Hi All!

I might be early to it here, but thought I'd start a threat for anyone who knows they'll be going through it in June this year!

I'm based near Sheffield, and will be going through the treatment in sheffield. I'm 36, will turn 37 during the treatment. We've been through one failed round last August, so we've spent the time since getting further private checks done, and now we're ready for the next round. We came back as 'normal' on the nhs tests, but we found other things with these private tests! We've had all of our follow ups, catch up consultation appointments. Next appointment is our nurse appointment on the 5th May, then after that it's waiting for my next cycle to start at the very end of May / beginning of June.

From the further tests we've had done, I'm now on thyroid medication to bring my thyroid down to fertility recommended levels, my partner had DNA Frag & Oxidative Stress tests done and we've made improvements based on the results of these. I've also been having some acupuncture, which I've also feel has helped my sanity!

Please share your stories and hopefully we can all support each other during this. I'm much more nervous this time, even though I know we're better set up than we were last time.

@K8113 congratulations. That test looks great.

YellowTack · 01/07/2025 10:02

@lemonandsugarpancakes sorry to hear that. I know how you feel, my EC last month was also on the due date of my first pregnancy that I miscarried. This journey is so unfair.

YellowTack · 01/07/2025 10:10

I had my EC yesterday, out of the 2 follicles one was empty so I was devastated. Miraculously our one follicle has fertilised, I am crossing everything that it will make it to blast and that I will not have done all of this for nothing.

My recovery was a bit difficult, I have never lost that much blood after an EC so it was very scary, but it seems to have calmed down today.

The good news is that they also did a hysteroscopy during EC as I wanted to make sure I had no adhesions from my previous miscarriage surgeries, and my uterus is normal!

I am a bit gutted as I wanted to do a third cycle in a row to bank some embryos, but the clinic has now recommended a break. Maybe it’s for the best as this cycle hasn’t been the best, but I am planning to start a new job in autumn and was hoping to be done with the egg collections at this stage, especially because we have used a clinic in Prague and I won’t really able to go back there if I start a new job!

Hi everyone
I'm hoping it's not too late for me to join in here. I had my first round egg collection on Sunday. I'm finding the waiting almost unbearable and wondered if anyone has any tips or encouragement!
I'm 40 years old, trying to conceive our second child. My AMH is 6.5. I had 15 eggs collected on Sunday but only 8 were mature and 5 fertilised. From reading online since then I realise that's relatively normal, but I was really disappointed at first. The doctor is advising two rounds of IVF and to do PGT-A given my age. From the doctor's advice it seems that from the two rounds I would need about 4 day 5 blasts in order to have a chance of a euploid embryo, which just seems so unlikely right now.
Just waiting on the lab update tomorrow and wondering how on earth the time will pass between now and then!
Thanks!

Rayofsunshine22 · 01/07/2025 14:04

@K8113 I was going to ask the same about your results? Have you heard yet? I'm keeping everything crossed for you it's not bad news 🙏🏻 a friend of mine bled a lot in pregnancy especially these early stages.

K8113 · 01/07/2025 16:03

Well ladies that’s me out. I’ve now started bleeding A LOT with blood clots and really bad cramping too. Just when I thought this was it … wow this journey is just brutal

So so sorry @K8113 xx

K8113 · 01/07/2025 18:12

Just got my beta back as blood pours down my legs (tmi) and it’s 248 (yesterday)
sorry for ranting on here but I’m just feeling so lost

RainbowFluff · 01/07/2025 18:34

@K8113 what an awful rollercoaster for you. I really don’t know what to say, it’s such a surprise when it was going so well.

@YellowTack sorry you had such a bad experience, that must have been really frightening. I haven’t had cycles as close together as you but after doing December and February the recovery definitely took longer, I’ve had a break since then and it was much needed (although not recommended due to my age!).

HelloPippa0 · 01/07/2025 22:02

Thinking of you @K8113

K8113 · 02/07/2025 08:44

Morning girls so I’m going for a scan at the early pregnancy unit. The bleeding didn’t last long it was quite a bit and now it’s just spotting so not a clue what’s going on! Will report back. I just want closure I think or at least to know some answers

CloudyIvy55 · 02/07/2025 09:55

@K8113just catching up and reading through all your updates is such a roller coaster! There's no words and I'm so sorry, it's so scary to not know for sure what's going on but fearing the worst. Rant on here as much as you need, its what we are all here for! Thinking of you and your scan today x

CloudyIvy55 · 02/07/2025 09:58

@YellowTacksorry to hear your egg collection was so difficult! How are you feeling now? All the luck in the world for your fertalised egg!

CloudyIvy55 · 02/07/2025 09:59

Hey @@Pinguino24 have you had any embryo updates? The wait is so hard!

FluentTealGuide · 02/07/2025 11:30

Sorry to hear about the total rollercoaster you're on K8113. The EPU is not a fun place to be – I hope you have someone for support, and please eat all the chocolate you need right now!

I've had a bit of a hiatus as I've been super busy and a few things going on. While I was waiting for my period to come so I could discuss dates for the frozen transfer from my EC this cycle, I found a lump in my breast. The GP said it could be just dense tissue caused by the IVF meds, but of course we need to get it checked out, so now I'm on the 2-week pathway for an appointment at the breast clinic. Apparently they do all the tests on one day, so I should find out if it's anything to worry about straight away. I'm feeling hopeful, but best case it will mean another delay for when we can finally transfer. I'm darting around a bit mentally, switching from ticking off my lifemin to-dos by getting my husband on all the bills and finally setting up LPAs, to booking in summer activities, saving up for the transfer and checking my cycle dates against my plans.

confused2025 · 02/07/2025 12:20

@K8113youre in my thoughts. Know we are all thinking of you x

CloudyIvy55 · 02/07/2025 13:24

Oh goodness me @FluentTealGuidethat's a lot to have on your mind. Glad you'll get the results in a couple of weeks, lots of looking after yourself until then!

CloudyIvy55 · 02/07/2025 13:26

Next steps for me are choosing a medicated or natural cycle for my frozen transfer. I've got the pros and cons from the clinic but basically the decision is up to me! Anyone got any advice?

LimeBird · 02/07/2025 13:34

So sorry to hear your update @K8113 and hope you are ok and get reassurance on the lump @FluentTealGuide !

Just an update from me, got our PGTA test results back today from our one blastocyst we managed to get from the 3 back to back egg collections. And it is abnormal. So sad and angry! I nearly threw my phone across the kitchen, was such a strong urge! Just so sick of the constantly bad news phone calls (I know in my rational mind they are trying to help!) So that’s us done- don’t think there is much point doing more cycles as the last two rounds ended in no blasts, and the only blast from last year was abnormal anyway!

Having a break before our review appt as don’t want to see that clinic waiting room for a few months yet 😂 so we will just try and close this chapter and think about donor eggs or getting a dog (but for next few months I’m just going to try switch off all things fertility!)

wishing you all the best with the ongoing cycles, really thankful to this community for support x

YellowTack · 02/07/2025 14:35

@FluentTealGuide as if this process wasn’t stressful enough! I have been referred in the past when I found a lump in my breast and had a great experience at the breast clinic. It ended up just being dense tissue but it’s good to have the reassurance.
