Thought I would start a thread as can't see one already
Anyone in the same boat who'd like to chat?
It's our first round. Likely to need a freeze all which I'm quite disappointed about as means won't even transfer until Nov.
I'm on short protocol.
Feeling pretty fed up ATM tbh, partly because it's come to this but also just want to get going, currently just waiting for my period early sept and feels like my life is on hold until then!

Hi everyone! How are we all doing? Im just waiting for day 1 now. Should start at any time. My app says around the 5th but thats very unlikely but stranger things have happened lol . Looks as though some of you have already started stims. How are they treating you. I probably already said but il be doing a modified natural FET.

Happyclappy22 · 29/08/2025 10:21

Welcome @camelinastorm nice to have to you! Currently on day 6 (tonight) of stims. Also hoping to do a fresh cycle. Is antagonist short protocol?

@Miraclemuma03 so far on the stims I’m good. Feel a lil gassy ( tmi- as in farting more often) not sure if that because of the stimming or the lentils I’ve been having for the last few days 🤭. Has anyone had this experience ?

how is everyone else doing ? Who else is stimming? How you finding doing the injections ?

Backtotheicsi · 29/08/2025 15:55

I’m feeling fine on the stims just very full, I had a scan today though and she was asking if I felt ok as most people get moody and angry lol
scan went fab looking almost ready already which is crazy to me as in the past I’ve had to stim 14 days but looking at possible egg collection Tuesday/Wednesday with a scan this Sunday to confirm as long as everything is still coming along! Fingers crossed!

hopefully your period comes on time but we all know our bodies have minds of their own with these things!

Hahaha i think it could be a little from both. I was bloated, miserable, moody, gassy, on all the ivf meds last cycle. After stopping all the progesterone i had a major hormonal crash and gosh that was rough. I needed to take a break for one cycle before continuing and I still feel as though I havnt recovered.

pastelheart · 30/08/2025 16:33

Hi all! And welcome anyone new who has joined

how was the rest of everyone’s week?

so I am officially day 1! So baseline scan is booked for Monday morning and then hopefully straight onto stims. Feeling excited and hopeful amongst many other emotions

has anyone got anything fun planned for the weekend? My partner and me are going to a bodybuilding competition tomorrow, as one of my partners clients is competing. My partner is a competitive bodybuilder and coach hence the client, looking forward to watching the show though as won’t be stressed like i normally am when he is competing x

pastelheart · 01/09/2025 12:36

Hey everyone, just got back from my baseline scan and everything is looking good! Start stims tonight. Is anyone else using Ovaleap? X

Klmno · 01/09/2025 23:07

Just catching up on here after a weekend away with friends. It was a good distraction but I've not told many of them about this so was kind of hard faking being ok.

Hope everyone who's started stims is doing ok!

How was your scan on Sunday @Backtotheicsi? Good luck with egg collection!!

I'm getting nervous about starting stims now.
Period due Monday so will probably have started them this time next week.
Not really nervous about doing the injections but I'm scared of feeling hormonal

pastelheart · 01/09/2025 23:50

@Klmno I have done my first day of stims and it was all fine! Don’t be nervous x

Happyclappy22 · 02/09/2025 10:25

@pastelheart glad to hear scan is looking good!

@Klmno distractions are always good! Although I still find it hard to balance being distracted and staying focused. Don’t be nervous about stims you’ll be fine!

I'm currently on day 10 and had my monitoring scan. Feel a lil sad as they said that there are currently 2 follicles which are maturing well but the others are not quite there. I am paraphrasing because nurse was reluctant to say too much and I could read that she was trying to be super positive. They said I will need to keep stimming 😖 and ordered more meds. They will give me a call later to increase or let me know what will happen. Anyone had anything similar ?

AnonTTC · 02/09/2025 10:37

Hi everyone,

Hoping I can join this thread :)

I am starting stims mid next week and this is our first ever cycle!! We've already been told we will need to do a freeze all, so I am with you OP! Hope you're all doing well and excited.

I'm equally nervous and excited. We have been doing ovulation induction until now, and part of me wants to try that for a bit longer and see but also keen to get cracking with the IVF!

Backtotheicsi · 02/09/2025 16:19

Hey @Klmno scan was great and had egg collection earlier. I’ve had 3 (previous 2 8 years ago) and this one was amazing an absolute walk in the park!

I was ready sooner that expected which is unusual for me as in the past I have had to order extra meds and stim for longer too.

I hope everyone is feeling ok, the stims are really fine it’s crazy how quick you get used to the routine of it and the injections become a piece of cake!

Happyclappy22 · 02/09/2025 16:55

@Backtotheicsi that sounds amazing! What were the outcomes for those previous collections? How old are you if you don’t mind me asking? Any tips on how to help follicles grow?

Backtotheicsi · 02/09/2025 17:27

@Happyclappy22 the results were ok I had one blast BB grade to transfer first cycle ended in a chemical and second cycle I only had bc blasts so they can’t freeze those but against all odds I had my daughter from that fresh transfer that cycle!
im 31 now, was very young last time but so far seems to be going better this time? We did long protocol in both previous cycles and this time have been on short protocol so not sure if that has made a difference so far but obviously no idea how the quality actually is yet.
no tips I’m sorry seems to be different for everyone and every time. Fingers crossed you get some lovely quality eggs but if it’s first cycle they will learn so much from this too because now they will know your response to meds etc. I’ll be thinking of you keep us updated!

Backtotheicsi · 02/09/2025 17:28

@AnonTTC welcome! That’s great that things are moving forward and there’s a couple of us who are not first cycle so any questions throw them out there and hopefully one of us will know! What is the reasoning for a freeze all if you’re happy to share? I know there can be lots of reasons. Good luck!

AnonTTC · 02/09/2025 18:34

Aww thank you @Backtotheicsi - the MN community is so helpful and has seriously helped me through this process.

We were told freeze all because I had PCOS and high AMH (94!!!) so I am at high risk of OHSS, which I kind of expected. Obviously there’s a chance I could produce less follicles than they are expecting and I’d hope in that scenario they would be willing to discuss a fresh transfer, but for now my consultant said best to assume it’s freeze all. I’m okay with it because OHSS does make me nervous so I’d rather wait and minimise the risk. Well hopefully have our egg retrieval end of this month and all being well a transfer in November 🤞🏼

Where are you up to? I can see you did a longer style cycle? X

Backtotheicsi · 02/09/2025 18:50

@AnonTTC oh wow yes that sounds sensible with that amh 😂🙈 at least you have a plan!
im ok had short protocol so did 10 days of stims from period and had egg collection today xx

Haha I know!!! Hoping I don’t have lots of not so good quality eggs but only time will tell I guess. From what I gather there isn’t much correlation between how many eggs are collected and total number of embryos and it seems to be more about quality, so fingers crossed.

ah that’s so exciting!! Hope you’re feeling okay after it and you got a good result :) x

pastelheart · 02/09/2025 21:20

@Happyclappy22sorry the scan wasn’t what you were expecting, but they are keeping a close eye on it and maybe the extra few days and/or increase in meds will do the trick. Did you hear back from them today?

welcome @AnonTTC I have also been super excited the whole way through this process and starting your meds will fly round!

@Backtotheicsi yay for egg collection and I’m glad it went well

I am day two of stims and my stomach is so bloated and I am getting lots of stabby pains… is this normal for day two?! Other than that injections have been fine so that’s a relief

hope everyone else is ok! What stage is everyone at now? X

Klmno · 02/09/2025 21:24

Welcome @AnonTTC! We sound very similar. I also start stims next week. I've also tried 3 months of ovulation induction (tbh I'm not really sure why, as pretty sure I ovulate so shouldn't have been prescribed it?! But my progesterone levels are a bit higher than usual the months I've had the chlomid so maybe it's a 'better' ovulation. I don't want more of it though as told it can start making your lining thin if used for too many months.

@Backtotheicsi that's amazing that you only needed 10 days of stims and egg collection has already happened!! Glad it was straightforward.

I am so confused, is anyone else with Access and doing a freeze all? I've been told I'll probably need freeze all as I think my amh is mid 30s. Today I've seen there's an extra £800 charge with access if you do a freeze all, and I'm not really sure why?!! It's not clear why a freeze all makes everything more expensive? As surely (hopefully) some embryos go in the freezer anyway?! And it says that all frozen transfers are included
I'm a bit annoyed my clinic hasn't mentioned this before tbh
Messaged them today for more clarification but not heard back yet

OP posts:
YourTipsyDog · 02/09/2025 21:37

Hi @Klmno I am with access but not doing a ‘freeze all’. I do seem to remember seeing somewhere that they would charge you for this but I don’t know why, I can’t see what difference it would make to them. Are you not able to do a fresh transfer because of the risk of OHSS?

Klmno · 02/09/2025 21:42

My notes just say that 'As the AMH is high there is a risk of overstimulation of the ovaries and we may advise all embryos are frozen as pregnancy can aggravate this' so I have been thinking based on that I'm more likely than not to have a freeze all. Which I was okay with but now feel quite upset nobody mentioned the extra £800 this would involve!

OP posts:
camelinastorm · 02/09/2025 21:43

@Klmno my clyle starts Friday (pill induced so should be on time) so I'm about the same timings as you, super scary, I haven't even checked all my meds that is a tomorrow job

@Happyclappy22 I had to have 2 more days of stims on my last round I got 4 too grade blasts from it, unfortunately miscarried both transfers (double transfer)

All my bloods came back today some results were quite strange tbh but they have said it may be as I'm on the pill as some results was quite low
I start my injections on the 10th September

Backtotheicsi · 02/09/2025 21:50

@pastelheart that sounds about right for me on day 2 I found the bloating calmed down and was replaced with full feeling ovaries but defo had stabbing pains on and off throughout.

im with access too and didn’t realise this? I would play it by ear about the freeze all as they may take your wants into consideration as long as the numbers aren’t crazy high and you’re not too ill. A nurse mentioned a possible freeze all to me so I messaged and they said discuss it with the consultant before egg collection but that if I had the dual trigger a fresh would be possible. The consultant today said unless I’m ill or if they had collected like 25+ eggs then usually fresh is ok so I was able to start progesterone tonight and hope for the best. It was important to me as in my previous cycle if we had had to freeze all we wouldn’t have had any frozen but my fresh poor grade embryo became my daughter. But everyone’s quality is different we are male factor so not sure if that’s part of it or a combination but we generally don’t produce good quality embryos unfortunately xx

Klmno · 02/09/2025 22:07

@camelinastorm I also need to sort out my meds. They arrived today, eek!

Thanks @Backtotheicsi maybe it's not as clear cut as it first sounded and maybe a fresh transfer would be possible. I would LOVE that to be the case as we go on hols just after it all and it would be a great distraction to be on holiday during the two week wait. But obviously don't want to get ill so will try and be guided by them. Just hope I don't have to pay almost a grand extra haha.
Isn't it amazing to think your little 'poor grade' embryo became your daughter...defied all odds. Is she still just as determined as she's got older?! 😝

OP posts:
Backtotheicsi · 02/09/2025 22:14

@Klmno aw she absolutely is, the most determined and confident!

just shows though that grading is subjective so I’ll definitely take it with a pinch of salt moving forward :)
