I see all these threads for Aussie people and thought we should have our own thread too. Not sure why, I just felt the need to make us feel special too!

So, who's stateside and where are you?

I'll start:

Mamama - in Chicago

Ooo yes, I did - I put washing up liquid on it, rubbed it in a bit and then stuck it in the wash. It is perfect! Thanks for your help with that. I didn't realise what evil stuff Vaseline could be. Unfortunatley, DS loves it: "Lotion Mummy. More Lotion. I NEEEED Lotion. I do it. All by myself." He then smears it all over his face and proceeds to hug me/ roll on the couch/ bury his face in the lovely blanket I crocheted for him. Don't you just love 2 year olds?!

dooneygirl · 03/12/2007 03:29

Right now I am hiding from mine, because she hasn't stopped whining all weekend. I am trying with all I've got to love 2 year olds right now. Mine do fine with goop and stuff, it is the food that they get me with. Both of them want hugs and kisses right after meals, especially DD, who always asks for a "big huggie mom-mom", and how can you say no to that?

Can any of you all think of a Christmas nickname for me? I see you've (especially Cali) come up with loads of names for others. When I had my other name, mine was Colin saw mommy kissing S. C., but the only thing I can come up with is something like put a Dooney under the tree for me, and that sounds horribly materialistic. I'm no good with anything that requires imagination, hence my perfectly boring other nicknames I had for 3 1/2 years.

OverRated · 03/12/2007 03:43

Ooo yes, foodie hugs. Luvverly

I'm no good with Christmas names. That's Califrau's area. I'm being miserable and not changing. I could only think of ChristmasisOverRated, which seemed a bit bah humbugish.

Anyone seen a good movie recently? I've been appointed movie picker but have no idea what to see. 3 mums. No kids. Any suggestions?

No, you don't need to get out more. I believe we are all gifted in one (or more) areas. And this is your gift. (Or one of your gifts. Actually pretty cakes are your gift also)

You are quite talented SCFrau! I've been a bit paranoid about namechanging as tech has had to help me get my old name back twice before Some weird thing with my profile account or something.

Have emailed you about the shirts, also. They sound really cute!

We are currently the House of Germs I'm supposed to fly out tomorrow for a longawaited conference and I have an earache - eek! In addition to sore throat and general crappiness. I started a z-pack today adn have fingers crossed.

dodgykeeper · 03/12/2007 23:23

Hey Chocchip,
I got the almond flour and my cake is complete. There is no way I would have found it in Dorthy Lanes if you hadn't given me the heads-up! Between petfood and vitamins - what were they thinking!? We made Christmas puds too but with some interesting substitutes as I couldn't get golden syrup and a few other things anywhere. Hope this is al worth it - they certainly smell really good!

Busy planning for ds birthday on Wednesday. I always feel sorry for December birthdays so i try to make a big deal of it.

thanks again!

What a vile, vile, vile day. At least we don't live on the coast where the wind was 129 mph, and at least we have power, but it has been raining anywhere from .2 to 1 inch every hour here, and it is hitting the house sideways.

Lovely sparkly typing, Cali. DD (who loves anything sparkly and is still wearing her Halloween shoes every day because they sparkle) would love it.

I just realized I forgot to change my name. Maybe tonight, or I'll just be too lazy until tomorrow.

OverRated · 04/12/2007 03:59

But that was the obvious place to look, dodgykeeper. Why didn't you think of that first? Always between the dogfood & the vitamins

Get well soon Jabberwocky. Earaches are horrid.

December birthdays are a PITA

We have birthdays on December 20th, 22nd & jan 1st.

We are dangerously close to needing a new thread

dingdongdooneygirlonhigh · 04/12/2007 04:04

Yes we are (Just seeing if this worked)

GreatGlowingMerrily · 04/12/2007 04:39

We ARE on the coast (well, the Long Island Sound) and the winds are actually worrying me quite a lot. We have loads of tall trees around the house (and powerlines) and I have heard a few snaps from them this evening. One branch came down onto the road outside and a police car came (they're quite vigilant at the moment due to a spate of burgleries - I didn't even have to call them!) and moved it onto the footpath. I am hoping that that was the only thing that I heard snap [nervous emoticon]. The cold/ snow are the least of my worries

OverRated · 04/12/2007 05:28

Lovely namechanges, ladies!

Keep safe, GGM. Sounds a bit scary to me.

GreatGlowingMerrily · 04/12/2007 17:20

We made it through the night unscathed!
No other branches (or trees) came down overnight. Phew

chocchipchristmascake · 04/12/2007 18:15

Dear DK, Glad you found it, I have just come back from DLM at Washington Square, I thought of you as I bought my weetabix.

Here in Ohio 2-4 inches of snow is forecast tonight but half the time there is lots of doom, gloom and drama on the local (very naff) TV stations and nothing happens. So we'll see... Peopoe go nuts stocknig up, wake up the next morning and the sun is shining.

chocchipchristmascake · 04/12/2007 18:17

I might be mistaken but I think I saw golden syrup in Meijer in the foreign food aisle.
