I see all these threads for Aussie people and thought we should have our own thread too. Not sure why, I just felt the need to make us feel special too!

So, who's stateside and where are you?

I'll start:

Mamama - in Chicago

21 degrees here at 10:45pm. Just right! Wish I had a pool though

I've been thinking about my top 3 things in a family. I think I would have to say:

Fair/ considerate

Supportive

a 'nice' family - I don't know how to phrase it - it just has to feel right for everyone.

Good luck sittingBull

So Mums in USA - are your dc out of school for the summer? What, if any plans do you have to keep them occupied/yourself sane?

lol sittingbull. I hope the interviews went well.

My DS is too young for school yet so we're going to spend ALL summer in the fountain at the park.

Hello! I am new, both to Mumsnet and to the US! We moved to NY state a few weeks ago with our 4 children. DH works in Manhattan. Anyone else in the Tristate area?

Ooh congrats Sittingbull on the Nanny find. Fantastic news. It was 90 here today and I think I lost about 15lbs in weight from the sweat alone mowing the grass at 5pm . He ho, was a good excuse for the cold beer though. We're on Disney countdown now - 4 sleeps and counting. Watch out Florida here we come. Hope everyone is well, off to crash in bed with a large glass of water and my PD James.

mamama · 15/06/2007 05:21

Yay, fab news about the Nanny, well done.

Hello MKG - haven't seen you around for a while.

Yesthereare4ofthem - I used to live in Connecticut but am now in the Midwest. Where abouts in NY are you? Welcome to mumsnet!

Hello to all. I feel a bit apprehensive about the heat we'll encounter when we arrive mid July. It was 90 in Tennessee today, and it's a high humidity part of the country so will feel hotter.

Maybe in addition to mamama's list of who's who and where we're located, we should let everyone know how many dc we've got, and how old. I'll start. I'm a single mum to a lovely dd who is 6. She'll be entering first grade in her new school.
