Hi! I’m starting the process of a FET in September, transferring a 4AB early October. Trying for baby number two. Anyone else? Would be great to have people to talk to amongst the symptom spotting, line eyes and general freak outs ☺️

@ThisSunnyMember, I'm feeling a bit hormonal on the oestrogen, but basically fine. I hope you feel much better soon!

@Sara237, thanks, that's very kind. I have wonderful supportive friends. It's just that going to the clinic always reminds me how excited I felt about doing this with someone else, and it's hard to let go of that. But there we go! And I also have a lovely daughter who reminds me why it's all worth it, so I'm very lucky.

How are you doing? Have you something nice to do over the weekend to take your mind off things til Monday? I hope you're starting to feel over your cold now.

@Miraclemuma03 - oh, now I am definitely confused! I asked the clinic after my scan and they said a definite no. It was the heavy lifting they were worried about.

Maybe you can continue with light gardening and light duties. Our clinic tells us to resume normal activities but not to introduce anything new.

Yes, it's just tricky because my normal work is heavy work. Obviously I have tried to arrange things so that what I'm doing isn't super heavy, and I thought I'd done that. But the nurse at the clinic today said I shouldn't even be lifting a 60ltr bag of compost! I can't really do my job if I can't do that.

Yeah I get it. I worked in the landscaping industry doing all the heavy work and I had no light duties to do so in the end had to leave my job and it was decided id be a stay at home parent as my husbands income is enough but of course that's not always possible for everyone so my advice is to just do your best with what you can and try to get someone else to do the heavy lifting for you and of course thats not always possible either.

Sara237 · 26/09/2025 05:46

@SarahAndQuack feeling much better thanks. I don't do anything too physical after transfer, I was saying it was good you'd done the hard work BEFORE the transfer so you can take it easy after! I'd dead head some roses for example but no lifting, twisting or straining is usually the advice. Take it easy!

Sara237 · 26/09/2025 05:52

@SarahAndQuack Sorry just read your post properly about heavy lifting being your job. I thought you were just doing some gardening to take your mind off it all! Tricky one after transfer...can you take a few days off?

zirafica · 26/09/2025 09:16

Just had my call with the consultant and they want to do my natural modified FET with my next cycle. As I'm due next week, it's probably going to have to be the November one, which is disappointing, but at least we've got a plan!

SarahAndQuack · 26/09/2025 09:55

Thanks @Sara237. So glad you are feeling better! It's horrible being ill on top of everything else.

I'm a bit thrown because I thought I had got the heavy stuff out of the way - I wasn't expecting to see lifting a bag of compost as 'heavy lifting'. It's a really tricky one - on the one hand, I absolutely want to give myself the best shot. On the other, well, it's my job; I've been doing it for a while; I don't feel any strain lifting something that sort of weight.

I'm just figuring out an email to a couple of clients now.

@zirafica - glad you have a plan. Sorry it involves waiting around! IVF is a ton of waiting, isn't it?!

Mamafromtheblock · 27/09/2025 11:56

Hi all 👋🏻 can I join please? I was originally (and technically still am I suppose) in the September FET group but having encountered a few setbacks (why are there always more unexpected hoops to jump through! 😂) my transfer had been pushed back two weeks but is now booked for next Tuesday - eek! While technically still September I’m obviously quite behind the rest of the group and my TWW will be in October which hopefully will overlap with some of you in this group ☺️

Hows everyone doing? I hope everyone is feeling as relaxed and positive as possible and that this is the month for all of us 🤞🏼

Sara237 · 27/09/2025 12:51

@Mamafromtheblock Welcome and how exciting! Ah, the hoops, endless. You'll be close in timings to lots of others on here. I'd be happy just to get to transfer! Lots of support in this lovely thread.

Sara237 · 27/09/2025 12:56

Anyone else feel like they have flu on the ivf drugs? I've read about the 'ivf cold' and wonder if it is the drugs. After feeling a bit better the other day, I've felt worse with endless cough, tight chest, weak, hot, phlegmy...sorry TMI. I've also read that while a cold won't impact embryo transfer, a chest infection will reduce implantation odds as immune system is weakened and body not at best . There is literally always something. I just want to get to transfer next Monday but have a horrible feeling this illness will scupper things. Urgh. Should I contact clinic? Not mention it? Pray the germs are gone by Monday. Shut up and go back to sleep?!

Mamafromtheblock · 27/09/2025 13:32

Thanks @Sara237 i am very grateful to be in a position to transfer just quite a bit later than I originally hoped.

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling great. I did have a few cold symptoms Monday and Tuesday this week but they don’t sound as bad as yours and they suddenly cleared up overnight. Is your transfer this coming Monday or the following one?

Sara237 · 27/09/2025 13:41

@Mamafromtheblock Hi, it'd be the scan this Monday and if that's ok, the transfer the following Monday. I have literally done nothing this week...no appetite, no exercise. Not ideal!

cakeislife1234 · 27/09/2025 13:45

@Sara237i hope your journey is more straightforward now, hopefully all the awkward stuff is out of the way!

I’ve been told I have to do the progesterone as suppositories so I’m really not looking forward to that!!

Hiya hope you don’t mind me messaging but I’m also with Bourn hall. What was your outcome? Also feel like I’m bit in the dark with the FET plan. My period is due Friday 10th October and my FET has been booked for 30th October. What days do they scan you on? Will it be day one of my period? Thanks for your help 🙏🏽

But don't beat yourself up. I find it so easy to go into the cycle of 'what should I have done better' and it's draining.

SarahAndQuack · 27/09/2025 18:56

Damn, pressed send too soon.

I also had those symptoms, but I assume I had Covid as it was all over DD's school. I am just not thinking about it, so far as I can!

@Mamafromtheblock, welcome in!

InfertilitySWS · 27/09/2025 22:07

Hi all, so I had my lining scan yesterday and all good for transfer Friday the 3rd. Already so anxious. Also, unexpectedly ended up discussing transferring both of our embryos with the embryologist. She definitely was not for the idea, but we’ve requested it be considered by the consultant anyway. Honestly, I feel like I’ve been through the mill with IVF and am happy to put all my embryos in one basket 🤣 and just see what happens rather than go back if it doesn’t work.

@Sara237 oooh so your transfer will hopefully be 3 days after mine?! How are you feeling about it? I see you haven’t been feeling well, are you any better now? I’m not looking forward to the pessaries, 3 a day too 🤦🏻‍♀️

@InfertilitySWS glad your scan went well. Hope this week goes swiftly for you. I know where you're coming from re eggs in basket; I've thought long and hard about this also. If I ever get to transfer, I've decided on single as despite all the points you've made, the risks of twin pregnancy at my age (I'm 48) are too high. I actually found chatgpt mind blowingly helpful on this; it gave me personalised stats with my clinic to explain the pros and cons of each. Much more helpful than the rushed consultant i usually talk with!
I'm still coughing away and feeling dreadful. Hoping it's clear by next week. I cannot cancel after all this...
Urgh, the pessaries! I mean, they're doing their thing but yes, slippery slip through the day. Isn't IVF fun 😜

SarahAndQuack · 28/09/2025 17:30

I'm so sorry you feel so rotten, @Sara237. Sending you lots of get-well wishes.

Glad your scan went well, @InfertilitySWS.

I am also not enjoying the pessaries! It's not dignified! OTOH my mood is ok, which I think is the oestrogen, so I am just telling myself that is a very good thing.

I had my first lubion injection yesterday, and woah, they are not kidding when they say it may cause bloating! It's quite sore, too.

Sara237 · 28/09/2025 20:44

@SarahAndQuack thank you. Hope this next phase passes quickly. I know we shouldn't wish time away but this process is definitely not one to savour! I have my scan tomorrow. Feeling impending doom. I've sat in their car park weeping so many times it's like a dream to imagine it might be ok...

That sounds awful. I'm so sorry. It is such a brutal process, and I wish there were more understanding and care around it.

Wil be thinking of you tomorrow. xx

Miraclemuma03 · 29/09/2025 05:00

@InfertilitySWS glad to read your scans came back good and its a go ahead with a transfer for friday.

Miraclemuma03 · 29/09/2025 05:07

@Sara237 its definitely a process not for the weak of heart isnt it. Every woman that goes through this process whether its for your first or expanding your family you have to find the strengths you never knew you had to keep proceeding forward.

Mamafromtheblock · 29/09/2025 08:00

@Miraclemuma03 summed it up perfectly, couldn’t agree more. Hopefully all this strength and powering forward will be rewarded soon

@SarahAndQuack with you on the lubion! I find they sting quite a bit too. Still hoping I have to do them for 12 weeks though!!

Aw I’m sorry, it takes such a toll, I have everything crossed for you 🤞🏻 please let us know when you’re able to about your scan, sending love.
I understand what you mean about the risks of transferring 2 as well. I’m 37 so according to chatGPT in a bit of a grey area. Hope to hear back today. ChatGPT helped me craft an email to send to the clinic explaining my reasoning, so we will see.

@SarahAndQuack the pessaries are the worst aren’t they! I’d rather inject. Oof bloating isn’t great, do you get it from the progesterone too? Bit of a double whammy if so.

@TTCRainbowBubs I’m not with Bourn Hall, I’m with Gateshead Fertility, I think you might have tagged the wrong person! Our clinic scans 2 weeks after starting oestrogen, which you start on CD1, and that’s the only scan ours do. Then when lining is confirmed as okay transfer is a week later. Hope this helps!
