Hi! I’m starting the process of a FET in September, transferring a 4AB early October. Trying for baby number two. Anyone else? Would be great to have people to talk to amongst the symptom spotting, line eyes and general freak outs ☺️

Hi ladies. I am starting our first FET cycle in the next couple of weeks. To say I am nervous is an understatement. I just received my FET meds and I've noticed they're asking me to take Voltarol 50mg 2 hrs before transfer and another 6 hrs after transfer. I was just reading online that NSAIDs are generally not recommended around transfer as they can affect implantation. Anyone else's clinic asked them to do this? I am with CRGH. Thanks

Welcome in! We'll give you a hand-hold; don't be nervous.

I've not been prescribed voltarol, but I'm sure your clinic won't mind you asking them to talk through why they prescribed it.

Piapea · 04/10/2025 20:47

Hi everyone! I've been very quiet on this thread but have been following from the sidelines. It's felt like a long wait to get going with this FET but I'm going to do my trigger shot tomorrow morning, then the FET is the following Friday. I'm much more nervous than I thought I'd be. Just going into the clinic again and entering the headspace of 'positive and hopeful but realistic and not too hopeful' is tough. Lots of you are on the same schedule so hopefully a bit of luck will spread and we'll have some support for the TWW Xx

Thank you! I've messaged my clinic to clarify. Maybe it's just how they do things x

Hi all! Excited to see so many transfers coming up. Crossing my fingers for you all. I stopped Norethisterone today so here’s hoping my period comes in the next few days 💪

InfertilitySWS · 05/10/2025 12:09

How’s everyone doing?

@Sara237 how are you feeling about tomorrow?

I had my transfer on Friday and the wait is already starting to kill me 🤣 I’ll start testing Thursday, I never wait, and think by Friday should know if it’s worked. Everything went fine for the transfer except it was a little painful this time, don’t remember that from before, the nurse said maybe my bladder was tilted a certain way and it can make it harder for the catheter to get through, but wasn’t too painful so all good. Here’s my embaby on the screen, hope they stick 🥹

@InfertilitySWS That is a really cool picture, I've not seen it like that before. I'll be the same as you re early testing, I'm not really known for my patience 😂
I'm just in hotel waiting for transfer tomorrow. Nervous, excited, thinking shall I just get two put in to max out my chances...but then what if I had twins or worse yabba yabba round go the thoughts!! Urgh, really none of this fun. Happy to be here though. Lovely room!
Hope everyone else is doing ok, @cakeislife1234 how are you feeling?
@SarahAndQuack hope you are ok too.
This week just needs to crack on as it were.

SarahAndQuack · 05/10/2025 21:58

Glad your transfer went well, @InfertilitySWS. Sorry it was painful! Seems to be more common than my clinic thinks - the nurse who did my consent form beforehand read out the risks and laughed at 'pain' being one of them, as she said she has never heard of anyone finding it painful.

@Sara237 - good luck for tomorrow! The waiting must be doubly horrible if you're not at home. I always find hotel rooms, however nice, make me feel a bit aimless. What time are you due in?

I am not enjoying the steroids I'm on, or the increased progesterone - but my mood is so much better (which I think is the oestrogen?) than it has been for months.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Sara237 · 06/10/2025 05:58

@SarahAndQuack I feel like that re mood also, it's defo the oestrogen. I'm perimenopausal so could probably use hrt after all this is done with. Transfer is 11.30. I'm shattered, weird person in next room has been stomping since 3am and must have flushed about 10 times, don't you just hate people sometimes... 😭

SarahAndQuack · 06/10/2025 07:42

Oh, how annoying!

But: good luck today. Hope it all goes well. Thinking of you.

InfertilitySWS · 06/10/2025 07:43

@Sara237 ah god, not what you need the morning of! What time is transfer?

@SarahAndQuack how many days past transfer are you now?

I’m already going wild with the symptom spotting even though I know it’s too soon, oh how I hate the 2ww!

Hope all goes well to@Sara237

ive got bloods today at 11am and then all being well transfer is tomorrow at 2pm. I’m trying not to think about it but taking meds so regularly makes it hard to forget lol

dreading the 2ww already and I’m not even in it, @InfertilitySWS I hope you manage to last until Thursday/Friday and you get those two lines!

SarahAndQuack · 06/10/2025 07:51

My transfer was Thursday, so this is day 4.

Do you have things to help you keep your mind off it? I am trying to just ignore it. Not easy.

StillBelieving2 · 06/10/2025 08:26

Morning all, sorry for the silence. My distraction from 2WW to fly to Ireland was cancelled after waiting 5 hours in the airport, thanks storm Amy 🤦‍♀️
OTD and a very loud negative. Gutted.

We said this was the last embryo and were unsure whether to try again - I already feel too old at 37! Especially with comments on my womb being 'calcified' with fibroids as a normality of getting older and the day of transfer commenting my uterus/cervix/whatever was 'quite tough'
I think I would like to try again, if we have normal odds. But wondering if anyone has had specific endometrium investigations? Like a hysterscopy ?
Send lots of luck and baby dust to those waiting transfer or 2ww!

Sara237 · 06/10/2025 09:03

@StillBelieving2 I'm so sorry to hear this. It's such a rollercoaster and so hard when you see that negative. If you have all these fibroids, I'm a bit confused why this wasn't treated prior to transfer. 37 is not old, are you creating decent blastocysts? Perhaps it is the endometrial issues which is at least easier to treat. I had a private scan at ultrasound direct which showed a large polyp and then took that to my doctor which sped up the process of getting it removed. They had hysteroscopy and treatment in one under GA. When you've had some time to recover from this cycle, you could have a hysteroscopy, as you've been told about all the issues. Rest up.
@cakeislife1234 Hope tests all go well, suddenly occurred to me I've had no bloods this cycle ... 🤔
@InfertilitySWS Thanks, it's 11.30 this morning. I hear you re the 2WW. If only time went as slowly on holiday!
@SarahAndQuack Thanks, can't believe tomorrow is your day 5. Your 2WW is going quite quickly for me if not for you. 😜
Banging headache, no sleep, feel a wreck. Going to be a long day. Think I'll cry at clinic. Just want it to be done.

cakeislife1234 · 06/10/2025 09:09

@StillBelieving2 I’m so sorry to hear, it’s such a difficult journey to navigate. I really hope you get some rest and time to process this.

I also had polyp removal with hysteroscopy last year, although I didn’t want it under GA so I was conscious, but it wasn’t painful. The most painful bit was how long I was on the waiting list, was about a year in total! Xx

StillBelieving2 · 06/10/2025 10:30

Thanks both. The Fibroids were only found as part of my baseline scans and despite some confusion on the type of fibroid (which relates to location and therefore implications of IVF) no one seemed that concerned, they simply said they could work round it. So I'll definitely be asking about that.
This is my 1st round of IVF @Sara237 , after concerns of OHSS I only ended up with 7 follicles, 4 retieved due to 'issues' and only 2 made it to 5 day blastocysts. We were very luckily successful with a 5AB resulting in my now 3 year old. The second one was this months FET at 4BB which still looked great and was expanding post thaw.

I'm not really sure the difference in polyps and fibroids sorry, but was both of yours @cakeislife1234 and @Sara237 removed in preparation for IVF or just for general health?

Oh, no, I am so, so sorry.

You are absolutely not too old, love. At 37 you are a baby. I'm 41 soon. I have a fibroid - they found it during investigations but just said it is normal (after the stupid woman commented 'to take this out we would need to remove your uterus,' and a pause the size of a continent before she added 'but of course we don't need to'). I think they are usually not a problem - apparently lots of women wouldn't even know they had them. You inherit a tendency towards them from your mother.

I think it's so easy to get caught up in numbers, but the bottom line is that you are making healthy blasts that get to day 5. You read people saying 'oh, I had 30 follicles and we collected 20 mature eggs,' and you worry - but very often, those people only end up with a couple of good-quality blasts too. Would it be at all possible to bank some embryos, then have some investigations?

SarahAndQuack · 06/10/2025 10:45

Sorry to double post, but if it helps - statistically, getting 2 day-5 blasts from 4 eggs is over the standard attrition rate, right? So you know your body is doing that bit well. That's the thing to cling onto at the moment.

Sara237 · 06/10/2025 10:57

@StillBelieving2 Mine was found on day 10 scan of a cycle which led to that cycle being cancelled as was so big. I was told having a polyp linked to inflammation and reduced implantation. So was discovered for IVF and removed for IVF and health if that makes sense.

StillBelieving2 · 06/10/2025 11:08

Thank you for your speedy replies, its so good during a quite lonely sad time!
Yes we've been quite lucky really with a low output to get this far, although we certainly haven't take it for granted you really hope the odds stay in your favour! You're so right @SarahAndQuack I have 2 friends who had a massive result in egg collection etc but ultimately theyre in the same boat as us all, in that it only takes one. Although rubbish for us all about these random findings, glad to hear I'm not alone there too!

I think I need to give my head a shake re age, maybe ask for some investigationswith the fibroids and my OAP womb. But then if we still would like to grow our family I've to dust myself off and give it our best shot ❤️
Thanks so much xx

It may not be luck. As I understand it, some people's bodies are just more inclined to 'select' for good eggs than others - so you naturally end up with a lower number of good ones. Other people's bodies get the same result by producing more follicles to start with.

I really relate to what you're saying about having to dust yourself off. I feel the same - I am not at all hopeful about this transfer and I am slightly dreading doing it all again, but I know I will regret it so much if I don't just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Sara237 · 06/10/2025 18:34

Transfer went really well. Can't believe it really. Now at airport waiting for 9pm flight. It made me realise how awful the previous one was. I don't know how they do it in Lisbon but something was very different. Also, test date is in 9 days so not quite a 2 WW for me. I queried this and they looked at me as if I was confused and said 9 days plus 5 days to get to blast is the 2 weeks. So test date next Wed I think. May the symptom spotting commence!

cakeislife1234 · 06/10/2025 19:07

@Sara237 glad you had a good experience, hope you have a safe flight home and a nice positive in 9 days! X

StillBelieving2 · 06/10/2025 20:23

@Sara237 glad to hear other all went well and hopefully your home resting soon. Odd how clinics are all so different, but it makes sense!

@SarahAndQuack thank you, thats really interesting about good eggs, I hope its all true! And we do just carry on don't we? I do wonder what I'll do with all the extra head space if we're successful again/decide to call it a day. Its so all consuming! How are you feeling? Almost half way there 👏

@cakeislife1234 I missed your post earlier, thank you. A year long wait list must have been a nightmare! I had a hernia op in Jan and was told it could be fastracked as it was delaying IVF so hopefully if needed, its still the case!

Miraclemuma03 · 06/10/2025 22:54

@StillBelieving2 sorry for the bfn and thr other complications. That must be so hard.

Congrats to everyone else who has had their transfers and are now in their 2ww, please do lots of self care and no matter what happens remind yourself you did everything right. Fingers xd for some bfp soon .
