Hi All!

I might be early to it here, but thought I'd start a threat for anyone who knows they'll be going through it in June this year!

I'm based near Sheffield, and will be going through the treatment in sheffield. I'm 36, will turn 37 during the treatment. We've been through one failed round last August, so we've spent the time since getting further private checks done, and now we're ready for the next round. We came back as 'normal' on the nhs tests, but we found other things with these private tests! We've had all of our follow ups, catch up consultation appointments. Next appointment is our nurse appointment on the 5th May, then after that it's waiting for my next cycle to start at the very end of May / beginning of June.

From the further tests we've had done, I'm now on thyroid medication to bring my thyroid down to fertility recommended levels, my partner had DNA Frag & Oxidative Stress tests done and we've made improvements based on the results of these. I've also been having some acupuncture, which I've also feel has helped my sanity!

Please share your stories and hopefully we can all support each other during this. I'm much more nervous this time, even though I know we're better set up than we were last time.

@Gosia19 @KittyIIV thank you both!! I’m so nervous, not gonna lie. I’m sure once the first one is done it’ll feel better. Good luck to you both as well. It’s really nice to have people in the same boat! All of my friendship group seem to be ridiculously fertile and I’m the only one going down this pathway.

Kitty, drinking water is the one thing I am good at in this area!! So sorry I can’t help. Could you try squash / cordials? My husband is a camel and barely drinks so he does squash etc. xxx

Don’t be nervous! Just get through the first day and you’ll be absolutely fine 🥰. Exact same, going on instagram is like torture with all the new babies! To make it worse my younger brother just had a baby, which I am obviously overjoyed for, but they got pregnant in like the first month and now everyone in the family is like well why haven’t you had a baby yet 😤 xxx

@GLizzie88 I will now have only one scan, which is a bit odd but I am not at risk of OHSS so I should be okay.
@FluentTealGuide I am doing a freeze all cycle so I will only be there 5 days! I think I will have time to do some sightseeing so hopefully it will be like a mini vacation.
@KittyIIV welcome to the thread! TFP would have been my clinic of choice if we hadn't decided to go to Prague, I have heard good things about this clinic.
@Hopeandfaith1990 I remember that I also had to do my first ever IVF injection alone! You got this!

YellowTack · 29/05/2025 22:47

I have done my first injection this evening but it’s my third cycle so I have some experience with injections now 😅. I am having Gonal which is really straightforward to inject, no mixing or anything. It just has this really strong smell, my husband can’t smell it but I swear I can still smell it even though I did the injection 2 hours ago.

I can’t believe it is already my third cycle. I am doing a freeze all this time because we want to do PGT-A, which is good because it gives me a little more time before any transfer as I don’t feel quitz ready yet after my 2 miscariages from my 2 previous IVF cycles.

Gosia19 · 30/05/2025 08:44

Well done to everyone who has started their injections! I’ve got my first one tonight. ☺️ I’ll probably be nervous later but at the moment I’m excited to get the first one done as everyone says it’s much easier afterwards.

Have a great time at the wedding@Hopeandfaith1990!

@KittyIIV I am also terrible at drinking water and usually dont drink anywhere near enough. I find drinking from a water bottle helps as I can carry it about and keep track. I’m going to try drinking 1 litre before I leave the house, 1 litre while I’m out and 1 litre in the evening. My bottle is 500ml so I know I need to fill it up twice at each step to reach the target.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Gosia19 · 30/05/2025 08:46

Also sending you lots of love @YellowTack - I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriages, that sounds really tough and glad you will have a break with FET. We will be freezing for testing too.

Bless you I am so sorry to hear you have had to go through this, but third time lucky 🍀 I have everything crossed for you 💕

@Gosia19 thanks so much for the tip on the water bottle, I have been drinking from 1l bottles of flavoured water to try track it but also cans of flavoured water as well and I’m losing track 🤦‍♀️

KittyIIV · 30/05/2025 11:47

Good luck everyone starting injections over the next few days!

KittyIIV · 30/05/2025 11:49

@YellowTacksorry if I missed it but when do you fly next week? So exciting!

Limmers14 · 30/05/2025 11:51

Hi ladies! Glad to have found a thread for June. I’ve been on Gonal F, Menopur and Fyremadel for the past 10 days. Had my final scan with the clinic today and looking good for egg collection on Monday! It’s a weirdly exciting time, just staying positive, drinking lots of water and having a lot of protein. My husband and I have unexplained infertility. We’ve been trying for 2 years with no luck.

Hope everyone is getting on okay with scans and injections!

FluentTealGuide · 30/05/2025 12:04

Is anyone else here vegetarian? I eat well rounded generally (bloods have always come back fine when I’ve needed tests), but protein, protein, protein is being hammered into me at the moment and Lady Anxiety has me hyper-focused on that right now 😅.

I’m planning to switch out cereal for granola and yoghurt for brekkie; I usually have cheese and a handful of walnuts and peanuts at lunch anyway, and I’ve ordered mealbox dinners with at least 30g protein for next weekend (when I’ll be starting the meds).

I think high protein snacks will be a good way to increase as usually I just have fruit, toast or a biscuit if I’m hungry between meals. Any suggestions?

Limmers14 · 30/05/2025 13:11

@FluentTealGuide I’ve been having either and egg or Greek yoghurt and granola with seeds in the morning, trying to have fish or quinoa/chickpea salad for lunch, an alpro protein yogurt in the afternoon (15g!) and chicken/beans/tofu for dinner.

The alpro protein yogurt has really helped increase my intake. I’m aiming for 60g a day. Not sure if it’s helping or not but I’m at 31 follicles and don’t feel too bad, just a bit uncomfortable.

LimeBird · 30/05/2025 13:19

Hi all! Sorry another late joiner 😂
I’m in the middle of my injection stage, 4th round of ICSI! I am 41 now have low ovarian reserve (started fertility investigations around age 38).
@GLizzie88 I think I remember your name from previous threads, how are you getting on?
My last round in Feb/March didn’t go well (no embryos made it to blastocyst stage) so I’m kind of nervous about this (probably last) round. We have one embryo frozen for PGTA testing and will freeze anything we get from this one for testing too. Trying to balance not getting my hopes up too much (due to last time) but then trying not to just think ‘it’s not going to work’! Any tips welcome 🤗
Hope everyone is ok on this mad journey! X

Hopeandfaith1990 · 30/05/2025 15:03

Thanks @YellowTack . We are doing PGT-A as well. Have you had the counseling appt? Its so interesting.

@Limmers14 Super good luck for Monday, crossing everything for you and please report back on how it goes! x

@FluentTealGuide I'm no longer veggie (mainly due to TTC sigh) but I do still eat a lot of veggie proteins. I found these sucker yoghurt things that have 15-25g protein in so I've stocked up on those, also halloumi, eggs (8g per egg), tofu. The yoghurts are really yummy and a good snack. I also put a scoop of protein in my morning smoothie which is about 25g.

Hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread. Started my injections on Monday for hopefully egg collection late next week. Secondary infertility, 5 miscarriages and an ectopic over the last 4 years so PGTA testing. Just hoping genetically one or two make it through! x

KittyIIV · 30/05/2025 17:01

Welcome welcome! @LimeBird@cakeislife1234everything crossed for you that this time round will be your time! It will be worth the wait Xx

So sorry to hear of your miscarriages and ectopic. 💕 I started on Tuesday so we are close. What meds are you on? X

Gosia19 · 30/05/2025 19:32

First injection done! Feeling quite proud, stuck it in on the first try and didn’t even feel it. We’ve got this everyone! Cheering everyone on.

CloudyIvy55 · 30/05/2025 19:33

@Gosia19 go you!! Well done 👏

Hello all 😀joining very last minute! First time doing IVF after recurrent miscarriage over the past 2.5 years (5 in total, 1 ectopic 4 MC). Finally feeling a bit more positive on this journey! Had injection teach today, meds delivered on Tuesday and going to start Fostimon on CD2 on Friday!

Just to make it more complicated I'm off to a wedding in Ireland this weekend so got to take the meds on the plane and do my first ever injection alone (husband staying home with dogs haha) in a strange place!!

Hope everyone is all good xxx

Im so sorry for your reoccurring losses. I hope starring ivf will be a huge turn around for you. Enjoy the wedding and my advice on self injecting is to not think about just do it. The more you linger and worry yourself the harder it gets. My husband usually does my injections because I really hate needles but my last cycle he was not going to make it home in time to do my trigger shot and I had no choice but to do it myself. I did it, I just preped and injected without a second thought and bam! Got it done.

I have no advice. We had a cycle in April that was a complete failure. Our cycle last month was cancelled and this month iv contemplated not going through with another cycle because iv lost all confidence in myself and my ability to create embryos. I have children already and probably dont need to do this too myself but I want another baby and I cant convince myself I dont want another.

LimeBird · 31/05/2025 20:33

@Miraclemuma03 I know what you mean about losing faith in your ability to create the embryos! Last time really knocked me for six and time passes for each round and recovery phase, so you wonder if less likely each time. Here’s hoping we both get lucky this time x

Hopeandfaith1990 · 01/06/2025 11:54

Hi @Miraclemuma03 thank you for the advice - I have done now two injections! They definitely weren't as bad as I'd thought, the mixing of the medicine was perhaps more stressful to be sure I'd done it correctly.

Hello @cakeislife1234 so sorry for your losses. I'm also here after RPL and then struggling to conceive. Have you had any side effects from the injections? Good luck with the egg collection!

A question to all/anyone - I've not had any side effects yet of my FSH Stims (Fostimon). I also don't have any bruises where I've been injecting! This probably sounds silly but I'm worried I've been doing it wrong because of this 😂but equally I've only done two injections so far so I should probably just calm down. Anyone else been on or on Fostimon?
