@lemons44 How frightening, I hope you’re ok and your back from a&e? Let us know how you’re doing

@confused2025oh no that’s not good. I’d still get something in writing to HR even if you don’t think they’ll do anything just so there’s a paper trail and in case they do something they shouldn’t do like force you out. It’s quite common within an office workplace for them to work you up to the max for you to then feel like you can’t do your job even though they’ve increased your workload

Thank you everyone for your messages! Pleased to say baby is fine.

Today was very stressful. The A&E consultant thought it was a heamaroid but also sent me to maternity to check baby. A student midwife used a Doppler and couldn’t find the heart beat, a midwife came in and on the Doppler she also couldn’t find the heartbeat. They got a doctor who scanned me and we saw that thankfully baby is ok!!
The doctor then examined me and did an internal exam to check the bleeding wasn’t vaginal. She couldn’t see any blood so that was good. I am O- blood and baby is positive blood and the bloods shouldn’t mix so to be safe she gave me an Anti-D injection. It took hours to get the injection as they had to process my blood test first. So we ended up being in hospital from about 11:30am to 8pm!

Exhausted now and going to have a nice relaxed weekend! X

lemons44 · 17/10/2025 21:48

@magpie234 I had a real surge in symptoms when I first entered the second trimester. I felt really exhausted and wondered why I didn’t have the 2nd trimester ‘energy boost’ that everyone talks about! Hang in there because it does get easier. One day soon you will be doing bits and bobs and it will suddenly dawn on you that actually you feel pretty ‘normal’ energy wise! Until then just enjoy the rest and don’t feel guilty for sleeping a lot.

I remember one day I slept in until 11am, had some lunch and then fell back to sleep for a long afternoon nap 🤣 I also remember that I had to plan my day around getting stuff done in the mornings, both in the house and at work, because after lunch I would always be a total zombie.

magpie234 · 17/10/2025 23:02

@lemons44 Gosh what a long and scary day. No wonder you are absolutely floored! That must have been so horrible having two people struggle to find a heartbeat. Bleurgh. So relieved for you that everything is fine. Definitely a restful weekend required now!

Thanks so much for the hopeful words. I am not a patient person by nature but am doing my best to accept things for how they are now and remember that it will not last forever even though it feels like it sometimes. But boy oh boy would I like some semblance of normality back soon! So fingers crossed.

How is everyone going? I feel like am always on here complaining about my symptoms but wanted to ask if anyone has struggled with bad acid reflux and what if anything has helped? Mine has got a lot worse around 11/12 weeks and is really affecting my life and sleep. It feels like my entire digestive system is bathing in acid, so much burning (but in a kind of icy cold way?), bubbling and twisting. I often feel like something is stuck in my throat and have been sicking up acid a lot (sorry) which hurts! It feels like anything I eat just sits there causing pain, making it very tricky to know what to eat/how much/when, especially when I still have no appetite. Going to call my GP tomorrow but any pearls of wisdom most welcome as from what I read this usually only gets worse not better!

confused2025 · 19/10/2025 09:50

@magpie234 yes, I’ve had that A lot. Natural remedy - milk. I know some people take gaviscon but I’m trying to avoid it. I think it’s just part of pregnancy unfortunately x

lemons44 · 19/10/2025 09:56

Thanks @magpie234

I've not had the acid reflux so no words of advice unfortunately. My latest symptom is hip pain 🥴 it was really painful last night.

confused2025 · 19/10/2025 10:01

@lemons44have you tried pregnancy Pilates? I’ve found this good and I think the reason I’ve not had hip/back pain x

Timetotryagain · 19/10/2025 11:06

@magpie234 i have not had avid reflux yet this pregnancy but in my last pregnancy i noticed that things like tomatoey and pepper meals would trigger it so may be a similar food trigger for you?

@lemons44 you can tell we are same gestation as we have same symptoms at same time haha. My hips are aching!

Timetotryagain · 19/10/2025 11:06

@confused2025 do you go to a pilates class or do it at home?

magpie234 · 19/10/2025 11:23

@Timetotryagain Thanks… shall try eliminating tomato-based food as I have had some of that lately actually. Nothing spicy though! Is hard as have found more acidic/sour things easier to stomach for the nausea but I think that has eased off and is now the gas and acid reflux causing most of my issues. So another change of tack is required! Pregnancy eh?

Orangewillow · 19/10/2025 13:06

I've been getting acid reflux too, sometimes really painfully! Fizzy drinks and anything citrusy seems to make it worse, I went to the pub with friends last night and drank a few alcohol free g&ts and it was terrible! I've been taking rennies and gaviscon which help, also a glass of milk. It's not fun. If it's bad, you could get prescribed omeprazole, my GP didn't want to but I've heard of other pregnant women being prescribed it.

I'm also struggling with hip pain, and shoulder pain at night. I've done some yoga and have started seeing physio as all my muscles are so tight and I think that's not helping. Nice to know I'm not alone though! I've been concerned that it's affecting my sleep so much, I'm 23 weeks today so still have a way to go and it's a lot esp when I'm just expecting it to get worse

KayEmmSquared · 19/10/2025 18:46

@Orangewillow @lemons44 my hips have been sore since about week 12 (19 now), I’m naturally very flexible and midwife thinks that’s a factor to the early hip pain, all the relaxin working a little too well, I’m now being monitored for pelvic girdle pain, praying that doesn’t come to anything 🤞🏻

lemons44 · 24/10/2025 15:35

I did a big cough this afternoon and actually pee’d myself a bit! Has anybody else had this?! I thought I was too early (almost 19weeks).

Hope everyone is ok !

SamVan · 24/10/2025 20:25

@lemons44 I did that for a bit after having mild ohss from an ivf cycle. Pretty sure I’ll pee myself at some point as I need to use the toilet all the time and the urge is so strong!! I think it’s normal! My mum used to say to take an extra pair of undies to ultrasounds just in case 😬

lemons44 · 24/10/2025 21:00

@SamVani read that the pelvic floor muscles start to relax so I think it might be that. Very glamorous haha! I might actually try to do some pelvic floor exercises. And yep, I hear you, I’m getting up for the toilet at least 3 times a night! Doesn’t help that I am also so thirsty too

This is making me laugh now because i have had the same this week at same gestation (after having the same bleeding pile as you last week hahaha)

confused2025 · 24/10/2025 23:06

Timetotryagain · 19/10/2025 11:06

@confused2025 do you go to a pilates class or do it at home?

@Timetotryagain sorry I missed this. I go to a weekly class and my instructor is a physio. I have to say I find it really good.

SamVan · 25/10/2025 01:22

@lemons44 oh yes I’ve been meaning to do some pelvic floor exercises too! I think the baby also shifts around and puts pressure on the bladder? Sometimes I get a sudden urge to pee then it goes away. Just wear black in case 😂 I’m peeing three times a night as well. It’s not great for the sleep is it?

Strawberrryfields · 25/10/2025 09:29

Unfortunately yes @lemons44 😂 but it prompted me to start my kegels early so hoping that helps! Did them religiously after my first no cough wees until till this pregnancy

Strawberrryfields · 25/10/2025 09:33

Has everyone had their recommended jabs? Did you get them altogether or space them out a bit? Not sure if it makes any difference. Thought it’s more convenient just to get them at once but then wasn’t sure if there’s any benefit to spacing them out? Did you feel fine afterwards? I’m definitely getting them but get a bit nervous about even taking a paracetamol in pregnancy!

confused2025 · 25/10/2025 09:37

@Strawberrryfields make sure you take the RVC one a little later as there are some cases that say before 28 weeks it can lead to premature birth. I don’t think the Covid one is offered anymore and with the flu one, it’s not the guaranteed strain. I don’t think you should take them all together in case you have a reaction x

Strawberrryfields · 25/10/2025 09:42

Thanks @confused2025 good point hadn’t thought about a reaction. Haven’t had one before but know pregnancy can make you react differently. I’ve been offered flu, covid and whooping cough. Then rsv after 28weeks. x

lemonwrighty · 25/10/2025 09:49

I had my flu and whooping cough done together at 21 weeks on each arm. I was worried about having dead arms from having both done together but surprisingly I was completely fine. My RSV is booked at 30 weeks.

Strawberrryfields · 25/10/2025 09:56

Thanks @lemonwrighty. Were you offered covid?
