My DH has just been diagnosed with AIDS

I need some hand holding. It's been a really tough few years as a family. My DH was raped by 2 men on a stag do just before our 2nd DC was born. He didn't tell me for sometime but did and we've been trying to work through it together. But after 2 years of feeling ill he was admitted to hospital with pneumonia and subsequently diagnosed with AIDS. This is devastating. The form of pneumonia is also very serious. I'm scared he's going to die...

Oh this I think you posted when you first found out? What a horrifically hard time for you all, has he got PCP? It can be very serious but can also be treated. What support do you have?

Thank you. I've crumbled today. I think because my parents have got the children for a few days which has allowed me to break down.

Yes I have posted before. My Mum and Dad know and my best friend. My DH doesn't want to share it more than that as it's such a traumatic experience.

He had been tested just after the attack which was negative but it can be too soon to show up.

Oh OP, I also think I remember your post when he opened up about the rape.

I recall he was having a really hard time dealing with it all and processing it to tell you? So sorry to hear the outcome.

Yes, he's found it incredibly hard to come to terms with and pushed me and his friends a way. It took our marriage to the brink but we've muddled through. And now this...

OP, I'm so sorry.
I hope you get some useful advice here and some real life support too. Don't neglect your own mental health, if you feel that you need to speak to a counsellor or similar you should.
Are your DCs very young?

Oh my word OP that is terrible. Your poor husband and poor you. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through. That is heart breaking. Try and give yourself a break while your folks have the kids and most importantly look after yourself and your partner. Flowers

I've been referred for some counselling and prescribed anti depressants which are helping. Just feels like we've been dealt and very shitty hand in life.

DC are 5y & 3y...poor kids. Barely a functioning parent between us.

I have a brother living with HIV he has such a positive amazingnlife now. I hope your husband came come through this.
