Ah, I hadn't noticed it had been withdrawn.

Although in my defence it was an easy conclusion to jump to given past experiences on here.

@79Helene I rolled my eyes when I first saw it as I assumed it was another lurker-related casualty 🙃

Limesodaagain · 10/07/2024 19:10

Sorry - I withdrew it! It was just to say that I’m sorry for all the s**t this toxic conflict is causing your community.
It’s doing my head in so I can appreciate if you don’t want to experience it any more - that’s why I thought I’d delete.
It’s very hard to say objective and fair when faced with poisonous debate. I’m going to come off for a while.
Take care !

79Helene · 10/07/2024 19:18

@Limesodaagain Thanks Lime, don't stay away too long 🙂

Thank you 🙏🏻

That board is an absolute cesspit full of anti-Semitism, minimisation and denial of anti-Semitism, general hatred, partial truths and propaganda. I haven't been on there in a while but I remember you regularly standing up for us against anti-Semitism which has always been much appreciated.

0palfruitsalad74 · 10/07/2024 20:05

Agree with all of the above, that board is a horrible place. Didn't notice too much outrage elsewhere on MN following yesterday's news about the children's hospital being bombed in Ukraine, I have to say. Unless I missed it. Difficult not to notice the double standard.

ETA I've stopped reading that board but used to like your contributions on there @Limesodaagain

Don't Forget to Write by Sara Goodman Confino is an easy-to-read coming of age story set in the US. Perfect holiday reading.

Went to buy it - turns out I already own it 😂 So have added it to my list. Thanks for the recommendation!

Morning all :) (It is actually just about afternoon here). I am also pretty much off the board, apart from a couple of threads.

(Jewish) Bernie Sanders congratulating Jeremy Corbyn last week was very eeeeeeh?!

Yeah, I think CITME is a lost cause at this point. Just had to once again correct someone who thinks Lancet are themselves estimating 186k deaths in future. 🤦‍♂️

Various media publications have misrepresented it too, so they can peddle misinformation and disinformation. People need to be more careful and discerning.

But CITME is generally pointless.

DownNative · 12/07/2024 10:54

Hope you all have a safe and joyful Shabbat with your friends & families! ♥

Towerofsong · 12/07/2024 19:47

Shabbat Shalom all ❤️

MissConductUS · 13/07/2024 16:51

I hope you're all having a lovely Shabbat.

I thought that this opinion piece from the WSJ about the recent elections in France was a bit disturbing.

79Helene · 13/07/2024 17:32

@MissConductUS Good afternoon America!

Is it this one? It's behind the paywall unfortunately

@79Helene, that keeps happening to me. When I try to post a link using the link formatting tool, it shows in the post preview but is missing from the actual post. I'll give it another go.

French Politics Takes an Antisemitic, Anti-American Turn - The chief rabbi of the Grande Synagogue in Paris recently said ‘there is no future for Jews in France.’

Latest on the shitstorm on mumsnet board...warzones are not good places for young people to test their boundaries..who knew?

I now only pop in there to look at what's most recently posted and by whom.

I come here & fwr for thoughtful posts, recipes and humour (and the germy corbin pics of course). @MissConductUS you were right about gooseberries, they are very juicy.

I may reduce them down to incorporate them into cakemix, otherwise its crumble or fruity flapjack, they're very acidic.

EdithStourton · 14/07/2024 14:26

Gooseberries are disgusting.
That is all.

quantumbutterfly · 14/07/2024 14:31

I'm not a big fan of them either, but dp was so proud of his gooseberries😁

Bowib · 16/07/2024 15:30

I don't know if I've ever had a gooseberry, if I have, it hasn't left much of an impact!

quantumbutterfly · 16/07/2024 16:10

They're hairy little blighters, usually quite tangy and have bitty little seeds in them that stick in your teeth...am I selling it for you?

No. I can see why they were banned in the U.S. 😂

They taste nasty. You would have remembered. School used to gooseberry crumble, with unsweetened gooseberries. This may underlie my loathing of them.

79Helene · 18/07/2024 15:56

Anyone know of other online forums where Jewish women can just have a chat (both practising and non-practising)?
