Hi All!

I might be early to it here, but thought I'd start a threat for anyone who knows they'll be going through it in June this year!

I'm based near Sheffield, and will be going through the treatment in sheffield. I'm 36, will turn 37 during the treatment. We've been through one failed round last August, so we've spent the time since getting further private checks done, and now we're ready for the next round. We came back as 'normal' on the nhs tests, but we found other things with these private tests! We've had all of our follow ups, catch up consultation appointments. Next appointment is our nurse appointment on the 5th May, then after that it's waiting for my next cycle to start at the very end of May / beginning of June.

From the further tests we've had done, I'm now on thyroid medication to bring my thyroid down to fertility recommended levels, my partner had DNA Frag & Oxidative Stress tests done and we've made improvements based on the results of these. I've also been having some acupuncture, which I've also feel has helped my sanity!

Please share your stories and hopefully we can all support each other during this. I'm much more nervous this time, even though I know we're better set up than we were last time.

Hi!
Failed IUI here… same sex couple!
planning to start IVF end of May/ start June if the donor sperm arrives in time and I can get it all sorted.. if not will be end of June!
Anxious for my first time but also excited…
Trying to keep things as normal as possible finding it hard to navigate around booking holidays etc and all the dates that come with IVF compared with IUI
Trying to eat healthily keep active and like you say keep my sanity!
haven’t tried acupuncture but a lot of people in the ttc community seem very positive about this,
Best 😁of luck!!

Final checks on 6th May with 🤞🤞🤞🤞 for short protocol to start end of May/ start of June. Already had HYCOSY delayed due to AF being a pain in the rear end and arriving 5days late 🤬🤬🤬🤬. This will be my first round, hubby has the dreaded 3 low count, low motility and poor morphology. His last set of tests were 2 years ago and I have been trying to lose weight ever since. My BMI is still high however I have found a private company which will accept it. His updated results will be the same day. Let’s see what happens.

GLizzie88 · 29/04/2025 09:19

I've realised I meant to write thread instead of threat!!
How close will you be able to book it @cblbmh ? Wishing you luck that it comes soon so that you don't have to wait another month!
@WantABabySoon it sounds like our dates are similar too.

Just a waiting game at the moment! Nervous about the appointment on Monday, but only because it'll feel all the more real then!

Nervous now, my last cycle pre- ivf came yesterday so on the countdown now.

Partner has 2 tests coming up, one being the oxidative stress test to see if what we've done has improved things. Pretty nervous to be honest, if the figures aren't any better, I'm not sure what we'll fo!

Hello all,
I will also start a short protocol toward the end of May for an egg collection in June.
I have low AMH and a blocked tube, and my husband has MFI. I have done 2 previous IVF cycles, but unfortunately they both ended in missed miscarriages at 10 weeks.
I am now going ahead with a clinic in Prague for my next cycle, the plan is to do 2 back to back cycles to bank embryos and do PGT-A.
I have also done additional tests for thrombophilia, and my husband and I did karyotypes, but we are still waiting for the results.
I can’t believe that I am about to start another cycle, and I now have all the meds in the fridge which make things more real. I am excited but also a little scared!

GLizzie88 · 07/05/2025 16:48

Hi and welcome @YellowTack !

I'm so sorry to hear about your previous cycles.

I haven't heard of those tests, have they helped to give you any answers? And i feel exactly the same, excited and scared!

Hi everyone - we are starting IVF treatment this month, with egg collection planned for mid-June. This is my first try and the meds are arriving tomorrow. 😊Good luck to everybody on their journey!

YellowTack · 07/05/2025 22:46

@GLizzie88 we are doing the thrombophilia tests to see we could have a blood clotting issue that could have caused the miscarriages, and the karyotypes to see if my husband and I have any genetic issues (translocations) that could also explain the miscarriages. Apparently it can take 1 month to get the results so I hope I will have them in time for my next cycle!

I am surprised nobody recommended us the DNA fragmentation test!

Gosia19 · 09/05/2025 12:20

I’m starting norethisterone tomorrow. ☺️ Has anyone changed their diet for IVF?

Rayofsunshine22 · 12/05/2025 23:56

Hi everyone, can I join please. First time ivf here (secondary infertility) starting norethisterone end of May. I'm also going through access fertility if anyone else is using them?

GLizzie88 · 13/05/2025 09:12

Hi @Gosia19 and @Rayofsunshine22 welcome! How are you feeling about it all?
That's interesting @YellowTack , there are so many tests it can be a minefield! We have the next stress oxidisation test next week. keeping absolutely everything crossed for it.

I've changed my diet a bit, just to make sure i've got a better diet. I've also got some supplements I'm taking (nutritionist recommended). Trying to do what I can this time around.
@Rayofsunshine22 it's so interesting the different things everyone is on. I'm on an nhs round so we get whatever they choose! I start on gonal-f at the end of the month / beginning of June (depending on when my cycle starts).

Rayofsunshine22 · 14/05/2025 23:46

@GLizzie88 hey, one minute I'm excited to start the next I can't believe I'm at this point. It won't feel real until I start. I'm not NHS but I just go with what they say too. We could be similar times then by the sounds of it. My May period is just ending now. Oh I'm also on thyroid meds as well as I was overactive. Found this out over a year ago when going through fertility tests. So the PTU that I'm on has meant thyroid is showing normal now thank goodness.

YellowTack · 15/05/2025 09:38

I am to get impatient, in theory I could be starting the injections in 10 days!!! Sometimes I think I am a little crazy to have decided to do this is Prague but it’s too late to change my mind now so I will just go with it.

I am also a bit sad, I have had to cancel my holidays in Italy as of course egg collection will now fall exactly during that week. I was really looking forward to Italy but at the same time with my low AMH I didn’t want to delay treatment.

@GLizzie88 I will also be on Gonal-F, that’s what I was on during my NHS cycle which yielded the best results so I want to try it again.

KayEmmSquared · 15/05/2025 09:49

Hi All, I’ll be starting norethisterone at the end of May for a June collection/transfer. This is our second cycle, the first was a couple of months ago, we only got one egg which fertilised but didn't make it to transfer. We are on a different protocol this time (flare) so hoping that yields better results 🤞🏻

Gosia19 · 15/05/2025 21:18

Welcome @KayEmmSquared and nice to meet everybody!

It’s our first-time doing IVF, NHS funded. We have a risk of passing on a genetic condition, so we are doing IVF to allow embryo testing.

I should start stims towards the end of this month. ☺️ Sending everyone lots of well wishes and support!

CloudyIvy55 · 17/05/2025 12:12

Hello!!

Hopefully we will be starting early/mid June 🤞 we have our Treatment Planning appointment in just over a week and they tell me I should be able to start on my next period.

First IVF cycle with NHS funding. Unexplained infertility.

Will be good to share our stories on here - wishing all of you lots of luck!

GLizzie88 · 19/05/2025 11:07

Everyone has such different journeys.
@YellowTack I had to cancel a holiday last year as they ended up putting it on the zika risk list! So I know how you feel.
We sound like similar timings too at the moment.
@CloudyIvy55 have you been recommended to check anything else? It's so hard to know!
We had a stress oxidisation repeat test this morning and it's come back within normal range, so thats given me some hope.

Just have to wait until next weekend now to see when my cycle starts, very nerve wracking!

CloudyIvy55 · 19/05/2025 12:41

Hey @GLizzie88

We've had the standard NHS tests so blood tests, confirming ovulation. I've had a transvaginal scan which didn't highlight any issues.

Sperm testing suggesting a slight morphology issue but the consultant said its only slightly lower than normal range and because of that we are still classed as 'unexplained'.

We haven't had anything else and sometimes I think I'm doing a bad job at pushing for more testing and advocating for us. I'm just kind of going with the flow and trusting in what the professionals say.

Gosia19 · 20/05/2025 21:04

Hey @CloudyIvy55 - totally understandable. There’s so much to wrap your head around with how all the IVF works, I think going with the flow is really positive. 😊

I’ve been on norethisterone for the past ten days, no side effects so far and finishing them this Saturday. Then waiting for a bleed and to start stims on day 3 of that cycle. Feeling quite excited to get to there and have a better idea of dates!

GLizzie88 · 21/05/2025 09:07

Totally agree, and you'll learn as you go!

Yes i agree, it's better when you know your dates!! I'm expecting to start meds on the 2nd June but obviously tbc!

OP posts:
Gosia19 · 21/05/2025 20:57

Exciting @GLizzie88 - I think our timings will be similar. My clinic is expecting me to be on stims 10-12 days. ☺️

Rayofsunshine22 · 22/05/2025 23:26

Hi everyone, lovely to hear a little about everyone on here and how you are all getting on. My date for starting norethisterone is 30th may. My partner and I are needing to read & sign the millions of consent forms and complete online learning modules prior to a planning appointment I have on 6th June.
Is anyone on here using Access Fertility program with their clinic?

Pharmapalava · 23/05/2025 11:08

Hello everyone - thanks @GLizzie88 for starting this thread!

I'm on my 4th cycle and FET transfer maybe 2/3 June 🤞 Hope that's not too early for this thread 😅 the meds and 2ww will be torture so similar to everyone - excited and scared and looking forward to being together on this journey 🙏

We have 2 frozen embryos left (untested) but I turn 39 next week so going to just chuck them both in and see.

@Gosia19 I was recommended to have at least 60g protein per day in the run up to egg collection by my current clinic (along with 3l water) - I think that might have been more to do with OHSS than egg quality though as I'm susceptible. I couldn't quite manage that much chicken in a day so protein shakes helped 😆 it worked as I was able to do a fresh transfer.

@CloudyIvy55 - I feel you re advocating and testing. For our first (and only) funded NHS cycle, we were recommended ICSI because my husband's parameters were a bit low. But then on the day, it improved ever so slightly so they reverted to IVF (because it's cheaper) and even though we had 11 mature eggs collected, only 1 fertilised and arrested on day 2 so no transfer. It was devastating.

Tests wise, everything seems fine-ish. An interesting one was karyotyping where they found I'm heterozygous for a gene that means I'm not good at converting folic acid so now I'm taking the bio-active version as a supplement instead (Methylfolate).

Meds / stims / drugs - has anyone else had trouble - finding them, when time's tight with a full time job and stretching the budget? My clinic's quite intense with the monitoring and tweaking the doses however, only the pharmacies nearby have any stock consistently but it's an hours commute away and there's no way to compare prices 😔
