Hi - I couldn’t find a thread but just wondered if anyone else was expecting in 2026 post ivf? I’m due end of Feb so just wanting any similar ladies to chat with!

How has everyone found the work situation since letting your employer know? My workload has really increased yet my colleagues have a lot less. Maybe I’m just being super sensitive and overreacting but it just feels like a lot

lemons44 · 15/10/2025 21:56

@confused2025 I’ve been really annoyed this week at work as I am absolutely snowed under and would have thought my managers would have tried to take some off me. I also broached with my manager about coming back part time after Mat leave and it went down like a lead balloon. They said I can do a flexible working request nearer the time, but I’m not hopeful.

TBH I have gone from loving my job to feeling pretty bitter. Previous ladies have all had different treatment… less workload and the ability to go part time. I feel like it’s different for me and not sure if it’s because we are so busy at the moment. I am standing my ground though, making sure I take a lunch break and finish on time (normally I would work late at busy times)

confused2025 · 15/10/2025 22:03

@lemons44 I hear you. I’ve completely lost any joy in it. I just don’t understand why peers are on a mini holiday whilst I’m being swamped and I’m not sleeping so it’s making it so much worse as I’m so tired. How is your sleeping patterns? I guess at least it’s nearly the weekend.

magpie234 · 15/10/2025 23:25

Private scan for me tomorrow. I will be 12 weeks on Friday. Still got a bit of a wait for my NHS screening scan but anxiety has got the better of me as I last went in at 8. Feeling anxious as always 😥

confused2025 · 16/10/2025 07:29

@magpie234 good luck for today x

Honestly I’ve had the worst morning and been in tears at work. Luckily I am home based. It’s an office job but I have been googling and we all should have some protection from stress so I’m going to ask for a H&S risk assessment

good luck @magpie234 x

confused2025 · 16/10/2025 14:17

@lemons44 yes you should do that. Sending you a hug and hope you feel better. I am trying to give big hints that I am at capacity but not sure it will be taken onboard. We need to win the lotto so we can quit 🤣😂🤣

magpie234 · 16/10/2025 14:25

@lemons44 Ugh how rubbish. Def do that as nothing is more important than your health and especially at the moment.

Thanks for all the luck guys. It went well. She also said the nuchal translucency looks normal so I feel a little less anxious for my NHS scan next Friday now - although obv still awaiting the blood test results. I am still in disbelief that all that is going on inside me but hey ho! Beyond thankful of course. Seeing them kicking about on the screen does def help make all the horrible symptoms feel a bit less pointless and miserable (though also can I not feel rough now?!) .

lemonwrighty · 16/10/2025 14:30

@confused2025 that’s not good with work. They should carry out a risk assessment on you ASAP knowing your pregnant. Mine did this straight away, I’m also office based but I do a lot of travelling and my travel and workload reduced almost instantly. My husband works in HR so it helps I can get his advice if work aren’t being great but they have been so far and he’s got no reason to complain on my behalf.

Put a word in to your manager/ HR department, have a meeting with them and express your concerns then follow it up with an email so you’ve got it in writing

KayEmmSquared · 16/10/2025 15:03

I told my boss and his boss I was pregnant the day after my Official Test Day scan so I was protected straight away. Pregnancy is a protected characteristic so they need to take extra precautions. I tried to tell my boss a few times that he was overloading me and it was causing me stress but he didn’t listen so I went over his head it was dealt with immediately. His boss was very much “we should not be stressing you at this time, I will sort this by tomorrow” and it was sorted, my boss might not be best pleased but he can’t show it or risk repercussions. You and baby are the most important things at the moment, do what you need to to keep your sanity and stay stress free.

@magpie234 glad to hear everything went well with your scan ❤️

confused2025 · 16/10/2025 16:25

@KayEmmSquared you’re right. I had a gentle conversation today so will see how it goes

confused2025 · 16/10/2025 16:25

@magpie234glad it went well ❤️

confused2025 · 16/10/2025 16:27

@lemonwrightythis is the function I work in lol and I don’t think they’ll do anything. I think they just want me to do as much as I can before mat leave x

lemons44 · 16/10/2025 19:53

Thanks @confused2025 honestly was an awful day today. Going to be way more firmer now about my stress levels even if I have to go off sick. @lemonwrightythe issue was it was my manager who was the one giving me stress today. She knows I’m pregnant and I have told her I’m stressed and struggling with my workload. I’m now feeling a bit scared to be honest in case I have done any damage to baby by feeling stressed today 😢😢

lemons44 · 16/10/2025 19:54

@magpie234 that’s great news that it went well

Timetotryagain · 16/10/2025 22:55

@lemons44 i too have worried about stress in the past and how it affects pregnancy but honestly i think the stress they refer to that could harm baby would be catastrophic chronic stress not short burst of work related stress etc! I remember reading about people who had lost one of their parents and their jobs in pregnancy and baby was absolutely fine even with all that stress!

Regardless they still should be doing what they can to minimise work stress for you :(

i had similar push back btw when bringing up flexible working but it got approved after i returned from maternity leave so try not to worry about that either. They have to consider flexible working requests and have to have a really good business reason when turning it down!

@magpie234 thats a relief for you 💕💕

Having a scary morning this morning. Had a bowel movement and had LOADS of blood out the back passage. Including clots. Put a finger in the front and then a tampon to double check it’s not coming from the front and it’s deffo the back. Rang 111 and they said they don’t think it’s related to the pregnancy and they got my GP to call me. GP wants me to get baby checked to be sure so told me to go A&E so I’m there now waiting. I’m hoping it’s just something like heamaroids or piles or something but it’s been a bit scary as it was really quite a lot

Omg i could have written this too!!!!! Not with clots thankfully but Triage said it was a pile but gave me the fright of my life too 💕

Hope all is okay with you!

confused2025 · 17/10/2025 12:00

@lemons44oh no but does sound like hemaroids and my doc said very common in pregnancy. I was in hospital with bleeding from back passage as well. Go and get checked. It was a comfort to hear the heart beat. I think this is very common. If it was vaginal it would be a bigger worry x

magpie234 · 17/10/2025 13:09

@lemons44 Oh poor thing! Good to get the baby checked but hard to see how it would be related if thankfully no bleeding from the front. But it sounds scary and horrible for you regardless and I hope it gets sorted soon! Sorry you experienced it also @Timetotryagain and @confused2025!

I have been in bed all day so far with the most extreme fatigue yet (12 weeks today). I do feel mentally boosted by seeing the baby yesterday but also… I am literally just an incubator at this point 😩. Good for absolutely nothing else. Too tired to watch tv even! The sonographer said my placenta will have taken over but I thought when that happened you were supposed to get some energy back not the other way around?!
