Neighbours own the road of course!

Probably trivial but is getting a real pain.

Residential on street parking, no restrictions at all. If neighbours can’t get parked exactly at their front door they box me in in by double parking against my car, meaning their car is parked parallel to me so close we can’t even get in drivers doors.

There is also a car in front & behind so I have to wait for them to move, they are parked as they should be.

We have been blocked in and knocked to ask them to move and they don’t answer the door. I usually end up walking .

Its deliberately being done now. I know this as this family have been awful to me since I moved in my home 2 years ago.

What can I actually do?

Hoping OP has called the police by now.

BlaBlaBlaHa · 22/09/2023 14:14

Can you park slightly out, so they can't do this?

Graciebobcat · 22/09/2023 14:18

Keep reporting it as a parking infringement to the council, taking photos.

I reported a neighbour a couple of times for nuisance parking. I didn't want to speak to him as our first conversation when he moved in involved him being aggressive and accusing me of reversing into his headlight (I didn't touch the car- but skillfully squidged in front of him - he had space behind and was not boxed in).

I saw someone go round and have a word with him. No problems since then.

So's parking like a knob end !

My children and I were nearly killed with a tyre blow out - don't suggest something so bloody dangerous.

In fairness, FallingAutumnLeaf may very well be sitting in work wearing a beautifully colored cape and superhero mask, we just don't know.

😂

It seems a bit strange that when you knock they refuse to answer the door - after all them boxing you in is so that they can get the space when you move your car.

Id keep walking and leave your car parked in the spot for days at a time, this will frustrate them more than anything else.

Or pop a card through there door -

was going to move my car and you could have had the space but you weren't in. I'll walk as it'll get me fit and see you soon. take care, neighbour

Wakintoblueskies · 22/09/2023 15:10

Great idea. I’d borrow a bike and cycle waving at them as you go past!!!

whynotwhatknot · 22/09/2023 15:26

phone the police everytime take pics its harrassment

SurprisedWithAHorse · 22/09/2023 15:47

They're boxing her in so that she'll be completely inconvenienced and not park there again in future. Not answering the door increases the inconvenience.

Obnoxious, obviously, but it's advice that you often see on parking wars threads... park to piss them off and then don't answer the door. Or maybe they just don't ever answer the door anyway because they're MNers.

NigellaAwesome · 22/09/2023 15:47

Love the diagram! I'm just here for the op to confirm if it is accurate.

But I echo all the other pps. Phone the police and report it as harassment and take photos. Keep a diary of it every single time, including how long they blocked to in for. Also note any other undesirable behaviour from them.

AbsoluteYawns · 22/09/2023 16:04

I have to say it...
What a diagram!

Lemonyyy · 22/09/2023 16:25

I'm quite passive aggressive and I'd be tempted to do it back to them if it wasn't such a stupid thing to do....

OhComeOnFFS · 22/09/2023 16:29

Perfect diagram! Definitely take tons of photos - let them see you do that - and then call the police every single time.

And then, tbh, I'd be on Right Move.

Tulipvase · 22/09/2023 16:42

Is the car likely to be alarmed? Id be tempted to keep setting the alarm off. And I would absolutely be reporting every occasion to the council.

I think I’d also be tempted to get some friends round and lift it somewhere.

Rhythmisadancer · 22/09/2023 16:52

the police will tow them if they're blocking you in- have no qualms, just call them

Aparecium · 22/09/2023 16:54

As well as reporting to police and sitting in the car with your hand on the horn, you can take photos, blanking out everybody's licence plate except theirs, and post on YPAC here (and here, though on MN you'll have to blank out their licence plate as well).

You might like to decorate their car with a choice selection of these stickers.

FallingAutumnLeaf · 22/09/2023 16:59

Thanks for the praise of my - possibly wrong - diagram.
I think that's the greatest compliment my art work has ever recieved except when I won the under 5s work drawing competition with DSs name

QuinionsRainbow · 22/09/2023 17:10

How about getting the owners of either the blue or violet cars (preferably both) to move their cars away for a while, thus letting you out and leaving CF neighbour's car sitting in the middle of the road. Preferbly done at night so that (a) CF neighbour doesn't notice and (b) so his car is not just in the middle of the road, but in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT LIGHTS!

HikingforScenery · 22/09/2023 17:17

Sadly i drive through an area regularly where the parking in @FallingAutumnLeaf’s diagram is a common occurrence

SiobhanSharpe · 22/09/2023 17:19

definitely photograph it and post on YPLAC.

QuinionsRainbow · 22/09/2023 17:26

What planet are some people on?* *When I had a legally parallel-parked car (with sidelights on) written off at 2 am one winter night by a hit-and-run Prat who didn't even stop to pick up his front bumper and spot-lights, the only way I could get the police the least bit interested was to suggest that I make a 40 minute bus journey to the "local" police station to collect an Incident Report. When I got there, they were about to close for the day, and I had to go home with the form, and return next day to submit it. And that was the last I heard of it.

Great aerial diagram! Another fan of your work.

Police here always come out for double parking - not so much to rescue blocked in vehicles but for safety reasons. As I said up-thread someone here died because double parking blocked fire engine access

They'd not come out for your problem tho' I'm sorry to say

billybear · 22/09/2023 18:12

shame them with a photo on local facebook page, phone local pcso /police.
