Hi - I couldn’t find a thread but just wondered if anyone else was expecting in 2026 post ivf? I’m due end of Feb so just wanting any similar ladies to chat with!

It seems to vary place to place, but I had my booking in appt and 12 week scan booked in pretty quickly after I self referred to the antenatal services, which i did at around 5/6 weeks

Strawberrryfields · 10/08/2025 12:17

Has anyone else experienced pregnancy imposter syndrome? Not sure how else to describe it. I’m 7 weeks and just doesn’t feel quite real. I’ve had a scan and so far so good 🤞I’ve had a bit of morning sickness which has made me ‘feel’ more pregnant but I guess I’m just having a bit of a wobble? I was with a visibly pregnant friend on Friday and it made me feel almost like I’m pretending or something?! Maybe sounds strange but anyone else feel a bit like this early on?

We’re very lucky to have one child already through ivf and I vaguely remember feeling like this last time but feels like it’s getting to me more and not sure why. Have had losses in between so maybe some anxiety around that too?

thanks for reading hope everyone’s having a nice relaxing Sunday 🙂

confused2025 · 10/08/2025 12:25

@Strawberrryfields congratulations 🥰. I’m 13 weeks today and my symptoms kinda ramped up around 8-9 weeks but everyone is different and sometimes folks don’t have any and have really healthy pregnancies. I had my 12 week scan on Friday and it’s only now that it’s starting to feel a little more real but I don’t think I will relax properly until the 19 week scan. IVF makes you think the worst will happen and you can’t relax. Do you have your NHS scans booked in yet?

Strawberrryfields · 10/08/2025 12:46

Thank you @confused2025 ☺️ Glad your scan went well!
I’ve got an early nhs one in a couple of weeks so hopefully that’ll help things keep sinking in more. I think it probably is my losses which are increasing this feeling as like you say it’s hard to feel that something won’t go wrong. Yes I think reaching that half way point is a huge milestone and will feel movement then etc. just feels a million miles away right now.

PlanBFertility · 10/08/2025 13:05

@Strawberrryfields 100% feel the same 🤗

Strawberrryfields · 10/08/2025 13:35

Thanks @PlanBFertility good to not feel alone in this! I’m absolutely over the moon but just doesn’t feel real at times. Looking forward to things hopefully sinking in more in the next few weeks 🤞🤗

Timetotryagain · 10/08/2025 16:41

@confused2025 @Orangewillow @PlanBFertility seems every area does it different! I self referred at 5 weeks and then got the booking appointment through for 10 weeks and then i guess ths scan will be booked after that!

I am 8 weeks and omg the symptoms have really ramped up (i remember week 8 and 9 being the worst with my last pregnancy) so got to power through tje next 2 weeks haha.

@Strawberrryfields welcome to the group, glad the first scan went well :) yeah i remember feeling less worried when i could feel the baby move last time as every day you had a little resurrance in the form of a tiny kick :)

@confused2025 did you nausea improve on week 10 then?

Orangewillow · 10/08/2025 17:05

I think my nausea was worst in weeks 8-10, but was feeling fairly rough from 6.5 weeks on. I'm 13 weeks today and this past week has definitely been better, which has very neatly coincided with being on holiday so I am grateful for that! Still up and down but feels like the end is in sight

confused2025 · 10/08/2025 19:33

@Timetotryagainyeah it’s gotten better. Certain smells like the bin or my prenatal make me feel really ill (I blend prenatal to stop getting sick and I’m ok with my other supplements). My main issue at the moment is waking up in the middle of the night so v tired.

Timetotryagain · 13/08/2025 08:25

Morning everyone :) thinking of booking private scan for about 9.5 weeks (my clinic one was at 7+2.

So silly that i have woke up not as sick as was able to hang a load of washing up and i am wanting my sickness back when i shoild just enjoy the brief moment of relief haha!

confused2025 · 13/08/2025 08:27

@Timetotryagain when is your NHS scan? I think if it brings you peace of mind, you should do it and I’m sure everything is ok x

Timetotryagain · 13/08/2025 09:14

@confused2025 i have no idea when my nhs scan is i havent got anything come through yet. I have my booking appointment next week so maybe they will tell me then?

confused2025 · 13/08/2025 09:19

@Timetotryagain if you can wait until you have this as you might have a scan during booking appointment or they may get you in relatively quickly. I found the booking appointment very good at explaining all the appointments and dates. Also, they explained that if I am anxious I can attend the early pregnancy unit at any stage and they’ll check for me x

Timetotryagain · 13/08/2025 09:40

@confused2025 thats true! Its only a week away so will see what they say!

Hate the limbo period before you have seen any midwifes. How are you feeling now?

Strawberrryfields · 13/08/2025 09:52

@Timetotryagain your nhs scan will usually be between 11-14 weeks. The process might differ depending on which nhs trust you’re under but previously I’ve had the booking in appointment (lots of questions plus urine, bloods, blood pressure, height & weight) and from that the midwife has made the referral to the hospital for the 12 week/ dating scan. I then got a letter in the post with my scan date.

If you feel anxious and you feel it will put your mind at ease then it wouldn’t hurt to get another scan as you could still have a few more weeks before a scheduled one. My local epu will only see you with a referral from your GP or from another hospital department e.g. gynae or a&e. And that would be if you’d had a possible issue like spotting etc. Again could be different rules at your local hospital but wanted to share if it might help.

Totally agree this limbo bit is so hard. Hoping for the best but no real clue what’s going on!

confused2025 · 13/08/2025 09:55

@Timetotryagain I’m doing good. It was nice to get the 12 week scan out of the way. Morning sickness is a lot better but I’m just not sleeping well as I’m waking up to go to the toilet around 2:30 or 3am and then just not able to get back to sleep and also feeling uncomfortable. I just ordered one of those pregnancy pillows so I’m hoping it will make me more comfortable but wondering if I ordered too early. Also I need to buy more comfortable clothes lol

KayEmmSquared · 13/08/2025 11:43

I’m 9 weeks today and for the last 2 days I’ve not had many symptoms, my nausea has decreased loads and my sore boobs are not so bad either, I’m trying to tell myself I’m just getting used to it and not to worry but the wait for the next scan is killing me! I’d love to book a scan for maybe next week but I also don’t want to incase it’s bad news and my ‘being pregnant’ bubble is burst! I have my midwife app at 10+5 and my scan at 12+5 so trying to making it to these milestones without another scan.

worldwidetravel2017 · 13/08/2025 12:08

They didnt scan me @ my midwife booking appt

This is exactly how I feel. DH is so excited and I feel kinda numb. I think I built such a high wall during treatment it will take a while to take it down and believe this is real!

Completely understand. My partner is similar! I’ve gone back and forth this week since I wrote this on Sunday, it’s honestly a rollercoaster. But you’re right all those fears and doubts aren’t going to fade overnight. I’m sure we’ll get there and in the meantime our other half’s can be excited enough for two!

I’m sure we will get there. I keep thinking the next milestone I’ll relax but realistically prob not until 12 weeks or movements start!

part of me wants to shout it from the rooftops and tell our nearest & dearest and the other part wants to keep it a secret forever and feels so wrong to say it like it’s not really happening! 🥲

SamVan · 15/08/2025 10:17

Hi all! I’m really early at 5w2d. Waiting for my first scan atm. It’s an agonizing wait 😫 very excited to be here after 5 transfers - this was my 6th. Just taking each day as it comes now and trying not to panic that it’s stopped working.

lemonwrighty · 15/08/2025 15:49

Is there anyone on here who is 14+ weeks on or not on progesterone? If you’re still on it, how long are you planning on staying on it?
I’m currently 13 weeks and on cyclogest until 14 weeks, I actually requested another 4 weeks worth 3 weeks ago from my GP.
I’m thinking about requesting another 4 weeks to take me up to 18 weeks then I hope to ween myself off but I feel like progesterone is my safety blanket especially at the beginning of the pregnancy so I can’t quite let go yet.
interested to hear everyone else’s thoughts?

Orangewillow · 15/08/2025 16:01

@lemonwrighty I'm 13+5 and coming off progesterone this weekend at 14 weeks. My clinic said fine to stop everything (I'm on prontogest and cyclogest), I'd planned to continue cyclogest a little longer but have managed to lose a box somewhere and don't have enough! I'm sure it's fine to stop but I liked the idea of extra security, my clinic is pretty cautious (and I'm paying for it!) so I do think it's likely fine

Had such a scare today, woke up bleeding red in the middle of the night while I was away from home, local hospital wouldn't see me at their EPU as I'm not local so drove 3 hours home for a scan - luckily they saw me urgently as I'm negative blood type and need a shot for any bleeding post 12 weeks - and baby fine, I've got another subchorionic haematoma that's bleeding out, and scared the life out of me!
