Hi! I’m starting the process of a FET in September, transferring a 4AB early October. Trying for baby number two. Anyone else? Would be great to have people to talk to amongst the symptom spotting, line eyes and general freak outs ☺️

@Sara237 i think its one of the hardest things in the world to show up for others when you are losing yourself and then when its finally your time, no one is there to have your back.. your well in yiur rights to feel upset especially when you thought she would be your support system knowing first hand what you went through..

Miraclemuma03 · 25/10/2025 07:24

Do not like these progesterone capsules. They are a bit of a nightmare to keep up high enough for them to do their thing and they are a little bit uncomfortable while absorbing and when the excess removes. Also 2 days in and already side effects have started. The bloating has started, cramps, tiredness. The feeling tired also doesn't help since I dont remember when I actually slept properly last. And has started setting off the headaches.

Miraclemuma03 · 25/10/2025 07:30

Of course though my husband thinks he has a brilliant and clever way of keeping them in and up high. Can only shake my head.

@SarahAndQuack @Miraclemuma03 thanks, it's hard when friendship feels conditional. I know it's triggering when you long for a baby yourself but I naively thought she'd be able to still show up as it were. I've had so many friends fall pregnant over the years and for some reason it didn't trigger me in the same way. I saw it as completely separate to my experiences. But I know we all process things differently of course. Thanks for replies.

Are you able to talk to her about it?

I hope I generally manage to seem enthusiastic about other people's babies! I think you're right we all react differently.

@Miraclemuma03 I absolutely hate utrogestan capsules. So very fed up with them now.

@Wen19 Hi, I just read your messages and they resonated a lot as I've also used donor eggs and am 48. I'm 6 weeks pregnant and got a positive on day 6. A very faint line. The impending doom feeling...I hear you! I'm having terrible evenings at the moment where I just feel miserable/uncertain/overwhelmed yet fine in the day! The crying is definitely the meds, the hormones and remember it's a lot to carry and process. Personally I'm all over the place.
@SarahAndQuack Roll on Monday for your viability scan. Will be thinking of you. These aches and weird feelings are really disconcerting. I also get aching in right side and start catastrophising. It's so hard not to!

Hi Sara, thank you so much for replying, it’s so comforting to know someone else is using donor eggs.
did you get any signs? It’s so hard I don’t know my own body at the minute because of the hormones lol.
I tested this morning again and it was stark white. :(
I know it’s early still but I just have a feeling.
the cramps have stopped now. But the night sweats oh my god.
was this your first round? Xxx

Oh my Lord, but isn't that true of all of it?

IVF is such a strange mix of absolutely cutting-edge medicine and primitive botches, isn't it? I was talking to a friend of mine about worries around ectopic pregnancy, and she had assumed (understandably!) that IVF would solve that problem, rather than making it more likely. And I had to explain no, actually, nature gets it wrong sometimes, but doctors are still not as good at nature at getting the embryo into the right place! It must be fascinating and also very difficult, to be a medic working on this subject.

Sara237 · 25/10/2025 10:41

@Wen19 The trouble is that the symptoms of it working are the same as if it hasn't so complete emotional rollercoaster. It's my first attempt with donor eggs previously I had 2 rounds of IVF with own ingredients from which I got my son who is now 8 plus failed rounds frozen. In all honesty, I wish I'd done this sooner! Sorry to hear about the night sweats, I had them when breast feeding I've not had them yet. I'm guessing you're using early detection tests? Still really early days for you. When is your official test date?

This has cheered me up! Men eh?! 😂😂

Sara237 · 25/10/2025 14:52

@Wen19 It's completely understandable after so much waiting you just need to do something. I didn't test till day 6 and that's still early. I've had some wild dreams lately also a particularly vivid one of me driving a huge camper van but the front window completely concealed so no idea of where I'm heading...pretty good summary of my current state! Really hope you see that line soon.

Miraclemuma03 · 25/10/2025 20:47

@SarahAndQuack and it also shows you how new this technology is and how most people unless going through it, have no understanding, everyone thinks its a quick fix and dont understand how you can still miscarry or have chromosomal abnormalities. The science isnt bomb proof what so ever.

I havnt had my transfer yet and working out what my next steps are. I dont want to be negative what so ever but I cant help it. I completely understand where your coming from. But some woman dont get their positives until 8dpt. Im one of those included. When my transfer worked for my son he was a day 3 fresh transfer and I didnt get my first very very light positive until 9dpt which would have been 7dpt if he had been a 5 day embryo, at 11dpt it got a little bit darker and my beta at 14dp3dt was around 92 or 96 . Hopefully for you that you get that outcome with a later implantation but just wanted to let you know that it does happen.

Miraclemuma03 · 25/10/2025 20:58

@PlanBFertility hahaha he cracks himself up hahaha

Miraclemuma03 · 25/10/2025 21:00

How long after taking your progesterone did you start to get side effects. The headaches have now started for me. Im hoping after a few more days on the progesterone the side effects calm down.

SarahAndQuack · 25/10/2025 21:05

I don't get headaches on progesterone, but it affects my mood badly, and lubion seems to make me bloated/sore. I found the effects were pretty much straight away - maybe a couple of days to build?

I am so, so, so glad I'm on oestrogen to balance the progesterone now. Honestly, the hardest thing in all of this for me is down-regulating with progesterone; it makes me feel appallingly low.

Miraclemuma03 · 25/10/2025 21:11

@SarahAndQuack bloating seemed to have started by my second dose but headaches started yesterday after my 4th dose. I dont usually suffer with headaches but I have a migraine issue but when I do ivf I have headache issues lol so no winning

Oh, that's rotten. I used to get hormonal migraines - weirdly, they became far less bad after my first pregnancy, and these days I rarely get them at all. It's obviously all connected.

I hope you feel much better soon!

Sara237 · 25/10/2025 21:30

@Miraclemuma03 Sorry to hear you're getting bad headaches. I usually get monthly migraines but one advantage of all these meds is seems to stop them. Make sure you're eating enough and hydrated. People always say get lots of rest, I don't think they have young children! Hope they ease off soon.

Sara237 · 25/10/2025 21:33

The nausea is such that I have to eat near constantly to keep it at bay. The second my stomach feels empty, it kicks in. I read today that high protein can help. I also read an interesting study suggesting the sickness and nausea is an evolutionary strategy to protect the baby from certain foods. Interesting 🤔

SarahAndQuack · 26/10/2025 08:00

That sounds rotten, @Sara237. I've heard the same about evolution, though. Do you know (I've not looked it up), is sickness worse with donor eggs? I know my friend who had a donor egg had bad sickness and thought it might be to do with that - the baby effectively making your body fall into line with it! - but we never actually checked?

(This reminds me, you probably know, but have you heard the lovely thing about foetal microchimerism?)

I am not feeling especially sick, but it is what it is (she says, firmly, trying not to catastrophise).

Hopefully after a few more days on these capsules everything starts to calm down. Im definitely eating enough, probably have over eaten and indulged in a bit more chocolate then I ever usually would eat , I probably need to increase my fluids that isnt coffee, especially when im out in the hot sun working with the horses. Im trying to increase my fluids and make sure im not dehydrated especially before the transfer and during the 2ww. I do carry a rather large drink bottle around with me and try to drink that during the day.

ClaireBear101 · 26/10/2025 11:02

@miraclemuma03 I agree on the cyclogest. I hate the side effects. But hang in there! How is it going for you.

Ive been quiet as Friday was day 3 and we agreed to wait and see for a blast at day 5. Ive only ever had 1 or 2 at day 3 so they just put them back in so I was so scared for today.
Lot of crying and emotions. Doesn't help in a same sex couple when the others starting that time of the month and also a crank hahaha.but got the call 8.30 this morning.
A beautiful 4AB embryo ready today for transfer so heading in at 12.30.
I can't believe it. Possibly more to freeze tomorrow but we shall see. All I need is one and the doctors been so positive that a good quality embryo is what I need as ive shown I can get pregnant so hes really positive which helps.

Girls what I will say is you are all warriors. IVF is a tough process and you're doing bit! Side effects and all. I really hope the best for each and everyone of you.
I'm praying that 4th times the charm for me and even if you guys fail on the first go or second just be kind to yourself. X

SarahAndQuack · 26/10/2025 11:07

That's wonderful news @ClaireBear101! Yay for that lovely day 5 embryo!

Let's not talk about 'even if you fail,' eh?
