Hi I don't have anything helpful to contribute just to say I hope you get the all clear. I've come across this thread as my dad was diagnosed on Tuesday and we are in utter shock right now xxx

Sixpencenonethericher · 09/02/2017 18:01

Oh no bless your heart anything I can help you with ask away xx

sparkleyes · 09/02/2017 18:07

Thank you I am torn between burying my head in the sand and finding out everything I can.

We have been waiting since November for the results when the neurologist suspected it so have been in utter terror since and now feel like I am in a total dream world. We had no idea this was in the family.

My heart goes out to everyone on this thread.

Sixpencenonethericher · 09/02/2017 18:30

Totally get the torn feeling xx

I am sorry your dad has the awful news. How old is he? Xxx

My dad is 69 he has probably had symptoms for at least five years if not longer but v noticeable in the last 12 months. He was diagnosed with epilepsy 20 years ago and this has perhaps masked some of the symptoms which we attributed to the seizures x

diamondmoon · 10/02/2017 07:50

It's going to be very hard for all the family getting to grip with it all. Even though I have a scary two more weeks waiting I have known about the family history so not such a big shock. X

Hi diamond moon

How are you feeling? When do you find out?

Did you have any counselling before the test?

Best wishes x

diamondmoon · 15/02/2017 07:21

Find out next Tuesday so trying to go on as normal until then. But yes I am worried but need to know. If I positive have to have brain scan to confirm I have it now. Dr worried I could be showing symptoms of it now that's why only had one genetic apt. If showing no symptoms u have to see genetic doc 3 times for counselling. If my test is negative I will have to have other things tested for.xx

Bless you all. My brother (half) died from this at the age of 21 which I now know is very young to have contracted it and his decline was fast because of his age. I'm crying reading your posts. I have nothing to add but just wanted to write and wish you well. Thank god for forums like these where you can find support and kind words
