Thought I would start a thread as can't see one already
Anyone in the same boat who'd like to chat?
It's our first round. Likely to need a freeze all which I'm quite disappointed about as means won't even transfer until Nov.
I'm on short protocol.
Feeling pretty fed up ATM tbh, partly because it's come to this but also just want to get going, currently just waiting for my period early sept and feels like my life is on hold until then!

@pastelheart shes 7 :) which has flown!
aw ye it messes with your head all the dread of not wanting to wipe red and then trying to change that mind set. Fingers crossed it comes on time for you, but our bodies have a way of never doing things typically on an ivf month.
im only day 2 of stims so I haven’t felt anything yet, I’m on meriofert which I have never taken before. What will you be taking? X

YourTipsyDog · 23/08/2025 09:24

Is anyone else down-regulating? My period was supposed to start on Thursday but there’s no sign of it at all (none of the usual symptoms) I’m supposed to have my baseline scan on Tuesday and start stims on Wednesday so I’m a bit worried that this will put things back. Does anyone have any experience of this?

pastelheart · 23/08/2025 11:03

@Backtotheicsiahhh I know, I am going to be pissed if my womb doesn’t play ball this month lol!

I will be taking Ovaleap and ganirelix pre egg collection and then Lubion after egg collection

@YourTipsyDogsorry i am not down-regulating so can’t be any help, are you able to contact your clinic and ask for advice in the meantime? X

Backtotheicsi · 23/08/2025 12:38

@YourTipsyDog I’d definitely contact your clinic as it could be normal I think it depends what you’re taking. When I down regulated from memory I had a period a few days after starting and then nothing and when I went in for my baseline 4 weeks later they wanted to see a reasonable lining. But it has been 8 years and things could be different depending on what drug etc so just ring and ask if you should expect a period and what to do if you don’t have one. :)

@pastelheart ive never had any of them, I can’t believe how different everyone’s protocols can be the only thing that is the same for me this time is the bloomin progesterone things 😂

pastelheart · 23/08/2025 13:24

@Backtotheicsi omg how could I forget the the 20 million boxes a progesterone suppositories… can’t wait for those to start ConfusedConfused

NoNewsIs · 21/08/2025 21:09

@pastelheartthat is very kind of you to offer! I think as I’m long protocol and various other quirks, our circumstances are probably too different. But I know who to offer to pay to make me a personalised spreadsheet if it comes to it! Thank you :) and I’m sorry about your bank balance! Good tip re ChatGPT

@Happyclappy22I was hospitalised with a ruptured cyst, so it wasn’t planned at all. They saw some cysts during the surgery but were just dealing with the burst one. It seems some have grown considerably since then so I’ve been pillar to post between different gynaes specialising in fertility and endo as they try to agree on a plan.
I really appreciate your detailed explanation of how to do the buserelin injections! Thank you.

@NoNewsIs oh wow that must have been awfully painful. Do you know how big the cyst got ? Yeah endo is the just awful esp if you’ve already had surgery twice like myself. I hope they come up with a good treatment plan for you!

I was down-regulating because of endo and I started buserelin on the 13th and was due for a scan on the 20th. In that time my period still hadn’t come but came the next day (21st) I simply e-mailed my clinic and they said I should come in the next day (22nd) so I went for the pre FSH scan and my lining was still very thick (mind you I was on day 2 of my period which is usually my heaviest so was not surprised and also confused why they thought it would be thin enough to start stims) anywayyyys they have told me to come back tomorrow (day 4) and hopefully it’s thin enough to start stims. They also took blood tests.

Happyclappy22 · 23/08/2025 21:24

@YourTipsyDog my period was around 3 days late and I think that’s pretty normal when taking buserelin

YourTipsyDog · 23/08/2025 21:32

@Happyclappy22 thank you. It says on my notes to let them know if it’s not started before my scan but of course it’s bank holiday Monday and then my scan is at 8:30 on Tuesday 🤣

Happyclappy22 · 23/08/2025 21:42

😅😅😅that’s super helpful! Hopefully it comes before then but even if it doesn’t it will just have to be pushed back a lil.

YourTipsyDog · 23/08/2025 22:03

@Happyclappy22 that is reassuring to know, than you. Sorry if you have already said, how many cycles have you had previously (if any)? I am on my second so finding it a bit less worrying, but last time I was on short protocol so it is a bit different this time.

Happyclappy22 · 23/08/2025 23:48

This is my first cycle, never ever done this before so everything is new. I’m with the NHS, first ever convo was in March fast forward to today. Never in a million years thought I’d be doing this so still in shock lol. Have endo which was diagnosed 2021 also when I did my first laparoscopy and 2nd done in Nov last year .

YourTipsyDog · 24/08/2025 07:18

Ah @Happyclappy22 that was me in January (minus the endo) but we only had one chance with the NHS as we didn’t get any frozen. Now we are doing access 3 cycle package. Obviously everyone is different but I didn’t find the process too hard physically, but really struggled mentally, hence having such a long break before starting again. Having this support network is so useful though x

NoNewsIs · 24/08/2025 13:11

I’m out for now :(

The hospital have changed their mind and decided it’s too risky to do egg extraction before surgery. I’m having to decide whether to go private for surgery or wait three months just for consultation about next surgery. Probably going private as I’m late 30s and can’t really wait indefinitely.
@Happyclappy22thank you. The ruptured one had been 10cm big at last scan before it burst, but may have been bigger by when it happened! Gah.

I wish you all luck with your ivf!

Happyclappy22 · 24/08/2025 22:25

Awww I’m so sorry @NoNewsIs how annoying! All the best with your surgery and atleast when you get it done you’ll have peace of mind that everything is clear and cysts have been removed! It acc might be a blessing in disguise. All the best for you too !

Im so sorry for this news and that you cant move forward this time. Hopefully better news soon.

Miraclemuma03 · 25/08/2025 00:26

Iv been missing in action for a couple of days. Been really busy out on agistment with the horses and hubby took our 3yr old to hot wheels monster truck and im still recovering from this flu that has just lingered for weeks. Im trying to remain busy with life and not think about my upcoming fet as its giving me a little bit anxiety.

pastelheart · 25/08/2025 09:34

@YourTipsyDogany sign of your period yet? I hope it’s turned up!

@NoNewsIsah I’m so sorry, whatever you decide to do I am sure it will fly around for you x

@Miraclemuma03hope you are feeling better and over your flu

question from me that is starting to stress me out…

baseline scan around day 2 of your cycle, is obviously going to be when you are on your period quite heavy and it’s an internal scan… I am freaking out. What happens if you bleed on the scan table and cry? Do you wear a pad instead of a tampon to the appointment? I am scared lol please help me

YourTipsyDog · 25/08/2025 10:16

@pastelheart yes it finally started yesterday and now I’m having the exact same dilemma as you re: bleeding in the scan room! I did a ChatGPT (worrying how much I am using this) and it suggested that they would expect you to be bleeding at this point. It even helpfully suggested to wear a pad not a tampon or cup. I am planning to pop in to the loo just prior to freshen up a bit. I’ve got mine tomorrow so I can let you know how that goes!

pastelheart · 25/08/2025 10:19

@YourTipsyDog omg thank you so much! I didn’t even think to ask ChatGPT. I hope your scan goes well tomorrow, what time is your appt?

hope everyone has had a good weekend? What are you up to today for bank holiday?
I bought some new bedding yesterday so have got that on the line drying and we are going to go to Cardiff Bay this afternoon as they have a small funfair and stages for bands etc

where is everyone from? Anyone else in Wales? X

Thelonggame2025 · 25/08/2025 10:39

Hello all

Great to read other people stories it’s tough if you don’t have anybody that is going through the same thing as you. I’m 36 and all my friends have had their babies meaning I’m the last one left I’ve been trying naturally for 1.8 years with no success. Decided to start IVF but we had to cancel my August cycle because the follicle count Wasn’t as good as previous scans and my doctor thinks my body can do much better. My period was late by seven days due to anxiety and then after I finally came on and took the contraceptive pill on day 2 I experienced break through bleed throughout using the pill. After 11 days of the pill I stopped as instructed and was supposed to have a bleed 2 to 3 days later and that never materialise. I also had one dominant follicle and I didn’t want to pay all of this money if the odds were not in my favour. We would rather start again in the September cycle In the hope that the follicle count increases. Tough decision to make when it feels like I’ve already waited so long. My next scan is this Friday to understand where my body is cycle wise. The microgynon I took did not stop my period so they’re going to give me something different next time which apparently mimics the hormone rather than tries to block it. Fingers crossed by this Friday, I’ll know what September holds for me. Thanks for sharing your stories, It’s really comforting especially when you feel so alone on this journey thank you ladies.

Thelonggame2025 · 25/08/2025 10:46

@pastelheart @YourTipsyDog
i’ve gone in for a scan and been on my bleed last month, It’s absolutely fine. Remember They are totally used to it, I went into the toilets before hand freshened up with a wet wipe and because they have to put some form of jelly on the instrument it feels like you’re on your bleed anyway. Soon as it finished they leave give you lots of tissue and bits to sort yourself out, I re-refreshed up popped a pad on and that was that. Remember, it’s going to feel weird for you, but this is completely normal for them. Hope both your scans go well ladies

Happyclappy22 · 25/08/2025 10:58

@Thelonggame2025 welcome! Great to have you and anyone else who is new that I may have missed (sorry!)

@pastelheart not in Wales but London. What are most people’s ages ? And how long have people been trying ?

@pastelheart & @YourTipsyDog dw I was actually the same. My period came on the 21st and I had a pre-FSH scan the next day. It was pointless because the nurse said my lining was still very thick, which I totally knew would be the case (glad to know I’m not the only one who bleeds the heaviest on day 2!!) I had to come back 2 days later (Sunday) to which my lining shed significantly and I could start stimming. So now fast forward I’m using menopur and gonal in addition to buserelin which they have decreased the dosage.

I kept apologising to the nurse because I thought it was icky but like other fonts have said they are so used to it. Nurse actually told me not to apologise because it’s natural and they do this everyday 😅you guys will be totally fine! Please keep us updated on how the scan goes as the journey can be very lonely.

YourTipsyDog · 25/08/2025 11:01

Thanks @Thelonggame2025 I will do the same. I am in the same boat as you (36) most of my friends have children, none of them have had fertility issues (that I know of) so it is easy to feel quite alone. My scan is at 8:30 so at least it’s over and done with early on! Hopefully I’ll be ok to start my stims, I just want to get on with it!!

pastelheart · 25/08/2025 22:16

@Thelonggame2025 Welcome! I hope this next cycle is your lucky one and you get lots of embryos <3 thank you for the scan advice… honestly this has been keeping me up at night lol

@Happyclappy22I am 32 and my partner is 43 in a couple of weeks. We have been trying for 4 years, we knew there was a high chance we wouldn’t be successful due to treatment he under went a fair few years ago but he froze sperm so this is what we will be using. We started looking at IVF about two years ago but put it on hold when our house renovation went bad, but been in the house a year now and everything has settled down nicely. Thank you for the scan advice, I feel less anxious about it now… now I can worry about the other 209 things that come with ivf!
