Thought I would start a thread as can't see one already
Anyone in the same boat who'd like to chat?
It's our first round. Likely to need a freeze all which I'm quite disappointed about as means won't even transfer until Nov.
I'm on short protocol.
Feeling pretty fed up ATM tbh, partly because it's come to this but also just want to get going, currently just waiting for my period early sept and feels like my life is on hold until then!

@camelinastorm okay that’s good to know! Thank you. I start in Ganirelix in the morning so I wonder how much that’s going to spice things up

@boberto88this is my first cycle so all very new but it’s going well so far apart from being bloated and feeling like crap lol. How have you found your previous cycles?

@YourTipsyDogthats amazing news! How are you feeling about your egg collection?

@Happyclappy22honestly he keeps asking me and I’m like I AM FINE, do I not look fine?? And he was like well no you look royally pissed off… well I’m fine stop asking lol! Poor man.

amazing numbers! What size do they want the follicles to be?

@Happyclappy22@YourTipsyDog imagine if you are at the same wedding?!

camelinastorm · 06/09/2025 11:21

@pastelheart is Ganirelix the same as cetrodide like the suppression one

YourTipsyDog · 06/09/2025 13:29

@pastelheart I feel fine about it, the procedures and injections and things don’t worry me at all but I am worried that we will have similar results to last time which was that I wasn’t pregnant and I had no embryos to freeze. This time feels entirely different though and I’m feeling hopeful :)

Happyclappy22 · 06/09/2025 19:09

@pastelheart lol you’re funny! That was/is one of my fears that I’ll just be really snappy or look like I’m going through this. They said that between 18-22 is ideal but they will also take 12 upwards in retrieval day. I’m just praying we get quality more than anything else!

I doubt we were at the same wedding but would have been funny 😄.

just took my buserelain and will take my trigger in the next 2 hours 😬

hows it going for you? You must be on day 7 now? And you have your scans on Monday ? Things are really becoming real and speeding up for us

@YourTipsyDog Hows it going for you? Did you decide whether you’d take it before or head back home. What time do you have to take your shot ?

YourTipsyDog · 06/09/2025 20:06

@Happyclappy22 I’ve decided to go after I’ve done them, I’m doing a double trigger at 8:30 and then my usual meriofert and buserelin at 9, so I’m just sat waiting now! It’s so typical, I rarely go out and on the one night I am going out I have to do this! I’m glad though really, I want to get things moving.

How are you feeling about it all? How did your wedding go and how did you make your excuses to leave?xx

Happyclappy22 · 07/09/2025 11:14

@YourTipsyDog Oh you did it the other way round, because I did my buserelain first. So do I, a little nervous about tomorrow, couldn’t sleep properly I was soooo hungry I ended up waking up at 5am to make food then went back to sleep. That never happens for me and I’m quite petite/have a fast metabolism.

Wedding was good thanks and we got out perfectly because we didn’t really need an excuse as the wedding drive was 4 hours away so will obviously have to leave early and we had others with us so they needed to get back in time too 😄

was so glad to do the trigger yesterday and no injections tonight !!!! How was it for you yesterday ? How are you feeling ? I have to put a pessary in my rectal an hour before op. Do you?

Happyclappy22 · 07/09/2025 11:21

How’s it going for everyone else on stims ? Any upcoming appointments ?

YourTipsyDog · 07/09/2025 11:21

@Happyclappy22 last time they gave it to me when I got there so that was a nice surprise (!) that’s good that you had a good excuse to leave without feeling bad.

My triggers were a bit more confusing than I had expected because I stupidly hadn’t watched the video beforehand and got a bit confused because I had to put water in one vial, draw it up and put it into another vial and then change the needle to inject it. It wouldn’t have been an issue if I’d thought about it- I think I’ve become a bit blasé after injecting for 3 weeks!

That’s weird that you said about hunger because I’ve been woken up the last two nights by my husband (he works shifts) and felt ravenous! I was too lazy to go and get food and managed to go back to sleep but I wonder if that’s a side effect.

I’m having a lazy day today to be as rested as possible and trying to drink lots of water. Do you feel bloated at all? I feel a little bloated but nothing major. It will be nice to catch up tomorrow after our collections!

Backtotheicsi · 07/09/2025 14:37

Hey lovely ladies, I’ve been a bit mia this week as have been feeling down since fertilisation results came in, after a great egg collection only 35% fertilised roughly which is way below the average of 50-80%. We then had similar bad luck on day 3 with 50% attrition of our remaining embryos. We were down to 3 (which would be fab if the statistics hadn’t been against us all the way along) so we didn’t hold out much hope today’s transfer would go ahead, nor did the clinic in my opinion. We got the call 2 had made very early blastocyst stage but were borderline to be graded so please do come in as they would watch them between 8-11am. By the time of transfer one had developed in the embryologist's words ‘in leaps and bounds’ and was sitting at a 4BB we could not believe it!!! We didn’t get anything above a 4BC last round even though we had many more embryos and less attrition so finally against all odds the stats swung the other way for us! Not that I’m too phased on grade my little BC beauty is now 7 from last round. They’re watching one other until tomorrow it may make grade but probably won’t for freeze. But we have a chance!!! And since Wednesday id just felt we didn’t have the numbers for the kind of attrition we seem to get with my husbands complex mfi.
this will be our last cycle with my husbands sample, if we have to go again we’re going to do sperm donor, I just can’t take the heartbreak of so many eggs not fertilising after all the money and time etc. we have been very blessed to have still got a chance this round, I know many don’t so we are over the moon!

I’ve been a silent reader the last few days and I am so glad so many of you are well on your way and fingers crossed for the two ladies having collection tomorrow! I took the suppository before, personally I would make sure you’ve planned in a toilet break before (explosive experience) this could just be a me issue but have had this each time around 45 mins later. I popped the loo at clinic before going through, they like you to empty your bladder anyway. But just be aware incase!

YourTipsyDog · 07/09/2025 15:28

@Backtotheicsi I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been disappointed with your numbers but really pleased for you that you have had a transfer today ☺️ let us know how you get on. It’s all so up and down and unpredictable, it’s like nothing else.

I don’t remember having an explosive experience but I do think it made me feel like I needed to go!

Do you (or anyone else) have any knowledge of numbers for grading? Everyone talks about letters but my embryologist used numbers and I don’t know why! I will ask them when we speak to them but thought someone might be able to explain to me in layman’s terms.

Backtotheicsi · 07/09/2025 15:36

I’m not sure if you’re only given numbers, I’ve also heard of people only using letters?

as far as I’m aware in my clinic and previous clinics case the number is the stage of blast and then a letter grade is given to the bit that would become the baby (bunch of cells has a proper name can’t remember it) and a grade to what would be the placental cells. Honestly last pregnancy I spent the whole time stressed because she had ‘poor placental cells’ and it was silly because she was perfectly fine so in that way I don’t think it’s always healthy to find out. It’s also subjective so one clinician might rate slightly different to another but it’s roughly meant to be based on symmetry and shape number of cells as well as if there’s any fragmentation. It’s also worth noting that in just 3 hours mine went from an early blast cc grade to a 4BB so as I see it there’s room for change as they go. If my transfer would have been earlier I would have thought I had a much lower grade transferred.

I think if it’s day 3 I’ve always just been told poor average good or high grade and again based off number of cells (at day 3 I believe should be 6-8) and how they look. Not all clinics ring on day 3 I believe we it’s not super predictive off blastocyst potential anyway.

I don’t think there’s a massive difference in success for any blast, if it’s made blast it’s made blast and has a reasonable chance! That’s just my own research though could be wrong 😂

Backtotheicsi · 07/09/2025 15:38

I’m pretty sure a 5 is a hatching blast from memory, 6 fully hatched, then the others are the stages of expansion towards that

camelinastorm · 07/09/2025 15:54

Could cry my period has come a day early clinic is shut today, I'm supposed to be injection from cd2 Tuesday but have no idea if I should start tomorrow now, will need to call them in the morning, all the dates for collection and transfer have been booked in for everything starting Tuesday.
What cycle day did everyone else start the stims help calm me down 🤣

pastelheart · 07/09/2025 16:34

@camelinastorm it is to stop your LH surge, so stops ovulating. Is that what cetrodide is? Why are there so many different medications, it makes it confusing.

I started my stims on day three, I got my period on the Saturday and then had my scan on the Monday and started that evening so it will be okay. Maybe call first thing in the morning and they might be able to get you in tomorrow?

@YourTipsyDogI hope tomorrow goes well, have my fingers crossed for you. Sorry your triggers were confusing but they are done so that’s good

@Happyclappy22 I must be doing his head in honestly, it’s his birthday today and he’s gone to the shop for me twice in the space of 2 hours lol

good luck with your egg collection, keep us updated!

I am day 7 today! So monitoring scan in the morning yes, it’s first thing so will update. If nothing is happening I will be shook as I am still so bloated and I can’t sneeze or cough without it feeling like my uterus is falling out. So real and actually gone quite fast hasn’t it!

@Backtotheicsisorry about the drop off but excellent news on the 4BB, so pleased for you!

Backtotheicsi · 07/09/2025 16:37

Lots of exciting appointments tomorrow then ladies I will keep my fingers crossed and eyes peeled for the thread 🤞

camelinastorm · 07/09/2025 16:38

@pastelheart yes to stop the surge totally agree why so many different names it's crazy also I don't get why they don't call them the generic names I'll call tomorrow and see if I start injections tomorrow or Tuesday

Klmno · 07/09/2025 21:05

Hope everyone is doing well!
Just catching up on here after a weekend at a wedding
My period came today and I start stims tomorrow. Can't really get my head around the fact it's actually happening.

Sorry to hear you cancelled your cycle @Miraclemuma03 but sounds like a sensible decision. Get well soon!

@AnonTTC I do joke that it's a good lesson in all the patience we will require when we do eventually (hopefully) become parents! I don't know when my FET will be but hopefully before Christmas but I didn't even consider things slowing down over Christmas! I was a wreck last Christmas and didn't really handle it very well so would love to feel more positive this year. But like you say, egg retrieval is a huge hurdle to get over so one step at a time!

@camelinastorm my period came today and they said to start stims tomorrow, I think you can start them day 1-3. So if you phone first thing tomorrow you should be fine?

@Backtotheicsi crossing everything for your little embryo on board! I'm really sorry to hear the attrition was worse than you expected, sounds like such a blow. But as they say it only takes one so I'm glad you managed to have a transfer.

Good luck to those of you with scans/egg collections tomorrow!

Backtotheicsi · 07/09/2025 21:09

@Klmno how exciting! Good luck for the morning! Getting the first one out the way is such a good feeling!

camelinastorm · 07/09/2025 21:14

@Klmno yes I'm going to phone tomorrow don't know if yours is the same but it's full flow in the am my clinic is 2 hours in front so don't know if they will count it as today or tomorrow full flow I was on the pill before and normally start bleeding 3 days after stopping this time it was 2 so annoyed as all is prepped for starting Tuesday, good luck with your injections tomorrow am how they go smoothly

Klmno · 07/09/2025 21:19

@camelinastorm mine was full flow from when I woke up and yeah I think my clinic only counts full flow. Such a pain when our bodies don't do what they normally do at the worst possible times!

@Backtotheicsi thank you! I leave the house at 0645 for a 11.5 hour shift so there won't be much faffing, I'll have to just quickly get it done! But that's probably for the best so that I don't over think it!

OP posts:
pastelheart · 08/09/2025 10:19

Just back from my first monitoring scan and they were really pleased with my response. I have 9 follicles on my left and 8 on my right and all good sizes, my egg collection has been moved forward to this Friday! The bloating and tummy cramps were 100% worth it.

I have another scan first thing Wednesday morning just to check and then will be time to trigger (hopefully)

I did ask if they think fresh transfer will be happening and she wasn’t sure as said it will be borderline for automatic freeze all so we shall see

I hope everyone who is starting stims, has egg collection or just your normal daily injections everything goes okay, looking forward to hearing how it all goes for you all x

YourTipsyDog · 08/09/2025 12:04

That sounds really promising @pastelheart I’m just back from my egg collection, we got 9 eggs so I am tentatively pleased, aware of the attrition rate at each stage but also pleased as it’s nearly twice what I had last time.

pastelheart · 08/09/2025 12:52

@YourTipsyDogamazing news! I am so pleased for you! How are you feeling? X

Klmno · 08/09/2025 13:32

Amazing news @pastelheart! Not long to go then!

And fab result for @YourTipsyDog too. Hope you are resting up!

AnonTTC · 08/09/2025 15:31

@Klmno ha, yes as a silver lining I do think the patience and learning to let go of control have been a god send for what's next!! 🤣 Sounds like we're on such a similar timeline.. I start my stims on Thursday and have been told hopefully end of Nov/early Dec for transfer but obviously there are SO many factors that we're assuming go to plan perfectly so just going to see. Also, don't mean to panic you about things slowing down over Xmas.. it's very much a specific thing for my clinic as they have to close for HFEA reasons over Dec/Jan every year for some sort of deep clean. I'm not sure if it's the same for other clinics but hopefully not for you.

Also I am totally with you in the sense that I didn't enjoy last Christmas whatsoever because I was just starting this journey and it was all consuming. Looking back it's so sad because I love Christmas and it's a shame this process took over, so I'm very much going to try and enjoy it this year no matter what happens x
