I see all these threads for Aussie people and thought we should have our own thread too. Not sure why, I just felt the need to make us feel special too!

So, who's stateside and where are you?

I'll start:

hi mamama, Ottawa is in Ontario about 5 hours drive from Toronto, 2 hours from border with New York State. We have great weather at the moment too, high 20s and very sunny (got my shoulders abit red today).
I always hear Medicine Hat on the weather channel and think what a wierd name.
Sounds like you had had a great day alipiggie
Happy Birthday.

nannyk · 11/06/2007 03:40

I have been to the cape, and Rhode island too. Along with Mass, Vermont and Maine too. I love the Maine coast, up around Kennebunkport and Biddeford Pool. I love the oceans and the mountains, so New England is perfect for me!

Happy Birthday Ali, hope you enjoyed the concert (am v jealous )

Nice to "meet" you too hellish

Hello mamama - poppping in to say hello, but no time to chat, as we're up and starting the day in London. Once dd is at school, I'll be sorting/chucking stuff in anticipation of our move in about 6 weeks time.

See you 'round!

mamama · 13/06/2007 07:08

Ooo, have fun clearing everything out, Earlybird. Don't forget to bring Blutak!

Yay, congrats SittingBull. Fab news.

Good luck with the Nanny stuff - I'm on the other end of all that and am applying for Nanny jobs. I hate job hunting!

Hi! I'm American, living in Cambridge, MA, and joined this board because I couldn't find an American one that I liked, at all. I'm also quite probably going to move to Ireland in early 2008, after the baby arrives. Also haven't found any good Irish chat board type sites.

mamama · 13/06/2007 23:09

I noticed that too SittingBull - I had been away from MN and when I came back, the link thing had changed. I don't like change

I'll read your other thread later and will hopefully be able to contribute something helpful although I NannyK is far more experienced. I think the fact that you wantr your nanny to love your children and stay forever is a great start!

I have never been a nanny before so this is all new to me too!

Hi aikigypsy . Do you know about mamasource? It is a US site which serves a similar purpose to this. It is localised, so I am on the Chicago one but it is a place where people ask all sorts of questions about child-related (& non) issues. It might be worth a look.

I have no idea what is available in Ireland - there are lots of Irish mums on here though.

I'm in South America, does that count? And Califrau is probably my nearest neighbour (albeit about 10,000km away)
Quick wave to Califrau

nannyk · 14/06/2007 01:54

We were cold today in MA, felt like March not June!

Good luck with the nanny hunt Sittingbull, and also with the nannyjob hunt Mamama, if I can help at all please ask I think my top 3 things I look for in my employers are: appreciation, fairness (in terms of pay, duties, hours, expectations, etc) and a sense of humour! You sound lovely, both of you, so I am sure you will both find a lovely nanny and nanny job!

Hi Aikigypsy, I am only a few miles from you, I'm in C'town

alipiggie · 14/06/2007 02:15

Hi there, very quickly from Colorado. Lovely here today, not too hot, just 78 or so. Warmer tomorrow and in the 90's at the weekend. Packing for our big adventure to Florida on Monday - watch out Mickey here we come. Trying desperately to persuade Sittingbull to move to Colorado . Hope all goes well for everyone today. Sorry it's too hot for you Califrau.

hellish · 14/06/2007 02:58

it's lovely and hot here in Ottawa 27 C ish .
Very sunny - just right for me,
We have just had a pool put in our garden - not showing off, honest. and it's fantastic!

tinpot · 14/06/2007 03:05

How hot is it in CA right now? We are going on vacation (LA area) next week. Was hoping to escape the heat. Maybe that's not going to happen after all. It's not humid though, is that right?

Blimey - nope I didn't realise it would be so difficult either. You have to be happy with the nanny thought don't you. Hope the search doesn't take too long.
