My view of successful ceasefires and political settlements is they work once the enemy is near defeat or is defeated. Until then, they retain attacking capability and have no reason to enter negotiations in good faith. Since 1998, the Anglosphere has been sold and bought into the propaganda of the peace process which deliberately excludes the role played by security forces in facilitating the process itself.
People prefer a nice, neat story that's also got a mythical appeal. They reject the actual reality for that.
A successful military response with Hamas is a vitally important part of trying to create long term stability in the MER. That sends a message to Hezbollah, Houthis, Iraqi & Syrian militias and, of course, Iran who also should be economically sanctioned by the West Big time.
None of the tinkering round the edges and moving the rug to hide certain things from view. Out of sight, out of mind isn't a strategy.
