Hiya I'm new to this like literally just downloaded the app 5mins ago 😬 but I wanted to see how many big families are out there and when I searched it on here so many negative comments it shocked me! I'd like to chat with mums 4 or more ☺️

“A few prospects have been dragged home” 😂 made me laugh!!

Hubbie is from Oz and we live between there, UK and USA where it is much more acceptable to have a bigger family.

I love the noise, it stills me. My eldest is 18 and he is loving life as a big big brother! We have a prospect in the horizon though 😂

I think you're deliberately missing the point that big families draw negative attention as they are so bad for the environment, not to mention public resources.

I grew up in a big family and didnt like it, but that was more due to my parents. It's a shame as I can see how they can be so much fun.

But what if the family are extremely environmentally friendly in every level they can be? Obviously there are some things that are unavoidable but where we can we do what we can

I have 4, their gaps are
G 12
G 6
B 5
G baby
they are teens/twenties now, the youngest likes a much older sister as she has a good career and gets her nice treats(mercenary bugger 🤣)

@EsmaeDe

It isnt about how environmentally friendly you are now, it is about how your family will expand over the next few generations. If you have 2 children, and they have 2, and then their children have 2, that equals 8. If you have 4 children, and they have 2, and then their children have 2, that equals 16.

Then I will be a very happy grandmother. It’s daft to think that people don’t like others having big families. How do you know I birthed all of my children? What if they’re all or some are adopted? Then what?
Not arguing just asking

Report
Wolfgirrl · 01/06/2020 20:10

Well, why would they like it? The only person that is happy you have a big family is you. It doesnt benefit anyone else.

Are any of your children adopted?

EsmaeDe · 01/06/2020 20:13

Firstly not only me but my husband, family and friends.
And yes 4 of our 7 children are adopted. Not that it should matter.

But what if my children birth none then your children birth none and all the mums above Childrens children birth none then there is no one else born ever and the world just stops!!!!!!!!! OMFG

Economically, we need more babies. We will be dependent on immigration in the future due to current birth rates- not just here but in the whole of Europe. Birth rates are declining. We need a young working population to sustain things and currently we have an ageing population. Some European countries are even introducing financial incentives for bigger families to try to help this situation. Also the whole 'have 2 kids, they have 2 kids, they have 2 kids' is bollocks. I could have 4 children and only 1 have their own child. Someone else could have 2 who go on to have 5 babies each. You don't know what will happen!

@EsmaeDe I know 🤣 but I find it really weird because there grandparents/great grandparents most probs had big family's it was the norm? And we're all alive today if there families weren't so big in the first place they wouldn't be here with there 1DC 🤭🤣

Yes that does make a difference Esme as you are caring for existing children, not creating new ones iyswim. Amazing thing to do! Power to you.

@gracex4 very unlikely the 6 billion people in the world will all choose not to have children.

@KatnissK I see what you mean but having more children is a short term fix - they will just turn into old people themselves one day, then even more children will need to be born to care for them. And on it goes. The answer is immigration being distributed in such a way that certain areas do not lack young people.

Yes, your 5 children may have less than my daughter, but it is unlikely - it is much more likely 5 adults will produce more babies collectively than just one other person.

@Wolfgirrl I don't really get your point more people need to be born to look after more people......So basically you want to stop everyone breeding now so that one child can look after one set of parents and so on as if no one dies along the way either.....we're human not robots 🙄 the world will always carry on turning hopefully if me and @EsmaeDe keep breeding the world don't slant because we weighed it down

I'm sorry, when did I say this? 🙄

No, that is silly, this isnt China.

2 children is the optimum number - your children have a sibling, but with minimal impact on the environment. It keeps the population growth stable. I can sort of understand 3, after all someone might have twins in their second pregnancy, but 4? 5? Nobody needs that many do they?
