IVF / ICSI November

Anyone starting stims in November?

I started stims last night. I'm on a long protocol. Started in October with norethisterone and then Buserelin. This is my second IVF cycle.

First cycle I didn't take the Buserelin, had 8 eggs collected, 3 blasts, none normal (1 high level mosaic in the freezer)

I'm on a 2 cycles package, so hoping this one is the lucky one 🙂

Well done for getting halfway through the wait @tpeas ! Nearly there 🙂
Was expecting a call from the clinic this morning but instead had quite a simple message sent through the portal, just saying no other embryos made it to day 6.
I feel so disappointed at our numbers but also just seeing this in a very short message from the clinic hasn't helped. I feel like they think perhaps they've done their job now so don't really care about ongoing/further contact. Maybe I'm just being oversensitive but it's made me quite sad to have the info shared in this way and I've then had to send a reply asking for more information. 😔

Sorry to hear this - that doesn't sound like a very professional way of passing on the news to you (sounds like it was a way of avoiding a difficult conversation for them).
I've also had a bit of a poor experience with my clinic and their lack communication and no compassion or empathy 😕

Hope you're doing ok

Magix86 · 10/12/2024 11:50

Thank you @spamOFtheDAY I really appreciate that. Up until this point I've been so happy with them and their communication. But this has come across really poor. Just feeling really deflated about the whole thing now so it's hard to switch off from it all!

ivfjourneyandme · 10/12/2024 12:42

@Magix86 you poor thing. Now more than ever you need a hand hold from the clinic, not their response! Hope you’re ok xx

Magix86 · 10/12/2024 13:39

They just called and apologised for the message. But I'm even more upset now as they've told me they did have another 2 yesterday that had reached a blastocyst stage but not good enough quality to freeze. I asked why we didn't have those transferred and have the 2 good quality ones frozen....she said it wasn't worth risking the top quality one not surviving the thaw, and their preference is always to transfer the best one available. I guess if the lower quality ones didn't improve any further by day 6 then perhaps they were right. But still feel like 2 embryos potentially wasted.
This is such a rollercoaster I don't even know how I feel atm

ivfjourneyandme · 10/12/2024 13:46

@Magix86 surely you should have had some say on your embryos??

Magix86 · 10/12/2024 13:49

@ivfjourneyandme that's exactly what I think! They didn't even tell us about these 2 yesterday. It was a 1 minute conversation in the procedure room, they literally just said we're transferring a 4AA and freezing a 3AB and the rest we will watch until tomorrow.

Elena3 · 10/12/2024 13:57

@Magix86 happy birthday and congratulations on your transfer, hoping for the best news now x

I finally got a respond from the clinic, took them a week of not responding to my email regarding the next step of the process (frozen transfer in January 2025). I had no idea what will be happening, but today a nurse phoned me and gave a thorough explanation, step by step process. Looks like it is going to be a medicated cycle with oestradiol once I get my January period, then a scan, then progesterone (cyclogest) and then the transfer. I am not in an awe about being on hormones again, after stims and ohhs I have been having bad headaches pretty much every single day. But oh well.

ivfjourneyandme · 10/12/2024 14:30

@Magix86 im sorry but I think it’s disgusting. I’d be fuming! Well done on producing amazing quality eggs ❤️❤️

Cosyseason1234 · 10/12/2024 17:56

@Magix86 I am so glad they apologised! It’s almost like that have compassion fatigue because they deal with embryos all the time and felt that it was acceptable to deliver that news via the app.
I’ve got everything crossed for your little transferred embryo ❤️ hope you are feeling a little better this evening.

@Elena3 this sounds exactly the same as my conversation with the consultant this morning! He hasn’t uploaded my protocol to the app yet and I wanted to have a look. Did they say how long your period would be after your withdrawal bleed? I’m worried my period will come over Christmas and I won’t be able to start.

Elena3 · 10/12/2024 18:21

@Cosyseason1234 I second what you are saying about compassion fatigue regarding @Magix86 . Even though IVF is such a sensitive process, when they have to deliver news like this every day, consultants/nurses are most likely desensitised, sadly.

They didn't say anything as how long my period would be after withdrawal bleed, I am not even sure when is my 'withdrawal bleed' - is this the period after egg collection? If so, I am having it now and it is very intense, way more intense than my usual periods.

I do wonder why they decided to put me through medicated cycle. I didn't have downregulation before stims, but for the transfer they decided to interfere. My cycle is very regular really and I do ovulate every month. Oh well...

Cosyseason1234 · 10/12/2024 19:05

@Elena3 the period after egg collection I think? Mine was 5 days after and very heavy, not sure if that is actually classed as a period and when to expect my next one. I think I will message in the app,the nurses tend to be alot clearer than the consultants. I have started a new thread for January FETs,be nice to go through it together ☺️

I am having a medicated cycle also, there was no mention of a natural one. It works better for me as I’m abit of a control freak and I think it gives more control over knowing dates for scans and transfer etc?

Elena3 · 10/12/2024 21:22

@Cosyseason1234 yeah, mine is also super heavy!
I saw the new thread and commented there :)
I think you are right, apparently if the cycle is unmedicated is very easy to mess up the correct timing, probably blood tests needed to monitor ovulation etc.

hopefullsosbry · 10/12/2024 23:20

@Elena3 @Cosyseason1234 was told that after the withdrawal bleed then the 1st period after that to contact on that day 1 of the bleed .. that will then be day 2 of that cycle to start your transfer .. if you are unmedicated they will just track your ovulation surge around day 9/10 of your cycle they start and know through blood or urine when you are ready to transfer.
medicated transfer - then you start your injection when they tell you, and scan lining etc leading up to transfer. Hope that helps a bit not sure if youv already been informed all that but that’s what I was told anyways 🥰

@Magix86 I am sorry none of your day 6 embryos made it 😞 you must be so frustrated with the clinic for informing you in that way .. hopefully you can take time to re focus your energy now on your embryo that’s implanting 🤞🏽and you still have your wee frosty also waiting 💖

@ivfjourneyandme best of luck for your upcoming scan .. fingers crossed you get a date for EC !

My bleed has come on today (day 4 after EC) it’s super stingy /nippy ?! My lower back has also been really sore the last few days .. like so sore I need to support myself getting up and off the couch and I can hardly bend over to pick something of the floor ! 😳 anyone else had a really sore back after EC ? Never had it the last two times .. anyways hopefully that eased soon as back to work on Thursday.

hopefullsosbry · 10/12/2024 23:28

@Cosyseason1234 i would love to join the thread for starting transfer in jan but my smear results came back abnormal and I have to get the cells burnt in my cervix and have all that clear before I can get another transfer in, they said it was fine for egg collection to go ahead but I can’t transfer till that’s done and healed !! 😢 we knew we wernt doing a fresh transfer anyways as we are sending any blast we get away for PGT-a testing so we know it would be into next year but it could be another 6 months or more now to wait until the abnormal cervix cells are clear 😞

Elena3 · 11/12/2024 08:46

@hopefullsosbry thank you, this helps! The only thing is I am not sure whether my period is still considered 'withdrawal bleed', as I didn't have any downregulation before/during stims, it was matched with my natural cycle, and my period also came when would be normally expected. I had withdrawal bleeds when was on contraception pill, and this one was nothing like it, really heavy...

Regarding lower back pain - yeah, I had a slight lower back pain (but I also had ohhs), sometimes the lower back pain could actually be your ovaries, the pain radiates there and it feels as lower back pain. Not always the case, of course, but it happens x

So sorry about your smear test results, this is so frustrating as completely messes up with your timeline of treatment now... I didn't even know they can burn abnormal cells😮

Cosyseason1234 · 11/12/2024 16:32

@hopefullsosbry thank you for this, you make much more sense than the consultant did 😂 sorry to hear about your smear results,I have had this in the past and they got me in for the treatment pretty quickly, hopefully it will be the same for you. Hope your back pain is better today and you have had some good news 🤞

@Elena3 as far as I know the withdrawal bleed is a period as that is the womb lining coming out?! I am in same boat as you though not really sure what to expect. I had my bleed on 02/12 hoping my next doesn’t come over Xmas/new year closures and I miss this cycle!

hopefullsosbry · 11/12/2024 17:14

@Elena3 ah ok not sure them sorry if it would be classed as a withdrawal period, i imagine maybes as it’s still your body regulating back to normal after all the stims hormones ? But sorry I don’t know ? And yes the abnormal cells can be burned with a laser of scraped away with small coil thing seemingly?! And it’s only 6 weeks to wait she said today after healing from that so not 6 months as I got muddled with , so that’s good I guess .. although we have booked Mexico now for May thinking we won’t get any treatment till the later half of the year .. 🙄 @Cosyseason1234 sorry you have had this also, can you remember how long it took to heal from it and how soon you can have sex /ttc etc after it ?
anyways if we get euploid then we could wait till after May to transfer I guess , I don’t think I would want to travel do far incase it did work if I fell preg ?!

we got our 5 day call today .. finally .. seemed like a 4 weeks wait that 5 days .. 🤣 out of our 4 mature /4 fertilised we got 2 that made it to day 5 - 4AB and a 3AB so good grades she said .. with one that might go to day 6 🤞🏽 they will call tomorrow with that one but at lest we got 2 .. that’s 50% which is more than we could dream of with only getting 4 outa 9 eggs that were mature .. so happy .. they will be sent for biopsy.. fingers crossed for euploid .. seeminly around 10 days to get results back 🤞🏽💫

Elena3 · 11/12/2024 17:26

Oh @hopefullsosbry thanks for sharing really good news 😍and 6 weeks is much better than 6 months, of course..!

Cosyseason1234 · 11/12/2024 18:35

Yay @hopefullsosbry SO pleased for you! Brilliant news ☺️ It was years ago since I had the cells burnt off so I can’t remember sorry,I don’t remember it being an awful experience though or any lasting pain after? It sounds like you have been through so much with IVF I would defo still go on the holiday, completely get what you mean about not wanting to if you are pregnant though. Do I remember rightly that you have an older child? How were you in that pregnancy? I was absolutely fine in mine after 3 months and could go on holidays etc,I was in my 20s though so who knows now 🤣

Anonneom · 12/12/2024 07:21

Hey guys. Sorry for the silence, been trying to stay off this in the TWW and forget about everything so I don’t overthink. Well today is test day and……

Magix86 · 12/12/2024 08:27

So happy for you @Anonneom congratulations!! Have you had any symptoms at all?

Cosyseason1234 · 12/12/2024 08:41

Yay @Anonneom congratulations 🥰❤️

Anonneom · 12/12/2024 09:27

Thanks everyone. @Magix86 I have had some symptoms; sore boobs, tiredness etc but I’m on cyclogest so was putting it down to the increased progesterone as I know they have the same symptoms as pregnancy.
