I see all these threads for Aussie people and thought we should have our own thread too. Not sure why, I just felt the need to make us feel special too!

So, who's stateside and where are you?

I'll start:

Mamama - in Chicago

ali - glad the concert was so good, and congrats on getting your ss#. As far as ds2 being deprived by your going out to work: just remember that it was your ex-dh who created the situation, not you. You're simply making the best of the fallout, and as sittingbull says, providing an excellent role model in the meantime.

sittingbull - you must be tremendously relieved to have dd on the mend. Good news that the worst is over.

We're finally getting some rain here today (though laughably it's the one day we had planned to go swimming after school with a new friend and her parents). Muggy/humid as hell though.

Good news for us on the school bullying, but will report on the other thread.

jabberwocky · 29/08/2007 16:06

ali, you are showing your boys that women can be good providers as well and that's a very positive thing. Transitions are always difficult, no matter what your age. I'm sorry you're having to go through all of this, but it sounds like you are doing a terrific job.

Earlybird, just checked your other thread and i'm glad things are looking up. I think you did the right thing by getting this nipped in the bud and I do believe that private schools pay more attention to things like this. After all, your dd is not only a student, she's a customer

sittingbull, I'm pleased that your little one is feeling better. Did you wind up giving her pedialyte? I think it's great stuff but ds1 acts like it's poison

C&CM, I've ordered bread mix from Bob's Red Mill. Didn't know it was a restaurant do they sell the mixes and things there as well?

Oh no... what's up with DS2, Ali?

Glad your DD is better sittingbull.

I don't know what Bob's Red Mill is

And Ali, HUGE congrats to you! I am so glad you like it and hope things go well for you and your boys.

Heat?!

Coldest summer in ages up here.

I revel in every minute of it.

I don't ever, ever want to live in Cali. I'm sitting here with my a/c at 75 and am incredibly happy.

Bob's Red Mill is a brand of grains and flours that are found in the natural section of most grocery stores around here. They have tons of different products. The warehouse and corporate headquarters are only a few miles from here, and they have what I believe to be their one and only store/restaurant here. It uses their products and showcases how good they are. The restaurant is pretty tasty and very reasonable.

I took Colin and Caitlin for their 2 and 4 year checkups today. I thought Caitlin was going to have shots, and Colin wouldn't have any, but it turns out she had none and he had 3!!!! Poor boy is just walking around with his arms held closely to his body and bursts out crying every couple minutes. I tried giving him ice cream and letting him play Noggin games, but he is just miserable, and he fell asleep with me holding him a few minutes ago. Daddy is coming home in a few, and we're going to go get him pizza and ice cream because I feel like crying for him.

mamama · 30/08/2007 01:20

lol sittingbull. We used to have to consevre electricity when I lived on the East Coast and with all the recent powercuts in the Midwest, I think we have a problem here too.

Was anyone here during the huge blackout in August, 2003? I think it stretched from DC through New England & up to the Canadian border in NY. My apartment building was the only place with electricity in the whole city

Bobs Red Mill

Ds had his 2 yr check-up last week. He's still in the 5th percentile for height and weight! I thought he'd had all his shots done before but apparently they now need to have Hepatitis A done, so he got that. Poor lamb!

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 30/08/2007 01:30

Caitlin's in the 90's for height, but she's only at the 40th for weight, and she's really moved up. She used to live in the single digits.

That darn Hep A shot got Colin, along with the fact that they were always running out of vaccs where we lived before, and we had to play catch up. I cried, too.

jabberwocky · 30/08/2007 04:04

DS1 was born on the blackout day in 03

I hate taking them in for check=ups. Am a real weirdo about shots and I never let them get more than one at a time. It makes for a lot of shot-only visits.

alipiggie · 30/08/2007 04:16

Blooming hot here again and was supposed to be only 79 but turned out more like 90. Great thunderstorm just when we were supposed to be having ds2's back to school picnic.

Great feedback from the realty tour yahoo. Onward and upward. My new boss says I can start working from home until Bobs and I are happy chappies - sigh I'm sooooo lucky.

Francis has his first soccer (FOOTBALL please) practice tomorrow. Been and ordered his kit today. He looks so cute in his little socks/shorts etc. Such a big boy.

Trying to work out how I get back to Red Rocks again .

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 30/08/2007 05:07

Congratulations on the getting to work from home thing. Lucky you. Glad to know DS will be happier.

Hope everyone is feeling cooler now.

I wish I could go to Hobby Lobby today. I'm torn between ordering frames online or hauling the kids 45 minutes to go have a look at what they've got in stock.

mamama · 02/09/2007 14:56

Hmmm, I see your problem, Jabberwocky. I'm glad I was child free but I wish I'd had more time there- I had to rush so I could get to Ikea before closing, so only had 10 mins or so. It still cost me $50

On the way home, I went grocery shopping. I literally got my Kix and Route 66

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 02/09/2007 15:17

Lol at your kix

mamama · 02/09/2007 15:58

Should have been "got my Kix on Route 66" obviously!
