Merailers assemble! The doors are open for part 4!

At least they've now removed that appalling AIBU thread. It was absolutely teeming with Jew-hate and goading.

Ooh yes. Remember, bonus points for a labelled diagram 😉 I live on the same road as a primary school and have never had anyone so much as partially block my driveway, so very dull round here 😂

Really?! We have a primary school at the end of our road and it's absolute mayhem at school drop off and pick up 😂 Cars parked literally on the pavement. Like, not two wheels up on the kerb - all four wheels firmly and squarely on the pavement. Although to be fair, that might be unrelated to the school and might just be one of my neighbours! I'm not quite curtain-twitcher enough to have investigated. Maybe I should! Could be a fun new hobby for me.

Sadly, it's been reinstated, now with added ignorance, revisionist history and Khazars for flavour.

BooBooButts · 04/10/2024 11:55

Why hasn't it been moved to CITME?

79Helene · 04/10/2024 12:02

Probably a similar reason so many hateful, goady posts and threads are left to stand on CITME - new/extra traffic from AIBU?

OP posts:
BooBooButts · 04/10/2024 12:56

Seeing as the OP hasn't even asked if she's being unreasonable, I've asked for it to be moved 🤷🏻‍♀️ I look forward to seeing their reasoning for not moving it

BooBooButts · 04/10/2024 12:57

They said they won't be moving it because it's been there for a few days already 🤦🏻‍♀️

stonecutter · 04/10/2024 17:07

I wanted to start a thread in site stuff to ask why it isn't just a hard rule that all the Israel / Palestine threads have to be put on the CITME boards.

But then I realised if that happens, posts here mentioning Israel would get reported by lurkers to stop people having a safe place to talk about it.

And if an exception was made for the Jewish / Muslim Mumsnetter boards then people would just find their way here to start "Genuine question but..." threads.

So decided not to. I don't want to make it worse. I'm disappointed for their reasoning not to move it. The thread has derailed and become an absolute mess.

On other news, had my first ever Rosh Hashanah dinner this week and it was lovely. Take care everyone.

I unfortunately think you're 100% correct in just how petty posters would be and that they would just stalk us even more moving forward.

I'm glad you enjoyed your first Rosh Hashana dinner! My in laws are Iraqi but my kids go to a pretty Ashkenazi school - the disappointment on their faces when they realised they wouldn't be getting apple and honey and would instead have to settle for apple jam 🙈 Objectively, the homemade apple jam was way nicer but I still had to cut up an apple for them to dip in honey when we got home.

Didn't see Helene's post but these lurkers sure are something else. Come on guys, don't be shy, no need to sneakily stalk us! It's obvious that you want to hang out here 😉😘

BooBooButts · 05/10/2024 10:23

I'd be really interested to know why Helene's post was deleted? It was a post by the met clarifying that supporting terrorism is not allowed. What MN talk guideline did that break?

0palfruitsalad74 · 05/10/2024 10:34

What on earth..?! I've seen that Met police post shared on X. How ridiculous. Wonder why people are so sensitive about such definitions being clarified 🤔

Yes, that's the exact X post that was shared. It's really nothing that should have been deleted as it wasn't even remotely offensive and it was just clarifying the law with regards to supporting terrorists. But all sorts of inoffensive things seem to be getting deleted today both here and on CITME so nothing surprises me anymore.

0palfruitsalad74 · 05/10/2024 10:45

MN has truly lost the plot on this.

Yup! There really is no excuse for it though - surely everyone is against terrorists and terrorism? Or at least should be.

What I don't understand is why they allow posters with bad intentions to lurk and report on here so frequently. "This board exists primarily for the use of Jewish Mumsnetters." so what are they doing here in the first place?

0palfruitsalad74 · 05/10/2024 10:57

I completely agree. It's very strange all round: MN's deletions and the fact that people think it's their job and perfectly normal behaviour to monitor what we talk about here. Hope they've picked up some nice recipe ideas if nothing else.

Yeah but I mostly just wish they'd pick up tips on how not to be an anti-Semite. I feel like one of the main tips is "don't feel like it's your job to monitor Jewish people and make sure they only say things you approve of at all times. If you can't help yourself, chances are you're anti-Semitic".

Yep, 100%

SharonEllis · 05/10/2024 15:08

I didn't see Helene's post but WTF the mods have lost the plot today, Im sorry you cant just be left in peace.

25milesfromhome · 05/10/2024 15:27

I was expecting this weekend to be bad, particularly on CITME but it's actually worse than I thought it could be. I suspect most Jewish posters will feel hounded off MN this weekend and MNHQ bears a huge responsibility for allowing this to happen. Such an appalling lack of shame or sensitivity.

Am Yisrael Chai.

0palfruitsalad74 · 05/10/2024 16:04

25Miles - yes I completely agree. I am guessing we are looking at the same thread but in a sense this was always bound to happen with the lack of sensible moderation. This is what it has led to and goady posters know they can get away with it. It's shameful for a website of this size and reach.

BooBooButts · 05/10/2024 16:35

Fucking weird weekend. On the anniversary weekend of the deadliest attack on Jewish people since the Holocaust, posts pointing out anti-Semitic tropes and other posts clarifying that supporting terrorism is illegal are deleted. Mind-boggling.

25milesfromhome · 05/10/2024 16:43

The optics look increasingly bad.
