Hi - I couldn’t find a thread but just wondered if anyone else was expecting in 2026 post ivf? I’m due end of Feb so just wanting any similar ladies to chat with!

@Orangewillow oh I’m so pleased everything they were able to see you so soon and baby was ok. It’s so scary when you wake up to bleeding.
I had this a few weeks ago, I had to wait 5 hours from the moment I contacted my epu to when I had my scan but luckily baby was fine and I’ve had some bleeding on and off but it’s brown blood, midwife says it’s old blood and I’ve since been for my 12 week scan, baby decided it wanted to have a nap and be upside down so I had to walk up 9 flights of stairs and back down to get baby moving so they could take measurements, luckily it woke up.

What did they say about your subchorionic haematoma? Have you got to bleed it out or take any medication for it?

Yes I feel the same with the other extra security of cyclogest, I’ve not had any issues with it, I know of a few people who really didn’t get on with it, are you able to request anymore from the clinic or your doctor?

Orangewillow · 15/08/2025 18:25

Thanks @lemonwrighty yeah so scary to have bleeding isn't it! My first haematoma was mainly brown and not heavy so this felt different and scarier, bur at least I know why its happening and things are fine. They said it is fairly small, non worrying, and nothing to be done, just wait for it to see itself out!

I'm pretty keen to get off the meds so as scary as it feels, I'm going to try and trust my clinic and go with their recommendation and not get any more meds - aside from anything else I really can't be bothered to chase up a prescription and have to go there to pick it up! Maybe I'll feel differently next week haha

OrangeBlossom91 · 15/08/2025 19:54

I had my 7 week scan and was told to stop progesterone but asked to carry it on until 12 weeks. I think after that time your placenta is making progesterone? Have you read that it’s good to keep taking it longer?

Hi all,
Took a bit of time away due to struggling so much with anxiety, but back now and catching up. We had our second clinic scan today at 8+4, which went ok. I’m measuring 8+2 but they said 7 days over or under is normal so I’m trying not to worry! My last two scans I measured one day under too.

I’ve now been discharged from the clinic and have my plan to wean off the meds. I’ve been told:

  1. to stop lubion (progesterone) and blood thinners at 10 weeks.
  2. to start tapering off my steroids from 10 weeks.
  3. to start tapering off progynova (eostrogen) and cyclogest (progesterone) from 12 weeks. Cyclogest I will drop from twice a day to once a day until 14 weeks.

The clinic also informed me about the NIPT test which I didn’t really understand what it was until I looked it up. They said it can be done from 10 weeks. We didn’t PGTA test our embryos so thought we might do it for (hopefully!!!!) peace of mind. Is anybody else considering this? It can also tell you the sex which I didn’t know was possible so early.

hope everyone else is doing ok xx

I was thinking of having the nipt test private I’m 10 weeks now, but I think I will have the screening first at 12. It’s confusing what to do. I know the NIPT is more accurate and my embryos also not tested.

my clinic have said to stop taking progynova (eostrogen) and cyclogest (progesterone) from 12 weeks but I honestly don’t feel comfortable about stopping all together and might speak to my GP about tapering them down like what you have said go from 2 to 1 a day as just feels funny just stopping all together

lemonwrighty · 15/08/2025 21:02

@OrangeBlossom91 it’s meant to help potential prevent miscarriage which is why I feel reliant on them. It’s not bad to take them for longer which is why I’m thinking go another 4 weeks on them to take me up to 18 weeks

Hi all! I’m really early at 5w2d. Waiting for my first scan atm. It’s an agonizing wait 😫 very excited to be here after 5 transfers - this was my 6th. Just taking each day as it comes now and trying not to panic that it’s stopped working.

Edited

congratulations ☺️ It is an anxious wait but you’ve already passed a big milestone in getting your positive (yay! ❤️) and you’re right to try to just take each day as it comes. You’ve done all you can for now.
Best of luck when your scan comes and hope you can let yourself feel some joy for this time you’ve worked so hard for. X

PlanBFertility · 15/08/2025 22:20

My clinic sent me this -
Cyclogest (Progesterone) 400mg twice daily until the end of your 11th week of pregnancy. From week 11 to 12, reduce the dose to 400mg once daily, and then from week 12 to 13, take it every other day, after which you can stop entirely.

Just to say my one was also embryo number 6! Fingers crossed it is our lucky number 🤞🏼 x

Oh that’s great I think I’ll do that too, seems better than coming off suddenly.

how many weeks are you?

Orangewillow · 16/08/2025 08:12

Really interesting to see different clinics approach to stopping the IVF drugs! My understanding was the placenta starts to take over at 10-12 weeks so by around 14 weeks it's doing its thing and you don't need the drugs any more, but I am not a doctor so can't say that with total certainty!

On NIPT tests, I did this privately in my 1st pregnancy at around 10 weeks. I asked for it this time round at my NHS dating/nuchal scan, they did the combined test then (scan and blood test to give you a probability factor of the three trisomies) and as mine came back low, they said they wouldn't offer me the NIPT which gives a more accurate result. I didn't push it as we did pgta test embryos, but otherwise I would have gotten this. Unfortunately for us in our 1st pregnancy it did reveal we had a problem that led to a TFMR and as awful as this was, it was better to know sooner

lemonwrighty · 16/08/2025 09:30

I think I might request another 2 weeks worth but start taking them once a day for 2 weeks then every other day until I run out, this should then take me nearly to 16/17 weeks. I’m nhs funded ivf so although my clinic are great, I was only prescribed cyclogest until I got to 10 weeks and then nothing else after that, I didn’t feel ready to come off so requested another 4 weeks through my GP.

I did the NIPT test during my 12 week appointment, I wanted it done as we didn’t pgta test the embryos, waiting on results currently.

Timetotryagain · 16/08/2025 13:25

In my first pregnancy i took cyclogest until 16 weeks, they have prescribed me until 12 but after that i will be asking GP to prescribe until 16 (as i have had previous miscarriages)

lemons44 · 16/08/2025 13:28

How does the progesterone help with the pregnancy? Is it keeping the lining thick?

Thanks for the messages about NIPT. I have decided I will definitely book it.

worldwidetravel2017 · 16/08/2025 19:15

NiCe guidelines state progesterone til 16 wks in some circumstances
So my consultant agreed crinome gel til 16 wks

Lubion im off @ just over 12 wks

Placenta fully takes over @ 16 wks my consultant says

lemonwrighty · 16/08/2025 19:46

@lemons44 it prepares the uterus lining for implantation but we’re obviously past that stage, it’s also meant to help prevent potential miscarriages and support the development of the embryo. I’m conflicted on what to do now but I’ve requested another 4 weeks so if it’s prescribed, I think I’ll continue twice a day for 3 weeks to take me up to 16 weeks then reduce to once a day for a few more weeks after and then every other day until I run out. This should then take me to about 19 weeks. I’ve got a midwife appointment at 16 weeks so I’ll see what she says.

SamVan · 16/08/2025 20:28

@Strawberrryfields and @lemons44 thank you 🥰 unfortunately everyday is a new panic at the moment. Yesterday I jumped violently 5 times forgetting I was pregnant and then felt so guilty and angry with myself and worried I’ve caused a miscarriage. I feel like my symptoms have gone now but maybe that’s normal.

@lemons44 lucky number 6 for us both I hope!! sounds like we have a very similar protocol. I’m also on intralipids and steroids. Congrats on your scans it must feel surreal after so many transfers. I definitely feel like I’m imagining it most of the time.

lemons44 · 16/08/2025 22:20

@SamVan try not to worry too much about the symptoms. On an average week I have a few days where I have symptoms and a few days where I have zero symptoms. It scared me at first too but it is obviously normal for them to come and go. I know how worrying everything is. Every week I have had a separate worry. First was I was worried because my dog jumped on my tummy, then the week after I was worried as I’d strained whilst on the toilet, then last week I was so stressed as I had a coughing fit and I worried I’d hurt the baby. Its so hard not worry about every little thing but from everything I’ve read it is really protected in there.

confused2025 · 17/08/2025 07:17

Hope everyone is doing ok and hanging on in there. Just wondering if anyone knows of a pregnancy safe nail varnish? I’m going on holidays soon and I would love a mani and pedi but little bean is telling me all the brands I’ve scanned are a moderate risk x

Timetotryagain · 17/08/2025 17:11

@confused2025 not sure sorry! Can you do those wrap around ones that are supposed to be quite good (basically stick on but better)

lemons44 · 17/08/2025 21:35

Did anybody’s else hormones ramp up towards week 9. I’ve cried so much today. Then picked a big argument with DH saying he wasn’t helping enough with the dog walks. Then cried some more in case the stress from arguing with him impacted the baby 😭😭

confused2025 · 18/08/2025 09:17

Thanks @Timetotryagain that’s a good idea. @lemons44its very normal. I’m particularly irritated by one work colleague and some times my OH. Also I find myself randomly crying at the news and random Facebook posts. Your hormones are all over the place right now so your OH needs to accept this and just deal with it x

Hopeloveandkindness · 19/08/2025 06:13

My nausea has really ramped up this morning. I’m 10 weeks 2 days and feel this is the worst I’ve felt. It has been really manageable throughout so far. I also feel so dizzy when getting out of bed and feel like I have to just lie down. Has anyone experienced this? Im
not sure if it’s pregnancy related or if I’m poorly almost feels like vertigo. Slightly worried 😟

confused2025 · 19/08/2025 06:20

@Hopeloveandkindnessit could be just pregnancy, or low blood pressure or glucose levels. I sometimes get a feeling of being very hot and need to lie down asap. I just bought a blood pressure monitor online for £20. It might be good to get one of these and to maybe see if you can get in with your GP just to make sure. Hope you’re ok x
