I see all these threads for Aussie people and thought we should have our own thread too. Not sure why, I just felt the need to make us feel special too!

So, who's stateside and where are you?

I'll start:

Mamama - in Chicago

Oh SB - sounds a complete nightmare!

Might it be quicker to go hire one of those carpet cleaning machines? Could be much better than waiting goodness knows how long for someone professional to schedule a visit to the house...

mamama · 02/09/2007 23:39

SB - what a crappy day

Hope it got better.

Am impressed with DS pooing on the potty. Mine peed on it twice yesterday [proud mummy emoticon]

Did everyone have a good Labor Day? We went to my parents for pork roast that had been on the grill slowly cooking for hours. Yummmm.

Sitting Bull, how's the carpet situation?

Hi all. I'm hiding out in the computer room as I have 2 children whining and wanting to know where daddy is. Daddy is 100 miles away trying to help another store that is having problems while gathering experience for what his new job entails, but they don't really seem to care for that answer.

So yesterday I had a big shock. I was rearranging the toys in DS' room, and I dumped out a toy bin and it was all wet inside. I looked and smelled closer only to discover he had used his bucket for a bathroom. After him telling me DD did it, and then saying he didn't know why he did it, he said that he was mad at me for making him take a nap. I would fully expect something like that from DD, but I am still truly in shock that he did it. It really affected me, and everyone I saw or talked to could tell I was just "off" yesterday.

alipiggie · 05/09/2007 03:36

Well I've done it - First day at work. I survived hoorah and it was actually enjoyable. I'm sure I'll get the balance right, eventually. It is hard in the evening for sure as it's just me, but what the heck. I can do this. Nothing like in at the deep end. Already had my first conference call at home tonight, although it really just meant sitting and listening to start with. Sure I'll have more to add soon.

SittingBull - posted on your other thread - go for it. Remember I'm always here to chat to too.

Hope everyone's doing okay????? Labor Weekend was great, busy but fun for the most part. Gloriously hot weather.

jabberwocky · 06/09/2007 00:27

Congrats alipiggie! You sound really great. I'm so glad it's working out.

C&CM - sounds just like something my ds1 would do. He has, on various occasions, gotten mad at us, laid down on the floor and peed his pants

C&Csmom. I can just imagine DS doing something like that in a year or so. Still, better than finding a several day old poo at the bottom of the toybox

Off to cook my dinner now

Wow, this thread comes with automatic age updates and everything. Thanks!!!!

Colin started his new preschool. He is very happy with it. I'm much happier with the people there, and it is nice because he's in a class of 8 kids with the teacher and one assistant. I am a bit sad, though, because I liked the idea of being in a co-op and getting to stay if I wanted to. I could stay here, but not with Caitlin, and I have to get her down for a nap when he's in school anyway. The teacher there is very nice, and I was impressed because Caitlin was throwing a fit and screaming "Me scoo (school) too. Me stay" and the teacher was nice enough to find her some pegs to play with and played with her for a few minutes and then told her she had her school and she needed to go with me to take a nap.

Finally added the age of my two boys one . Well guys, survived my first week, celebrating with a bottle of champagne and my first paycheck . Anyone want to join me in a virtual glass.

Got an Open House tomorrow so am living in hope that we find a buyer so I can truly start living me life where I want. Will keep you all posted. Been roasting here again today, although the tail end of Hurricane Felix is passing through so going to be colder.

Sad about Pavarotti and still hoping that Steve Fossett is found safe and well although not looking too hopeful is it As for the latest news from Portugal

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 08/09/2007 04:00

Congrats on your first week!!! Hope you find a buyer quickly. I'd join you in champagne, but I hate the stuff. I'll have a virtual Midori Collins instead.

Hope they find him. It can be done. There was a great story in the paper today. In the rural Eastern part of Oregon there was a 76 year old woman that got lost when she was with her husband on a hunting trip on the 24th of last month. 2 policemen who were off duty went hunting for what they figured was her body and found her alive of all things. She's actually doing pretty well, and it looks like she will make it. That was a great story and got me all misty eyed. Hope for the same ending for Steve Fossett.

alipiggie · 08/09/2007 04:09

Cheers . Fabulous story thanks for sharing. We've just had a couple who walked out after five days stranded in the Rockies who everyone thought was dead too.

My DS1 has his first soccer match tomorrow and I vowed I'd never be a soccer mum. Who was I kidding .a

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 08/09/2007 04:12

And I swore I'd never be a minivan mom. Sigh, the things we do when we have kids.

alipiggie · 08/09/2007 04:17

My two want me to buy a VW Eurovan like the one my friend has . Must admit slightly tempted as can fit 5 in the back and use it for camping trips. But heck that'll need a bit of saving for.

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 08/09/2007 04:32

Not too sure about that one. I don't really like the looks of them.

If it isn't too nosy, what are your plans if your place sells?

alipiggie · 08/09/2007 04:55

Not nosey at all. Planning on moving into Boulder and probably renting for a while until my life is more sorted that way I can get a place near my friends and the boys school and my work. Couldn't afford to buy but can rent, albeit not very sensible from a tax point of view in the short term it's a good solution for me and the kids. Have you ever been to Boulder? - it's wonderful here .

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 08/09/2007 05:20

Somewhere around a million years ago, I almost moved there, even though I never have been there and knew nothing about it.

The closest I have ever come is having a 3 hour layover at the Denver airport, however. Would love to go someday, though.
