October FET

Hi! I’m starting the process of a FET in September, transferring a 4AB early October. Trying for baby number two. Anyone else? Would be great to have people to talk to amongst the symptom spotting, line eyes and general freak outs ☺️

Had a call with my clinic this morning and my provisional transfer date is actually end of November which is a bit disheartening, I was hoping it would be end of October/ start of November but alas it is not due to my cycle and clinic availability. I’ll move onto a November FET group if there is one, but will be good to read through your experiences of an October FET.

Only thing I’m concerned about is my smear test that was due Nov- I’ve got it booked in for end of September as advised by the clinic but if anything comes back abnormal (as it did before, prior to having the subsequent LLETZ procedure) then the transfer will be cancelled. I’m also trying to organise a TSH thyroid blood test through my GP which my clinic requires. Why is there so much admin that comes with IVF, I hate it lol

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling great @Sara237, are you feeling any better today or is it tonsillitis as you suspected?

Sara237 · 24/09/2025 13:13

@Georgiaivf there is so much admin to organise you're right! That does seem a long wait for transfer. I didn't realize clinics had such a waiting list. I used Bourne Hall in UK and there was no wait. With the blood test you mention if you wanted it more quickly, you could get it done privately. I've had it with ultrasound direct and it's always been quick and efficient. There's so many potential variables that can throw all our plans off but it's about edging ever closer and trying not to lose your mind in the process - or overshadow our day to day lives. I actually keep thinking why didn't I plan this for a few more weeks so that if it worked, I'd have a September baby. I have an August born but that's a whole other thread! Best of luck with everything.

Sara237 · 24/09/2025 13:16

I don't think it's tonsillitis just a cold. Just can't stay awake!

Waitingforday6 · 24/09/2025 14:00

Good luck @zirafica and everyone else embarking on their transfers! Hoping for a baby for every single one of you!!!! I'm sorry you were disappointed with the results, but think of the great chance you now have with your euploid! And I am sure there are lots of euploids left in the untested camp! I am ok thanks, still in limboland. I actually think I have been more emotional since stopping IVF meds. I have had one natural cycle since but it's really only been 6/7 weeks even though it feels longer so maybe I am still getting back to normal or maybe the pressure of it all is just slowly sinking in.
Hope you feel better soon @Sara237.
@Georgiaivf ah that's a shame. I was looking at late November too due to my cycle being a bit delayed but am now thinking after Christmas as we would be going away around the time of the beta hcg test. The joys of Christmas time and family abroad. It does feel like forever away (the following cycle is during the Christmas shutdown). I keep thinking 'does everyone think we just don't care about transfers?' 🤣

zirafica · 24/09/2025 15:11

@Waitingforday6 thanks so much, likewise! We've got our consultant call on Friday and then apparently it's about 2 weeks until we can get to a nurse who will walk me through the meds (if any, but I think I'd rather go for medicated rather than unmedicated FET, f-knows when I ovulate, especially after the CE) - my period should come in like 10 days but I expect that to be late with the consequences of CE as you mentioned so WE SHALL SEE.
@Georgiaivf omg end of Nov sounds AGES away. Why are they all so slow with this, surely it can't take this long :(

Georgiaivf · 24/09/2025 15:25

@Sara237 I am with Bourn Hall too! But not the Cambridge clinic. Everything we book with them appears to be for in 2/3 months time lol, it was the same with our egg collection. I’m only on cycle day 1 today, so they said on CD21 I’d start noresthisterone for 10 days, then await a breakthrough bleed and then begin the oestrogen, and eventually progesterone. In my head I’m wondering why we couldn’t just begin oestrogen after this current bleed but the soonest availability for a transfer was end of November.

Luckily I’ve been able to book my thyroid blood test on for the start of October through my GP so it will just be waiting for the results and the results of my smear also.

I know what you mean about timings, I was doing the workings out earlier to see due dates if this first transfer is actually successful, which is so silly to get my hopes up like that but I’ve done that throughout our whole TTC journey, just to torment myself it seems!

Glad it’s not tonsillitis, but I hope you start feeling better soon! Wishing you the best.

@Waitingforday6 ah I recall we were set to be on similar timelines, can’t help but feel I’m falling behind everyone else on the August IVF thread haha, it takes soooo long to get to transfer when you do a FET it seems. You go with the timings you are happy with, and enjoy the Christmas period 🤗 luckily my timings would mean we’d know one way or the other prior to Christmas- timing is still not great if it goes tits up lol but myself and my husband agreed if it’s not successful we can try again with a new transfer in the new year!

Georgiaivf · 24/09/2025 15:28

@zirafica ah sorry cross posted! Yes it feels very far away- as I put below they’re putting me on noresthisterone to control my bleed as I’m very irregular. So I’m essentially starting on my next (controlled with medication) cycle and not this one. My transfer is over 2 months away, I was hoping it would be October tbh. Slightly disheartening but just got to suck it up and subtract myself in the mean time! Are you awaiting timelines from your clinic?

Edited

lol this was supposed to say *distract not subtract at the end. The brain fog on my first natural cycle after egg collection is unreal tbh, @Waitingforday6 I definitely feel more emotional on the comedown from all the medication than I did during stims etc. Worst was day 5 after EC and then I was very aggy leading up to CD1 which ended up being today haha

zirafica · 24/09/2025 15:46

@Georgiaivf this is all so frustrating isn't it! i'm so sorry for the delay but i also sometimes think maybe all of this happens with a reason. not that i am in the background stressing with the potential impact each delay has on star signs and I DON'T EVEN BELIEVE IN ASTROLOGY lol
yeah, got to speak to the doctor on friday, and then the nurse (which apparently takes 2 weeks to get an appointment) and then if by some magic i haven't got my period before then i am assuming i'd start any drugs i need to take when it comes? if it comes in the meantime, then i suppose i'm waiting till november as well (and potentially birthing a virgo GOD HELP ME) 😆

@zirafica looool I actually hadn’t thought of the astrology sign side of it before 🤣🤣 I used to be quite concerned with having a due date around the cut off for starting school and making them oldest/youngest in the class (aka August/September split) and also having a due date around Christmas, but I’m not so fussed now, there are pros and cons to all due dates tbh.
I hope your appt comes round soon, everything definitely happens with more delay than I had anticipated with IVF tbh, patience is a virtue and all that ✌🏻

SarahAndQuack · 24/09/2025 21:33

Lovely to see Bourn Hall mentioned! My daughter came from there.

I am all nervous about my tracking scan tomorrow. I spent a lot of today laying turf and I am properly shattered, and tomorrow I am going to do some heavy work pruning trees (I'm trying to get the hard stuff out of the way before embryo transfer). I really want work to take my mind off it! But I'm finding it hard not to stress.

Limmers14 · 24/09/2025 23:17

Hi ladies! Joining this thread as I think I’m in for an October transfer! I’m now also going to look up astrology 😂

I’m on Day 57 of my cycle after egg retrieval in June. (4 PGTA embryos ready to go plus some untested 5day ones in the freezer) I contacted my clinic last week and the nurse saw me today to do a scan. They think I didn’t ovulate this month so they’ve put me on Norhisterone for 10 days to induce a bleed and then back in for a scan to start the process. I’ve got all my meds for the transfer stage ready to go! We have to cancel a trip at the end of October to make the dates work but I’m fine if it means we can transfer

Miraclemuma03 · 25/09/2025 03:06

@Limmers14 welcome. Hopefully the meds help bring on a period and you can do your transfer. 4 tested embryos is amazing. Fingers xd for great success.

My turn to wait for my period now. Im pretty sure iv ovulated so now we just wait. Im getting a bit nervous about the costs, the travel and transferring our last embryo. Hubby is now inbetween jobs so we are relying on savings so the finances are worrying me, he is in the middle of setting back up his business and chooses right now to do so, so that makes me extremely nervous and stressed out. Im scared the transfer wont work and im pretty sure that is probably the end of ttc for us as I dont think I can keep doing ivf as its starting to take a toll. And the travel is a 4hr round trip if there is no traffic and I dont have to stop along the way and my apps are usually early in the morning so its a juggle with kids and school and all the things . My brain just lives in overdrive all the time , its probably not healthy lol

cakeislife1234 · 25/09/2025 06:09

Hi everyone hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread!
im currently on oestrogen, period started last weds late on so CD1 was 18th sept. Got a lining scan on Monday 29th, is it normally about 7 days between scan and transfer? I literally have no idea what to expect timings wise! If lining is ok Monday I’ll start progesterone suppositories and LMWH injections too

SarahAndQuack · 25/09/2025 08:25

Morning all. Lining scan for me today. I have 3 hours of gardening to distract me beforehand, which is good. @Miraclemuma03, that sounds stressful about the work situation, and the commute! I thought mine was bad at 90 mins. I lost my job just after I started this cycle, so it's been a rollercoaster here too. I am slowly getting freelance work, but I do feel nervous.

SarahAndQuack · 25/09/2025 08:26

Hi @cakeislife1234! I am clueless about timings too, but sounds as if we're in roughly the same stage. Good luck!

Sara237 · 25/09/2025 10:43

@cakeislife1234 Welcome! We have the same timelines. I've had issues with past two scans, polyp and early ovulation so will be anxious on Monday, eek! Transfer is usually a week after scan. How exciting and simultaneously stressful this feels. Hope your scan goes well!
@Limmers14 Welcome! You've a great haul there with 4 tested and more on ice! How are you feeling on the Norhisterone? Hopefully your close to starting now.
@SarahAndQuack I think all that hard physical exercise is a great way to focus the body and calm the mind. I did some gardening last week and it was the first time I'd felt like myself in ages. Sorry about your job; that's a lot of uncertainty alongside all this IVF stress. Hope scan goes well today 🤞.
@Miraclemuma03 I hear you regarding the frazzled brain, it's so hard to detach from it. Like you, it's our last attempt. I often think had I not been consumed by this the past few years, we could have had epic holidays and weekends away but then again, I think if he gets to have a sibling it'll be worth it. Hope you find some head space somehow!

SarahAndQuack · 25/09/2025 13:11

@Sara237 thanks! That's actually really reassuring - I need to ask the clinic if I'm still ok to garden during the 2WW (assuming I get that far). All my instincts say it's probably good to be active and I'm fit and healthy, but a friend of mine who did IVF (admittedly, she was 50 at the time) was horrified at the idea of not just resting up all the time.

SarahAndQuack · 25/09/2025 18:14

Scan done. All looked ok so I'm booked in for next Thursday. I wish I could get through a clinic visit without ending up in tears though! (In the car, not in front of them!). I was so excited about my first cycle last year, and it feels really rotten doing it on my own now.

ThisSunnyMember · 25/09/2025 19:06

Hi all - hoping it is ok for me to join? I started progynova 2 days ago and now just waiting for a date for a scan from the hospital. I did my egg collection back in Jan, we then needed to wait for genetic testing (my partner carries a genetic condition which is why we are doing IVF), we got the results back in June and we have 3 embryos which are clear of the gene which are now frozen. I’ve been so busy and travelling lots with work so put the transfer process on hold but now we are going for it. It will be my first transfer so very nervous and unsure what to think and expect! All I know is these tablets have wiped me out and I have a constant headache, hoping my body will adjust over the next couple of days, please tell me it will!?

SarahAndQuack · 25/09/2025 19:47

Hello! Welcome in. It's my first transfer too - everything is new news!

What meds are you on? I'm just on oestrogen atm, but starting lubion and progesterone pessaries soon. I am not looking forward to the pessaries!

ThisSunnyMember · 25/09/2025 21:26

Thank you! I’m on oestrogen now and will also start progesterone pessaries when I am told to which I’m also not looking forward to!! How are you feeling on the oestrogen? Any side effects or all good?

Sara237 · 25/09/2025 21:36

@SarahAndQuack Good news on your scan and transfer date booked. Do you have much support? You mentioned you're doing this alone. I don't like to think of you crying in your car alone. Sending a virtual hand hold. Hope you are ok. It's such a a rollercoaster physically and emotionally.
@ThisSunnyMember Welcome! That's great news about your embryos and that you'll have your first transfer soon. The oestrogen can make you feel exhausted at first though some feel great on it. There's something about being on the treatment cycle that's intense too. It takes its toll. Look after yourself.

Yes stay active without exerting yourself in the 2ww. Gardening is perfectly fine, same as exercise and housework. Obviously rest when your tired or feeling exhausted. Thats good about your scan going well and im sorry you are crying alone in your car. Lots of love and cuddles your way.

SarahAndQuack · 25/09/2025 23:15

@ThisSunnyMember, I'm feeling a bit hormonal on the oestrogen, but basically fine. I hope you feel much better soon!

@Sara237, thanks, that's very kind. I have wonderful supportive friends. It's just that going to the clinic always reminds me how excited I felt about doing this with someone else, and it's hard to let go of that. But there we go! And I also have a lovely daughter who reminds me why it's all worth it, so I'm very lucky.

How are you doing? Have you something nice to do over the weekend to take your mind off things til Monday? I hope you're starting to feel over your cold now.

@Miraclemuma03 - oh, now I am definitely confused! I asked the clinic after my scan and they said a definite no. It was the heavy lifting they were worried about.
