Hi all ☺️

I have had an IVF round in November and had a freeze all cycle. I have had a meeting with the consultant this morning and will be doing a FET in late December/early Jan.

Please join this thread if you are on a similar timescale πŸ’«

Hey ladies, 2 days until transfer day and feeling today like I'm getting a UTI πŸ˜” I'm in the clinic in the morning for my progesterone blood test so the clinic are going to do a urine test and prescribe antibiotics if needed. They said can still proceed with transfer but just feeling really worried that this will impact our chances.

Sherr33 · 15/01/2025 16:43

I am going crazy. I'm not experiencing symptoms like I did with my failed FET in terms of more bloated, tender boobs. I have very specific symptoms in my previous two transfers when on progesterone. And it's actually scaring me that I'm not feeling any if these. My clinic don't do blood test to check progesterone but I'm so scared my pessaries are not being absorbed or I'm inserting them wrong :-((

SamVan · 15/01/2025 17:14

@Sherr33 if you absorbed progesterone before it should be fine. Is your temp rising? I usually check that as confirmation. I don’t think it’s possible to insert pessaries wrong - you’re not putting them in your ears are you?

Haha you made me chuckle. (TMI but I'm just worried I haven't been inserting it further up than I have done in the past.)

SamVan · 15/01/2025 17:19

@Sherr33 I usually put it in the butt and then clench my butt cheeks so it goes further up but was told as long as it doesn’t fall out that’s fine. The skin inside is uniform really so no reason it wouldn’t absorb the same.

Thank you so much. I was working myself up so badly thinking I haven't done the 1 inch 2 inch or whatever inches up and ruined everything πŸ˜ͺ I hate my brain during the two week wait. X

Mseddy · 15/01/2025 17:58

@Sherr33 I'm a nurse, as long as there isn't obviously clumps of medication coming out then you are doing fine with insertion so don't stress.

@Daniki absolutely the same!! I had to nip the loo during a part of work we don't usually leave from yesterday. Got a bit of a telling off about it but I was just like look, I HAD to go to the loo! Didn't really want to explain that I felt like I'd peed myself because there was SO much!

Daniki · 15/01/2025 18:02

@Mseddy same it's horrendous! Feel like a slug 🐌 β˜ΉοΈπŸ˜‚

@Hopefullyonedaysoon I completely understand your worry (I would be same) but your urinary tract is separate and antibiotics won’t affect the outcome of your transfer,if it would then the clinic wouldn’t be prescribing ❀️

@Mseddy me too! Hope you are utilising the fertility/special leave if you are NHS.

@Sherr33 bums are soooo good for getting medications into the bloodstream! Don’t stress!! I’m laughing @SamVan in the ear πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@Cosyseason1234 I'm not this time around. I did last time though. I'm currently doing my masters in advanced practice, so can't take too much time off! I'm using annual leave to cover between transfer and OTD because I don't want to be at work. If we have to have more transfers I'll end up using sick/special leave because I don't want to waste all my annual leave. I feel like I'm taking the Mick a bit by doing this mid way through my training as it is! So didn't think asking for a load of leave was fair. Totally got my moneys worth last time though, I stayed off on leave until I was 8 weeks pregnant and it was over Christmas!

Cosyseason1234 · 15/01/2025 20:30

@Mseddy fair play to you doing your ACP masters πŸ‘πŸ» defo not taking the mick, most people just have sex and get pregnant, ivf is an emotional journey!! Good to hear you have taken time off from transfer to OTD,I’ve filled my diary with busy but not stressful duties the first week and I’ll see how I go. Can imagine I’ll be a serial early tester!

Mseddy · 16/01/2025 08:56

@Cosyseason1234 I absolutely am. With my two BFPs they both showed up at 6dp5dt, so I'll test from then probably. One was a chemical and my test was still really positive on OTD but I knew it was fainter because I'd already tested 4 times by OTD. I can help but think how much more it would have hurt if I had have waited, tested on OTD and seen a positive test, booked my scan in with the clinic and then started bleeding. When I rang the clinic on OTD and said my test is much lighter she told me to test again in 48 hours (was on holiday so couldn't have bloods) and expect the worst. So at least it wasn't all sunshine and roses before I started bleeding if that makes sense. So from that I always told myself I would test early to try and protect myself from a harder fall on OTD. Also at 6dp5dt, if it's negative it might just be too early, so you get to keep a little hope while your heart prepares for the worst. On OTD if it's negative that's it, there is zero hope. I need the slow let down

Cosyseason1234 · 16/01/2025 09:30

@Mseddy thanks for sharing this,I would much rather be ready for a negative than drive myself mad until test day with no control!

Have you got anymore frozen embryos? We have 3 in total but financially and mentally I’m not sure if/when we would transfer if this one isn’t successful.

I had the same experience on my chemical - still positive on the test date and it was only because I had tested before that I could advocate for a second test. It would have been devastating to go to my scan at 6 weeks to be told it didn’t work. I don’t even know if I would have started bleeding due to the progesterone.

i tested from 5dpt this time alll negative and its 9dpt today so im definitely out! @monicabella1234 good luck for your test today.

SlinkMcSlink · 16/01/2025 11:19

Hope everyone is okay? Nearly at the weekend. I’m just sat waiting to go into my baseline appointment. Finding balancing this and work a bit trickier this time round.

I agree with getting into the right headspace and trying to remain mentally positive. Well more mentally stable than positive!

Sherr33 · 16/01/2025 11:42

I'm getting cramps. The sort that I usually get when my period is coming :-(
I just wish my clinic would let me do a progesterone test to give me some reassurance that everything is okay. But this cramping and lower back honestly all indicate a period

Cosyseason1234 · 16/01/2025 12:12

@SamVan so sorry to read this, infertility is so brutal! have I remembered correctly that you were in Barbados for your negative in december?

@SlinkMcSlink totally with you in trying to remain mentally stable! Hope your scan went ok.

@Sherr33 try not to overthink,I know it’s hard though! What stage are you at now?

@Cosyseason1234 I transferred on Monday I'm not sure what that makes me. It was a day 5 blastocyst

Cosyseason1234 · 16/01/2025 12:16

@Sherr33 could very possibly be implantation? Try and go for a walk or do something nice for yourself today to take your mind off it ❀️

@SamVan sorry to hear you are out. Such a shit game this infertility stuff.

@Cosyseason1234 we have three too. I've said we will try with these three one at a time and then call it a day completely. I don't think mentally I could face another fresh round. I think if this one doesn't work I'll take a 2/3 month gap before I go for the next one just to give myself some time/space

Hopefullyonedaysoon · 16/01/2025 13:16

@SamVan so sorry to hear this, sending love and hugs. ❀️

@Sherr33 that makes you 3dp5dt today (3 days post 5 day transfer), just out of curiosity what is the reason for them refusing the progesterone test? Did they do one the day before transfer?

No, I asked them to let me please do one before transfer and they said no. And now they said basically there is no point doing at this stage as won't make a difference. They said I'm on 3x cyclogest and 1x lubion injection and that should be enough but I don't hace any symptoms this time. No sore sensitive boobs, not much in way of bloat yes a little gassy but no where as much as before with my prev cycle

SamVan · 16/01/2025 13:20

@Cosyseason1234 @Mseddy @Hopefullyonedaysoon thanks guys! It sucks but it’s fine. I’ve decided to make the most of my freedom and enjoy my time until it works. Actually feel mentally ok about it. The first fet was the roughest mentally as I had a chemical but I’m just treating these transfers as a process now. Fresh round in April with hopefully better results! I’ve started coq10 but keen for any other recs to improve egg quality. My husband is getting every sperm test under the sun at the moment πŸ˜‚

@Cosyseason1234 I was in the Maldives, it was lush. Being away is great for cushioning the blow.

Hopefullyonedaysoon · 16/01/2025 13:36

@Sherr33 surprised they didn't do one before transfer. However in regards to symptoms your body might just be a bit more used to the progesterone this time and so not reacting as much. I had zero symptoms last time and it was successful. This time I only needed 10 days of estrogen for lining whereas last time I needed 20 days so I really do think it varies cycle to cycle. I know nothing alleviates the worry but I hope this gives some reassurance ❀️
