Hi Guys

Have started us a new thread, hope you don't mind. With my dinosaur it takes me forever to scroll down to the bottom to post! (Don't ask)

Papillon - I am so happy for you. I hope things work out for you all. I am monitoring (auditing) drug trials atm (not for long I hope!!) Luckily Hastings HC is a smooth centre, the staff lovely and of course a great place to visit so it makes the trip worth while. Last time it was too hard to organise the boys for an overnight trip so I caught the first plane out, the last plane back and spent all day in a room with no windows going cross eyed counting drugs and checking records while the sun shone outside. NOw DH is practised in teh art of child care I will stay at least 1 night and hopfully see more than 4 walls.

ssshakethechi - you just have to come and join the ever growing band of NZ mumsnetters, we are growing by the day.

I guess it's a healing process Papillon, may take a bit of time eh. Good luck with the councilling. You've got so much going on we totally understand if an away visit is too much at the moment. Although it'd be lovely to see you folk and Ds would be over the moon to see you DD, no pressure though eh .

Hello Shells and welcome. We live up the coast from Wellington and recently rented a new house. We did as sibble advised and registered with all the estate agents. We finally found a place through a propery management company. I can give them a call and see if they deal with any properties in Wellington for you if you like. I know alot of properties up here go through the local paper, I'm not sure if it's the same in Wellington, but I guess that would be a bit tricky as you're not in Wellie to veiw them. The professionals have website you can register at and they will let you know by email if they get any rentals but Harveys and Ray whites seemed to get more and course there's good old trade me. Good luck let us know how you get on, I'm sure it'll be less overwelming when you get settled, how old are your lo's?

Shells · 07/05/2007 09:17

Thanks Sibble and Kjaysmum. Thats really useful. I would love any help with names of agencies etc.
My two DS's are 5 and 3, so the big one is at school here in chch and we need to take schools into account too. My little one has mild special needs - a significant speech delay and possible autistic spectrum. I don't know if any of the kiwi mumsnetters have experience of the special needs system here. I'm struggling to find my way around it and so used to the NHS and not having to pay that its a bit of a shock to find out how many services cost here.
Anyway, now I've REALLY hijacked the thread.

nappyaddict · 07/05/2007 19:24

littlelollipop · 08/05/2007 00:40

thanks KJM and cheers for the text - busy busy in the bach, the backyard has a good countryside feel to it.

got the flu too, so not quite up to full tackle the garden. DH is having lots of fun and my dad and him are up on the roof this arvo slapping on paint and tar to stop some holes

littlelollipop · 08/05/2007 01:14

trademe is good site for everything, including real estate, renting.

kjaysmum · 08/05/2007 07:45

Oh bummer getting the flu Paps, especially when your moving, I am so pleased you got folk around you to look after you lass

Shells, The management company we are with is called Quinovic if you put that into google they have an excellent website with all their listings in. Hope it helps.

kjaysmum · 08/05/2007 08:32

Hi nappyaddict, didn't spot you there staight away, nice one for finding me! Yes thanks, it's a good plan as I am probably in danger of forgetting once I get planning for the trip. I have emailed you and shall make sure I have your number safe before I travel. Thanks again

Shells · 08/05/2007 10:14

Thanks for agents name. I'll check them out. I'm in Wellington next week hunting so fingers crossed.

buzzybee · 10/05/2007 12:23

Shells, I am a Wellingtonian and very happy to help if I can. Email me on lmeade at deloitte dot co dot nz if you have any specific questions - e.g. do you know where you'd like to live in Wellington? I could also ask my Mum about special needs services - she used to be on the board of the Special Education Service. My DD has just started school at Thorndon School and I've been very impressed with them. I've also heard very good things about Ngaio School from a parent of an autistic child. Trademe is a good website for rentals, you could also try Tommys in addition to Quinovic. I also know a single shingle property manager who looks after about 100 properties around Wellington including 2 that my Mum owns so could put you in touch with him.

littlelollipop · 14/05/2007 07:59

Hey, thanks for the birthday invite KJM dd was very pleased as she is very into mail now and a card is extra exciting! Working like crazy atm - container arrives tomorrow to unload so trying to get the house in a kind of order to put some furniture in.

Few hiccups with dh but today was better and I am being very decisive about what I want. The relationship has always felt led by me and me being decisive helps his confidence and mine too.

Hope all are well

kjaysmum · 15/05/2007 02:46

busy, busy, busy, gosh these little one's birthdays take up lots of time, what fun!! not so much fun is the major dental treatment i've been having ouch, have been using my yoga techniques to deal with it which has really helped. Glad to hear you're well Paps, is great when your stuff turns up you'll feel so much more settled.

Any luck with the house hunting at the weekend, shells?

How are you Sibble any news on your future plans?

sibble · 15/05/2007 06:58

Paps, your new name keeps throwing me, just realised it's you again. It's so exciting when your container arrives isn't it, I remember getting the Herald to check the ship had docked etc... then the eventual arrival of the container itself at the door. Heaps of things we still havn't touched 4 years later and DS1's toys - such a relief. I hope things keep improving for you and DH, one day at a time - eh?!?

KJM, thanks for asking. I have thrown myself into it big time and am having a ball. I'm now an independent distributor for nutritional supplements and paraben free skin care!! A huge jump from drug trials but have always had feet in both camps as have taken heaps of nutrition papers and am also a reiki master (not the usual drug company employee!!) I would love to study to be a nutritionist but know that the time is not right with DS2 being only 2. Anyway, at the moment I am having fun doing what I want. Having said that when I handed my notice in I said I would stay until they found a replacement and they have yet to advertise so....I will be in Hastings/Havelock North for 3 days early June - meant to be 2/3/4th but think that's near the Queens' b'day so may postpone to the following week. Will post the definate dates when I have them as would love to see you Paps.

Take care all

my ds has been pareben free from birth, so very impressed to hear you're are spreading the word and availablity of parabens free, sibble, You sound very happy. I dream to find my path doing something I enjoy doing which is also worthwhile.

How was it getting your container then Paps, did you find room for everything in your wee batch then? Are you going to get online at your place and have you got a land line yet, if so text me the number and I'll give you a ring soon.

Papillon · 17/05/2007 21:32

Got my name back Yes the container has arrived! The garage is full of boxes and we are painting walls and staining wood floors. Me and the kids are still up with the folks as its abit of a state down there.

dd was very happy to see her LikeAbike come out of the container, although she bit through her lip when having sharing issues with her cousin, off to the doctor again this morning to get it checked over. Gosh thats two black eyes and now a split lip for the girl since she has been in NZ Swiss safety did not come in the container or on the aeroplane!

Do hope we can meet up Sibble

kjaysmum · 17/05/2007 22:06

oh no poor your DD !!!!

Papillon · 19/05/2007 08:16

All the best and wishing you and ds a fantastic day tomorrow. Happy Birthday Mr. 3 year old KJ

XXX

kjaysmum · 20/05/2007 07:16

Thanks Paps, we missed you and yours, it was a fantastic party, kids really on form and on excellent behaviour, ate all my healthy nosh and played all creative games with gusto! I'm knackered now though and KJ is over the moon

Papillon · 20/05/2007 08:31

Great news the kids at the food after all you time and effort Can just imagine KJ's face full of joy after such an action packed day! Thought of you all many times in the day x

I played Croquet today (how civilised!) Dad and I did really well and had quite a laugh. Then spent afew hours on the roof of the hours with tar and brush making it more water proof. Long term plan is to extend it or pull it down, so not spending money on roofing atm. In the morning I went with Dad and the kids down to see "Great Alf" ...grandad who is in a home, he is 94. He loves seeing the kids and says how 'beaut' they are!

My sister arrives back from Auckland today with her dog Quin, dd is very excited and looking forwards to meeting him tomorrow as well as seeing her cousins.

kjaysmum · 23/05/2007 22:36

hey Paps, just a thought but Dp going to Oz for a week at the end of the month, was speculating a visit, would you be available for a day or two that week and if so where would Ds and I stay?

sibble · 23/05/2007 23:47

hi all, it's been a bit quite on this thread lately. kjm, glad the party went well and the food went down a treat. paps it looks like i will be in Havelock North 20-22nd June (am trying to book flights today). I will have a hire car if you are free either for lunch or evening. During the day I'll be in the medical centre in Hastings but staying in Havelock North.

Had a bit of a morning, DS2 is into climbing, climbed up in the bathroom, got hold of a razor and has shredded his bottom lip and chin presumably copying his dad shaving. I was packing the car for the school run, DS1 came out and said DS2 ws bleeding - I said - OK in a minute until I looked at him , he was white as a sheet. Ran in to find DS2 covered from head to foot in blood, it was pumping out. Took me a good 10 mins to work out where it was coming from and what had happened. DS1 had to lie down for 20 mins as he felt dizzy and sick - DS2 will quite literally be the death of me. I was shaking...anyway he can't go to kindy today, was quite literally in shock. Has spent an hour and half lying on the sofa being cuddled watching a dvd. Seems to have perked up a bit and is playing now so I can get back in the shower as I'm still covered in blood.

BOYS - aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh

dh is holding his mouth looking ill after me telling him about your ds Sibble. (((big hug))) heading your way, how frightening; and abit of a close shave (excuse the pun!) Glad he is okay and hope you are feeling better after your shower. When dd hurt herself last week I had as much rescue remedy as she did.

Thats great you have dates in June I will look on calendar and see what suits me better for either lunch or dinner.

kjm mum and dad leave for san francisco to see my brothers new baby Ella. So there is space at their place and with any luck we will be moved into ours. Varnishing timber floors atm. Would be great to see you dd and ds have loads of toys, bikes whathaveyou selection of animals on the orchard so come on up!

just been in the spa pool with the kids watching the sun set, paradise. Mum said to me today you must be getting sick of this weather, blue skies No Way!!

Papillon · 24/05/2007 07:04

just read your post again Sibble am holding ds and shuddering

kjaysmum · 24/05/2007 08:43

oh my goodness Sibble, how terrifying, he must have really frightened himself and you and us . How is the cut looking now? I imagine because it was such a sharp blade it produced alot of blood but should heal very quickly, did you have steristrips or was it not possible. Anyhow I really hope he's ok now, oh our poor hearts with these los!!!!!
Papillon it's a fantastic offer, and I would love to take you up on it. How does Saturday the 2nd sound. I shall head off in the morning. Could you email me some directions. Gosh how exciting, can't wait to see you new place and see you and yours again!

ghosty · 24/05/2007 08:54

SIBBLE!!!!!! Poor poor poor boy , Poor you

That child is a liability - and yes, everyone, I have first hand experience of watching Danger Boy give his mum grey hairs!
Oh well, it only means he will be a real 'go getter' when he grows up (hmm, I wonder who he gets that from? )
... give him a hug from me (Tell him DD misses him - that'll cheer him up)

And I hope you are having a very very VERY large glass of red ...
