Private scan this afternoon and my partner is sick in bed with a bug 😟😟 honestly could not write this. Nervous to go on my own but already paid half for deposit and don’t want to loose the money when they are quite expensive. Not sure if I take my mum but if not the news we want feel all sorts of emotions putting her through that 😭

Timetotryagain · 22/08/2025 09:17

@Hopeloveandkindness could you call to ask them if you can rearrange to Monday given the circumstances? I am sure they would rather do that than risk someone coming in ill because they couldnt rearrange

Thanks everyone for all your aspirin experiences, i will ask at booking appointment tomorrow (at 10 weeks which is apparently quite late for booking appointment as they like certain bloods to be done before 10 weeks ideally according to nhs website

confused2025 · 22/08/2025 10:23

@Strawberrryfieldsyes, my only factor was being 40.

Hopeloveandkindness · 22/08/2025 10:30

I’ve been booked in for another appointment at the hospital 2 weeks after my scan but nothing on the letter to advise what this about. Has anyone else had this? Just says obstetrics clinic?

Thank you. Read a little about it yesterday and seems like it has got more common to prescribe as there’s lots of potential benefits and very little risk. Good to know about 🙂

KayEmmSquared · 22/08/2025 18:22

@Timetotryagain my booking app is Monday at 10+5, is this classed as quite late? My scan isn’t until I’m 12+5 so I’m going to ask for it to be brought forward at my booking app 🤞🏻

Timetotryagain · 22/08/2025 18:44

@KayEmmSquaredi think they ideally want to do it beforr 10 weeks so that if any of the screening bloods show issues i.e sickle cell, then they can start monitoring earlier/ treatment

i dont even have my scan date yet! Apparently at my booking appointment the midwife will book it in but seens pretty late given i am 12 weeks in 2 weeks!

Whowhatwhere21 · 23/08/2025 10:47

Im due march 25!
Just curious of other people's experience who have had their booking in appointment with the midwife. Did they calculate your due date based off your ivf transfer date and embryo age? Mine would be march 25th based off this but the midwife was completely cocking up and trying to calculate based off last period which isnt accurate as I had down reg for a while for an fet.
My transfer was 7th july, she first gave me a due date of 6th of November and it took me 3 times telling her thats impossible before she accepted she'd made a mistake, then it was the start of January, again wrong, now shes dated me start of April, also wrong.

confused2025 · 23/08/2025 10:49

@Whowhatwhere21hace you had your scan yet? My trust base it of embryo transfer day x

Yes i had a scan at 7 weeks 2 days with the ivf clinic. They gave me a form which dated me at 7 weeks 2 days based on transfer day and scan. I gave this to the midwife as instructed, using that form she got the November and january due dates somehow. When she realised she was getting it wrong she gave me the form back and used her little spinny date wheel to calculate instead. She asked when my last period was so she could calculate with the wheel and I told it wouldn't be accurate as I had to down reg for a few weeks, then more weeks on meds before transferring. She ignored me and gave me a due date thats 2 weeks late. I wouldn't mind so much but it means my scan is now 2 weeks late, im high risk due to previous existing conditions and also developing hypertension since pregnancy so my specialist appointment is late, being allowed to start meds for risk of pre eclampsia will also be late.

confused2025 · 23/08/2025 11:07

@Whowhatwhere21 are you consultant led? Do you have an appointment with them soon? Maybe you can call up and ask to move it sooner and explain? X

Timetotryagain · 23/08/2025 11:11

@Whowhatwhere21 could you call them and (pretend to be a bit confused) and say oh i got my period wrong and give them a fake date of your period for 2 weeks 5 days before your embryo transfer??

Whowhatwhere21 · 23/08/2025 11:16

All i know is Im shared care with midwife, GP and obstetrician. Midwife said ill need to see a specialist by 11 weeks due to previous conditions and hypertension and my scan will need to be by 11 weeks. I can start meds for pre eclampsia risk at 12 weeks.
My scan and specialist appointment have come through, i will be 13 and a half weeks by then based off transfer date. If i start the meds on the date the midwife gave me, ill be 14 weeks instead of 12.
I dont even know who to call as I dont have a number for anyone. I've only got the number for my midwife but shes on holiday, The midwife that booked me in was just covering for my assigned one.
She told me if I disagree with the due date then I'll have to wait and tell them that at my scan

I dont actually know who to call. The midwife that booked me in had the dates written in front of her from the ivf clinic and still chose to ignore them, then told me to take it up with whoever does my scan if I disagree with the due date, by which point ill be weeks late for everything

worldwidetravel2017 · 23/08/2025 11:53

My trust base it on fet date -,
I also did down reg etc

Bkd a private scan 4 next wkend.as need to know baby is ok before stopping lubion at 12 weeks

confused2025 · 23/08/2025 12:04

@Whowhatwhere21 I got a list of numbers and a big folder of info at my booking appt. I think if you call your maternity hospital and ask for the antenatal clinic you could speak with them and let them know your concern?

Whowhatwhere21 · 23/08/2025 12:32

It seems the replies so far are saying their due date has been based off transfer, i cant understand why my midwife hasn't done the same.

@confused2025 I got nothing at my booking in appointment! No folder, info, just a load of blood forms. Our trust does everything online now so I've been given a log in to an app and was told everything I need would be in the app. The only thing in the app is the nunber for the midwife on holiday. According to the midwife the only thing open at the hospital 24/7 is labour/delivery. Antenatal, EPU and any other department are closed on weekends and after 12pm weekdays. Ill have to see if I can find a number for the antenatal clinic and give then a call next week.

Thank you for the replies everyone. At least i know I'm not going crackers expecting my transfer date to be used!

Strawberrryfields · 23/08/2025 13:43

@Whowhatwhere21 you're 100% right. This is my second ivf pregnancy and I found there was a mix of knowledge about ivf pregnancies from the midwives. One of mine was trying to use my collection date to calculate the due date for my frozen transfer months later! Definitely go by your fet date. At my dating scan last time they told me a different date due to measurements but even they said to ignore it as I know my exact dates for certain.

Ring them first thing on Monday you’ve got time to sort it out (it’s just annoying that you’ve got to 🙄)

Timetotryagain · 23/08/2025 14:45

@Whowhatwhere21 definitely that seems so strange that they have done that with the dates. Hope it gets sorted

@worldwidetravel2017 hopefully the scan goes well ❤

@confused2025 Had booking appointment and i will be on aspirin too from 12 weeks apparently (because my previous pregnancy my baby was born small so apparently they ask women to take aspirin now due to it)

Orangewillow · 23/08/2025 16:07

@Whowhatwhere21 I also had mine dated from transfer day, based on it being a 5 day embryo. My clinic gave me a due date based on this and my midwife/sonographer took that and agreed with it in principle and then it was also backed up by scan measurements. As you say, makes no sense going off period dates when it's not a normal cycle! Sounds like the person you've spoken to was very unhelpful, and it's not great it's so hard to get in touch with anyone else but definitely persevere, good luck!

lemons44 · 23/08/2025 18:39

I have my booking appointment tomorrow (the midwife is coming to my house… is that weird?!) so I will find out if they accept my FET transfer date or try and go by my last period.

My 12 weeks nuchal dating scan is actually when I will be 13 weeks, but I think it’s supposed to be between 12 and 14? Does anyone know if it has to be week 12?

lemons44 · 23/08/2025 18:40

I was also told the bloods had to be completed before 9+6. I wonder if this is more a case of NHS wanting to flag anything like STDs early etc, whereas as we have all been through IVF we have already been extensively screened.

SamVan · 23/08/2025 19:26

Hello all! I just had my scan yesterday and they saw a heartbeat at 6w2d! I still have 0 symptoms but I guess you’re all right and symptoms don’t mean anything 🤷🏻‍♀️ hoping I can relax a bit now.
