgreens round here with the occasional CVS. I think you'd like it here, DooneyGirl. And no rain. Just snow. And cold. Cold cold. Brrrr

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 15/01/2008 04:32

I loathe anywhere with tons of Walgreens. DH has to go in each and every one of them to see how bad or good they are. It might be the reason I hate San Fransisco so much, but maybe not. I can only imagine how many are in Chicago, since that is where their corporate headquarters are.

I got 2 necklaces. I'm in the process of totally revamping my wardrobe, (somehow when we lived in the middle of nowhere, I got into a jean and t-shirt frumpy rut) and have a feeling a cheaper way to do that would be to get simple pieces and use accessories to make them more interesting. I have about 20 other ones on my favorites list, but must make small steps.

OverRated · 15/01/2008 04:49

Downtown Chicago is awful - there are Walgreen's on EVERY corner. I have no idea how so many of them manage to survive. I can't believe there is that much demand for them but they always seem really busy.

Necklaces. I like necklaces. Am in a bit of a jeans rut too. But now I only have 2 pairs so desperately need to go shopping. But I hate shopping for trousers/ jeans because I'm the wrong shape.

Quotes Dooney (somehow when we lived in the middle of nowhere, I got into a jean and t-shirt frumpy rut)

Hey, you mean there are other clothes you can buy?

Like that rumour about shoes with heels?

I heard there are actually people who put paint on their fingernails. Amazing.

The high heels is true, I'm afraid but I think the painted fingernails is another vicious rumour. Like there are people who don't like chocolate. And some who get their hair done every six weeks.

Good question, Anorak, where are you?

I could have sworn I saw her here on another thread a day or 2 ago. However, I seem to have a really warped sense of time beyond anything that happened 5 minutes ago.

CCC-I still have a lot of jeans and t-shirts. There is a big difference between [a pair of mom jeans, a top that is 2 sizes too big that is the color of split pea soup, or a shade of really ugly pale purple, a vest that if someone added fishing lures to it, your dad could wear it fishing (MIL got it based on the size of the t-shirt I bought 4 weeks after giving birth when I decided I would never get any smaller) and an ugly pair of white tennis shoes] and [a pair of cute boot-cut jeans with a much lower waist, a black long sleeved t-shirt that is the right size, a vest with a faux-fur trimmed collar and cute metal closures that is again the right size, a cute funky necklace, and a pair of ankle-length black boots.]
