Neighbours own the road of course!

Probably trivial but is getting a real pain.

Residential on street parking, no restrictions at all. If neighbours can’t get parked exactly at their front door they box me in in by double parking against my car, meaning their car is parked parallel to me so close we can’t even get in drivers doors.

There is also a car in front & behind so I have to wait for them to move, they are parked as they should be.

We have been blocked in and knocked to ask them to move and they don’t answer the door. I usually end up walking .

Its deliberately being done now. I know this as this family have been awful to me since I moved in my home 2 years ago.

What can I actually do?

OP posts:

I think it must be a wide enough road for drivers to get past the double parking

But then surely you just park next to the kerb on the other side??

SheilaFentiman · 22/09/2023 10:28

Well, I would, but these neighbours seem unreasonable

Or it may be double yellow on the other side

It's a very slow day at work.
This is what I'm picturing. So they are blocking the road. Hence calling the police.

If it's anything else, please enlighten us - as I can't see how they are blocking you in without blocking the road.

Not all heros wear capes.

PrtScn · 22/09/2023 10:37

Start taking photos and logging when they do this. I’m petty and would reciprocate, but best thing to do is probably log it with the police non-emergency number and they might send a PCSO out for a chat.

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/09/2023 10:39

Excellent diagram, @FallingAutumnLeaf !

tootiredtospeak · 22/09/2023 10:44

Pretty sure OP is confusing the term parallel and means without the green car

RudsyFarmer · 22/09/2023 10:48

How are other cars getting through? I think you need to take a photo every time and approach the council and police about harassment.

This description is pretty clear

Patronising

AuntieDolly · 22/09/2023 10:57

Sit there with your hand on the horn until all the neighbours come out and see what dicks they are. Or buy an old car and block them in. Or set fire to their house...

AcclimDD · 22/09/2023 10:58

I'd do what @prh47bridge says.

tootiredtospeak · 22/09/2023 11:01

I wasn't actually trying to be patronising and think the OP is confused as it makes no sense what she has said. They cannot all be at the Kerb and Parallel parked. To the post we who said the OP was quite clear I suggest you read the unanimous questions asking her for a diagram as it's not clear at all.

Mauricemossy · 22/09/2023 11:04

I am not over invested but I have to leave for work soon but I don't fully understand the parking situation....

LakeTiticaca · 22/09/2023 11:04

If the diagram is correct it looks like you neighbour is obstructing the highway. How would ambulance or fire get through?
Take photos and inform the police

@FallingAutumnLeaf

🙌Standing ovation 🙌

SirChenjins · 22/09/2023 11:06

It's perfectly clear - they (the OP and the others) are parked by the kerb, and then the neighbours parallel park beside her to block her in.

OP, take photos every time it happens and call the police. Don't let these twats dictate where you can park on the street - you have as much right to the space as they do.

That drawing is a thing of beauty - well done that poster.

sunglassesonthetable · 22/09/2023 11:06

If that drawing is correct.

It beggars belief.

Call the police OP. What absolute C*S.

GyozaGirl · 22/09/2023 11:07

You need to clarify by diagram or if it is just like @FallingAutumnLeaf diagram ( which is fabulous by the way ) then it is illegal.

If you are a woman living alone I would not engage in parking wars. Arseholes are always arseholes . I might leave a dog turd by the drivers side of their car each time I found a handy abandoned one on the street though. Petty, moi

RoyKentsTieDyeTop · 22/09/2023 11:10

When you say they only do it to you; do you mean you’ve seen other people park outside Twat Neighbour’s house and been left alone?

Or are you the only person who dares park there?

In fairness, FallingAutumnLeaf may very well be sitting in work wearing a beautifully colored cape and superhero mask, we just don't know.

@FallingAutumnLeaf Your talents are wasted. You’ve officially become chief of diagrams on MN.

tootiredtospeak · 22/09/2023 11:13

I cannot believe anyone would do as per the diagram it's brazen beyond belief and even on a really wide road it would be insanity to not just park at the other kerb opposite. The diagram is as per OP describes but I feel like no one would do that as it's so obviously harassment and on purpose. There must be something else
