IVF / ICSI November

Anyone starting stims in November?

I started stims last night. I'm on a long protocol. Started in October with norethisterone and then Buserelin. This is my second IVF cycle.

First cycle I didn't take the Buserelin, had 8 eggs collected, 3 blasts, none normal (1 high level mosaic in the freezer)

I'm on a 2 cycles package, so hoping this one is the lucky one 🙂

@SamVan that sounds promising. So I'd it a FET you're doing? I didn't even make it to transfer last time, had two eggs, both fertilised but neither made it past day three

SamVan · 12/11/2024 00:17

@CakePigeon30 if we get a euploid we will do an fet later this month. I’m so sorry to hear about your last round. I hope they are able to tweak things and have a better outcome this month! How are you feeling about this round so far?

Ru19 · 12/11/2024 11:48

Hi all, would love to join too - I'm starting my second cycle at the end of this month (possibly start of Dec) in Prague. My last round in London ended in one failed fresh and a chemical after my FET in October. We are dealing with MFI and I have a low AMH.
Has anyone else been put on birth control in the weeks leading up? My clinic have suggested that it could help my follicles grow at a similar rate. Really hoping it leads to better results this time around

tpeas · 12/11/2024 18:34

@bubu24 that's exciting - hope all goes well with egg collection. Just got confirmed today that I start stims on Friday. Excited but nervous!
@CakePigeon30 when are you starting stims? Had my second prostap today, hope I don't get another lump with this one but probably can't be avoided 😅

CakePigeon30 · 12/11/2024 22:47

@tpeas my second prostrap injection is a week today and if the scan goes ok then I'll be starting my stims next Wed. When are you starting?

TheUmberPanda · 13/11/2024 07:11

Hello! Can I join? @SamVan I think we’re at a similar stage. Waiting on PGS results from a freeze all cycle last month. This is my first cycle. Sending positive vibes to you all!

SamVan · 13/11/2024 11:06

@TheUmberPanda hello! Ooh how exciting. Pgta still feels quite rare in the uk so I’m glad to have someone else waiting too! How long did your clinic say it would take?

Magix86 · 13/11/2024 13:30

Hi. Been following all the messages on here but not posted much as I'm still behind most of you 😅 hope everyone's doing OK.
I'm really hoping someone can put my mind at ease as I'm getting a bit anxious and probably completely overthinking things! It's my first time with IVF and on a short protocol. I'm on norethisterone for another 4 days then due to start stims on 23rd Nov. I have no scans booked in until 28th Nov, after 5 days of stims. Is this normal? I've read a lot of people commenting on Baseline scans before their stims starts....I've only had one scan at this clinic and it was on 3rd October. Was that too long ago? Should I have had another booked in before starting injections?

I'm also terrified of ovulating early, before I make it to egg collection or even before the first scan, and ending up with a cancelled cycle. Ive done tests in the past that have showed a really early ovulation, at times around CD8 or 9. My clinic don't seem too bothered about this but it's our only funded round and I can't bear the thought of it being cancelled if I ovulate early. Any guidance or advice will be super helpful, thank you 🙏

TheUmberPanda · 13/11/2024 13:39

@SamVan nice to have a cycle buddy! My clinic said 2 to 3 weeks. This Saturday will be 2 weeks so I’m going to be anxiously waiting for the phone call from them on! How about you?

TheUmberPanda · 13/11/2024 13:47

Hi @Magix86 just to say I am an early ovulator too - sometimes CD9 - and I was also terrified of ovulating before the egg collection but my clinic reassured me that it’s pretty rare and they give you drugs to stop that happening. I think different clinics take different approaches with the scans, although I completely understand why it’s making you feel freaked out, there’s so much anxiety and uncertainty about the whole process - can you call them to ask for reassurance or to try to book an additional scan?

Magix86 · 13/11/2024 13:55

Thanks @TheUmberPanda I did speak with a nurse at the clinic yesterday and asked if my scan could be a couple of days earlier. She tried to say that everything will be fine, and that the second injection to stop my ovulating should help control things - I just worried that it might be too late by then.
She did say I can call again tho nearer the time.

This might be a stupid question so sorry lol but when I have my bleed after stopping norethisterone that would be CD1? Even though its a timed bleed and not natural? If so then I think I'll see what day that arrives and hope to ask the clinic for a scan on what would be CD7 or 8. Hopefully the bleed will end up a couple days late and my first scheduled scan will be fine!

tpeas · 13/11/2024 14:44

@CakePigeon30 hope it all looks good for you to proceed - if so you're only a few days behind me - start stims this Fri. Not looking forward to all the jabs as I seem to bruise/puff up easily but that's part and parcel I suppose 😅

Cosyseason1234 · 13/11/2024 16:48

Hi all. I am first IVF cycle, stopped northesterone on Sunday and due to start stims tomorrow but still awaiting period. Hope everyone is doing well in these difficult but stressful times! The other November group is really helpful for advice. Xx

CakePigeon30 · 13/11/2024 17:44

@tpeas glad we on a similar timeline. Is this your first cycle can't remember? I was soooooo nervous about the injections first time around but they honestly weren't bad. I didn't bruise at all. Iced up the belly, squeezed a bit of skin and did it slowly.

CakePigeon30 · 13/11/2024 17:47

@Magix86 I have a scan before I start stims but think it's because I'm long protocol and the way my clinic does it my down regulation can start at any day of my cycle. I have to have a scan to check my lining is thin to start stims. I'm not sure what happens when you start on a set day of your cycle.

tpeas · 13/11/2024 17:56

@CakePigeon30 yes first time round for me. I think I'm going to get my partner to do them all - it was less painful when he did my first prostap compared to the nurse 😂
@Cosyseason1234 hello first cycler, and looks like our timings are similar. Hope you're finding things ok so far?

Cosyseason1234 · 13/11/2024 18:05

@tpeas I was vile on the northestorone but have always been vile on the pill so was expecting it 😂 hoping the stims tomorrow I am more pleasant 🤣 hope you are doing ok? Xx

Magix86 · 13/11/2024 18:47

@CakePigeon30 ah so that might explain it then! Thanks for sharing this 🙂 has put my mind at ease slightly. I'll probably message the clinic once I stop the norethisterone and just double check - will also ask again if there's any possibility of an earlier/additional scan. Thanks again

ivfjourneyandme · 13/11/2024 20:16

Starting when AF shows, just under 2 weeks. Feeling really disheartened today and feel it won’t work 😞

SamVan · 13/11/2024 21:13

@TheUmberPanda 2 weeks I was told so 25th November for me. Now waiting for my period to start my meds for fet on the assumption we get at least one. I’m so nervous all will be abnormal. And I find out my results only a week before transfer so I hope there won’t be any delays!

TheUmberPanda · 14/11/2024 07:51

@SamVan that’s so exciting that you’ll be doing a transfer so soon! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! We’re waiting on results from this round before deciding on next steps. I’m terrified about not getting any euploid too. All the waiting and uncertainty is so tough!

tpeas · 15/11/2024 17:17

@Cosyseason1234 did you start your stims yesterday in the end? I'm going to take my first dose this eve, feeling a bit nervous about this next stage! But hoping my headaches will start to go away now. Are you on Meriofert for it?

Hope all is going well for everyone else - if any more experienced have words of wisdom for the stim phase let me know!

bubu24 · 15/11/2024 18:00

@tpeas hope all goes well tonight. It's normal to feel a bit nervous but you'll probably find it's not as bad as you think.

I was hoping I would trigger tonight but I'm still on stims. Going for another scan tomorrow morning. Today is day 12 of stims. Last cycle on the short protocol it was 9 and same high dose of medication but obviously on long protocol they suppress your ovaries so there's no estrogen produced naturally I guess...
I hope we get more eggs this time but we'll see

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Thanks @bubu24 , best of luck for your egg collection when it comes!

Cosyseason1234 · 15/11/2024 18:43

@tpeas i started today in the end as wasn’t full flow yesterday. I just wanted it done and did it at 5pm, feeling fine so far. I am on 150U of meriofert, what dose are you on? Good luck you got this!
