Hi All!

I might be early to it here, but thought I'd start a threat for anyone who knows they'll be going through it in June this year!

I'm based near Sheffield, and will be going through the treatment in sheffield. I'm 36, will turn 37 during the treatment. We've been through one failed round last August, so we've spent the time since getting further private checks done, and now we're ready for the next round. We came back as 'normal' on the nhs tests, but we found other things with these private tests! We've had all of our follow ups, catch up consultation appointments. Next appointment is our nurse appointment on the 5th May, then after that it's waiting for my next cycle to start at the very end of May / beginning of June.

From the further tests we've had done, I'm now on thyroid medication to bring my thyroid down to fertility recommended levels, my partner had DNA Frag & Oxidative Stress tests done and we've made improvements based on the results of these. I've also been having some acupuncture, which I've also feel has helped my sanity!

Please share your stories and hopefully we can all support each other during this. I'm much more nervous this time, even though I know we're better set up than we were last time.

@YellowTack fingers and toes crossed for your little embryo, will be rooting for you x

CloudyIvy55 · 09/06/2025 09:49

Period one day late, sore boobs and I threw up last night. Of course I convinced myself it was miracle and I was pregnant at the last second before starting IVF. Woke up this morning, did a pregnancy test. It all felt quite nostalgic, as I gave up on pregnancy tests a long time ago! Huge negative! Guess I just wanted to throw myself up and down that emotional roller coaster one last time 🤦‍♀️😂

RainbowFluff · 09/06/2025 12:02

I have my first scan of my monitoring cycle this week and I’m convinced they will want to do something about my fibroid. Has anybody else had one treated? It’s in the uterine wall so can’t be surgically removed but I’ve heard medication can shrink them, I’ve avoided long protocol so far as I really didn’t like the sound of down regulation and I’m worried this is what they’ll want to do!

FluentTealGuide · 09/06/2025 13:07

@YellowTack fingers crossed for you too!

@CloudyIvy55 Symptom spotting at its finest, isn't it!

HelloPippa0 · 09/06/2025 13:15

@CloudyIvy55 it’s impossible not to do this, even after so long! Esp if you threw up. I’d have probably done 5 tests 😂 It felt very strange to do a pregnancy test yday the night we started stims (clinic required me to do this even though period had started) and to not mind so much that it was negative.

Can’t remember if this is your first round but if so - I iced the area like @Gosia19 and didn’t feel a thing which was a pleasant surprise! Had to get my partner to do it though.

@YellowTack hoping and praying for your embryo to stay strong 💪

I got an update from my clinic today, only one of the 3 follicles has fertilised, I guess that was to be expected.
I know will pray that this one embryo will make it to day 5!

it only takes one!! Sending all the positive vibes your way Xx

KittyIIV · 09/06/2025 13:59

@cakeislife1234@Hopeandfaith1990@GLizzie88@YellowTack @Gosia19 thank you so much! Read these in the waiting room and put a big smile on my face!

So out of allll those 31 follicles we got 12 eggs. Dr said that some of the larger ones didn’t release or did not have eggs as they were expecting. I am so relieved it’s over and we managed to get 12. Now just waiting for the call tomorrow to see how many have fertilised. The waiting in this whole experience is killer!!! Keeping our fingers crossed.

This means we should be ok to go for our transfer on Saturday 🤞 all being ok with my recovery & if we have embryos. Xxxx

Hello @Gosia19@KittyIIVsorry for the late responses. Don’t know why I chose to start IVF at such a busy work time 😅 I’m going in for scans and bloods this morning to hopefully confirm egg collection is on Wednesday! If yes I’ll trigger tonight. Sounds like you are both well on your way, amazing news. Sending you both so many good vibes for it. Xxxx

those who have been through egg collection, please can you reassure me that it isn’t that scary? Sorry if I sound wimpish. I’ve been through two MVAs/hycosy/HSG/ectopic surgery before so I’ve a fairly good pain threshold I think. But for some reason I’m nervous about the EC.

hope everyone is ok xxxx

Honestly do not worry, it is basically just the same as the scans but with medication. I slept the whole way through and when I came round proceeded to tell them all I had a dream we all had a BBQ and the anaesthetist made fish tacos! I knew I would say something silly! 😂

You will be absolutely fine. Not sure if your clinic told you to bring slippers/dressing gown to go over your gown. Feel absolutely fine now just having a duvet day.

xxx

Exact same thing happened to me... and my periods are usually like clockwork. So typical!

At least now you know and have a plan for the next steps. You got this! x

Thank you that’s so reassuring. I’m so glad it went so well for you ❤️❤️❤️ hope you can have a lovely rest and relaxing afternoon/few days. I’ve taken the day of and the day after off work to recover, hopefully that’ll be enough.

so funny about the fish tacos - I bet that’ll be in my head after I drift off now 😂😂

Rayofsunshine22 · 09/06/2025 14:40

@Gosia19 oh thank you so much this is so helpful.
Really appreciate it. A nurse from the clinic is calling me today so I will ask all my questions & hope things seem a little clearer. It just seems odd for what we pay & the amount there is so actually do I'm shocked to learn that they just leave you with such limited info to get on & do it yourself. I presumed it would be really detailed instructions/videos and then they would physically show me as well. I've never injected anything before.

Good luck everyone else especially for EC day 🙏🏻

Thank you so much! Such a weird feeling it being over, after what felt like forever. Not long for you now 😘

I have no clue where the fish tacos came from, I don't even like fish tacos 😂must have been me being obsessed with trying to up my fish intake the last two weeks! Xx

And also... have never made fish tacos on a BBQ 😂

Gosia19 · 09/06/2025 16:32

Congrats @KittyIIV on your 12 eggs! The fish taco dream really made me laugh. 😂 Hope you have a chilled out evening.

@Rayofsunshine22 No problem! I think the clinics get a bit nonchalant about it as this is their everyday, I think you will feel loads better after your first one. Then even if you have to do different injections, it’s less daunting as the general process is the same. My husband kept reminding me that if it was dangerous or there was lots of room for error then they would not let you do it at home. Is the first one this evening? Good luck and let us know how it goes, thinking of you!

Welcome to the gang @SharpBlueLemur! Sounds like you’re all ready to go and wishing you all the best for the process. ☺️

YellowTack · 09/06/2025 19:08

@KittyIIV congrats on your EC and your 12 eggs.

@SharpBlueLemur welcome, it looks like we have similar issue with low ovarian reserve and MFI.

YellowTack · 09/06/2025 19:15

I think I probably have an hormonal drop from all the injections as I have been crazy emotional today.

One of my neighbour’s adult son came to drop my neighbour’s Father’s day presents but he was not home, so he left them at my house instead. This is the third time it happens, as the son has also left Christmas presents with me before. I cried my balls out because it makes me so sad that the son doesn’t want to make the effort to come back dropping the presents when his dad is home. I couldn’t stop crying thinking about the lonely dad!

cakeislife1234 · 09/06/2025 19:47

@YellowTack I remember once being so hormonal that I cried at a dancing dog at crufts. Like proper snotty sobbing lol

I’m struggling to keep busy atm waiting to find out if we have any blastocysts on Wednesday, and stressing in case I have any OHSS symptoms and can’t have a fresh transfer. I feel like I’ve built it up in my head that it’s happening weds and will be so gutted if it doesn’t xx

Rayofsunshine22 · 09/06/2025 19:51

@Gosia19 thank you!! The clinic called me & I feel much better they give me a link for tutorials for the exact meds I have and apparently there is no difference between the ones I have in fridge and ones not. Just the dosage. All very confusing! I feel easier now I've watched the clips and just want to get started. No I'm only day 1 off the Northisterone so period will start in next 4-5 days. Then I call them & I think they will tell me to start the following night. So just under a week's time.
Thanks so much for everyone's advice.

Welcome @SharpBlueLemur I had so much acupuncture when TTC & it didn't get me anywhere. I'm sure it has different advantages in IVF let us know how you get on if you go for that xx

YellowTack · 09/06/2025 20:01

@cakeislife1234 does your clinic give you daily updates on the embryos? I am crossing my fingers that you can have a fresh transfer on Wednesday!

We are paying for embryoscope this time so we get daily updates, but I am not sure I like it as I keep waiting for the emails/calls and it’s often bad news as the numbers keep droping.

cakeislife1234 · 09/06/2025 20:06

We got an update with how many fertilised and then they offered to ring today with a day 3 update, but stupidly I said I didn’t need one. I think it would have just made me more anxious and it makes no difference in the long term really does it unless they get to day 5?
that’s what I’m trying to tell myself anyway haha xx

StillTrying10000 · 09/06/2025 20:22

Looking for some advice please… day 9 scan showed thickened lining at 16mm, clinic scanning me said it’s to thick and not to go ahead with transfer. However I sent the report to Kings who are due to do the transfer and they’ve said see you for transfer next Wednesday. Such a roller coaster as I was so upset it was cancelled to now be hopeful again but I don’t want to waste an embroyo. Any thoughts please? xx

YellowTack · 09/06/2025 22:29

@cakeislife1234 you are right the intermediate updates don’t really make any difference as it’s the day 5 status that counts. My previous clinic was also of the opinion that it was better to leave the embryos alone and not take them out of where they were stored to check on the status.
