I didn't see the content of the deleted post - but The Met's statement about the policing of this weekend is here https://news.met.police.uk/news/policing-operation-for-weekend-ahead-of-october-7th-anniversary-488935

it contains this paragraph, which Mumsnet admins should take seriously because it reflects UK law on this matter. As the Met say, "The law is very clear". Individuals who post online in support of Hamas or Hezbollah are subject to the same legislation. Mumsnet cannot protect them from this.

"Support for proscribed organisations
Hamas and Hezbollah are both proscribed organisations, meaning they are banned in the UK.
We have seen examples of people at protests showing support for such organisations. Some of these cases have already resulted in convictions at court.
The law is very clear – anyone displaying symbols, wording or otherwise indicating their support for a proscribed organisation risks arrest.
The same is true for anyone who appears to be endorsing, celebrating or justifying the actions of those organisations."

Prepare to get your post deleted 🙄 This is what the other deleted post said too but that's apparently offensive to the lurkers.

At least that awful goady thread over there has gone now.

Aww, were you not a fan of the proposed solution of just making Israel disappear? You obviously just need to learn to compromise!

(I'm staying off CITME but was so curious when I saw comments about it on here earlier that I had to check what they were talking about!)

It's already been replaced by a new goady thread unfortunately.

No idea! You'd have to ask MN. There's no point in me asking them because they have now taken to ignoring all my emails 😊

Comedycook · 07/10/2024 13:34

It's not. Stomach started a new one.

EdithStourton · 07/10/2024 13:37

Am Yisrael Chai is offensive?
Where are we? Berlin, 1938?

What a thing to pull, especially today.
Thinking of you all, of my Israeli friends, and the hostages.

Full disclaimer - MN haven't actually said it's offensive!! That's my sarcastic interpretation of events as I don't understand why it was deleted. It was entirely inoffensive yet the thread was deleted, and this is in spite of MN having a policy to no longer delete threads if it can be avoided.

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 07/10/2024 14:38

i think it was the replies rather than the thread the new one already has some awful responses.

Thanks for clarifying. I'd like to know their justification!

SharonEllis · 07/10/2024 14:42

I asked MN why it was deleted. They said it was not because it was offensive and they had no problem with the thread. It was an issue with the OP - they specfically said to me that a new one could be started. Sorry, I have only just had a chance to come back on.

BooBooButts · 07/10/2024 14:44

Sorry for causing confusion with my original comment about it, I am just very, very frustrated with it all

Me too. I was reassured that it was not what I had feared. The comments on the new one are a mess though - the first one had been calm and respectful. It only takes one person to kick everything off.

Yes, that’s why it was so surprising it got taken down. This one is under attack.

Yes, very disappointing - it was a model thread!
