FET June 2024

Hi,

Is anyone else planning on a FET in June? ☺️

I had my second cycle of ICSI in April and now have 8 frozen embryos.

I didn’t have a fresh transfer in April as there was some fluid left in my endometrium from ivf medication. I thought it best to wait till June so by then my body will be fully recovered.

🤞

Hi all! Don't know if this group is still going but if it is can I join? I'm also doing a modified natural cycle with a transfer planned this Saturday. It's a 5 day blast and I've just started progesterone today. I have 8 year old twins from our first ICSI round and this is my second attempt at a FET. First one two years ago ended in miscarriage.
I'm jumping from 'never going to work' to planning a whole future baby and my head is all over the place. How are you all doing?

Sierra26 · 10/06/2024 13:14

I’m STILL waiting for period to start - first 14 day luteal phase I’ve had in years 😂 temp is coming down tho so reckon tomos is the day.

Good luck @chillipopcorn1 ! Sorry to hear about your loss two years ago ❤️ are you adjusting the protocol at all this time?

chillipopcorn1 · 10/06/2024 13:49

Hi Sierra!
God the waiting in this IVf game is awful isn't it?! Good luck for your cycle starting asap! I have changed protocol but that's a personal decision to do a natural cycle. I imagine the problem last time was an aneuploid embryo - we considered PGT but financially it's another big hit.

Tha97 · 10/06/2024 13:52

Hi, hope you don’t mind me joining - I am about to start ivf and I wondered if you could help me understand any reasons for doing fresh vs elective freezing? My doctor has given me all the info but there’s no medical reasons currently for me to do one over the other. I wondered if anyone with experience could help. Thank you

chillipopcorn1 · 10/06/2024 13:56

Hi Tha!
I think frozen embryos have a slightly higher success rate statistically. This could be that the ones who have been frozen and survive defrosting are stronger, or that people can choose to conduct genetic testing on frozen embryos which enables them to choose the right ones to put back. However, I think on an individual level there's no real reason to wait if you don't want to. My twins were born from my fresh cycle Smile

Sherr33 · 10/06/2024 15:36

Welcome @chillipopcorn1 @Tha97

I am currently waiting to have my embryo transferred. I feel so sick with nerves.

Any advise and tips posttransfer welcome

Congratulations on your twins! And good luck with this transfer.

Sherr33 · 10/06/2024 16:32

Update: I had one embryo which didn't survive the thaw. However, I have the next best on board 🙏🙏 hoping and praying it sticks

lemonyfox · 10/06/2024 16:38

Can I join please?

I recognise a handful of names from another thread I'm on too, but I'm all giddy and want to get involved!

Background. I have a 3yo already but I've had 3 ectopics since we had him and I've had both tubes removed now. Been trying 18m in total now, which is only 5 mins in comparison to some ladies I know but christ it's been an intense 18m with lots of heartache and surgeries and recoveries.

Had egg collection in April and we amazingly have 14 embryos in the freezer which we never expected. I have PCOS so I really expected to have poor egg quality.

I've picked up my FET meds today! I'm so excited. On progynova 3x daily then will add in cyclogest and lubion after my lining scan on 21st. Provisionally booked in for our first embryo transfer on the 27th!!

I'm really excited, not even naively expecting it to work first time but just excited for PROGRESS. Something is actually happening!

Good luck everyone! X

Anna531 · 10/06/2024 16:50

Welcome @chillipopcorn1 and @Tha97 and @lemonyfox

@Sierra26 FC for tomorrow!! 🤞🏽🤞🏽

@Tha97 i haven’t much experience of fresh to advise you, we had to do a freeze all, the Dr did say it was good to let my body calm down from all the hormones but I had OHSS. I would ask the wait time between, some clinics are super quick but I had to wait from collection in Jan to now for FET and if that’s the case and if I had a few embryos I would’ve elected for fresh then frozen because the wait doing nothing has been a bit of a torture.

@Sherr33 amazing news!!!!!!!! Let it be a sticky sticky embaby!!!!!!!!

I had my transfer last Tuesday night. This will be our first child if all goes well. We’re very very early yet and I’ve never had the slightest glimpse of 2 lines….but we had a positive this morning!!
wee bubba is doing well, I just couldn’t wait to Sunday to test.

lemonyfox · 10/06/2024 16:57

Fingers crossed @Sherr33! When's your official test date?

lemonyfox · 10/06/2024 17:20

@Anna531 Congrats!!!

Hollielouise · 10/06/2024 17:31

Welcome @lemonyfox 👋🏼 I'm on a very similar position! I have a 3y old, PCOS and 12 frozen embryos ☺️. I started Progynova x4 a day on Friday and have transfer penciled in on the 21st. First monitoring scan is this Friday!

Trying not to expect too much first time but glad we are doing something too x

Natty2 · 10/06/2024 17:54

So much to catch up on!

@Anna531 that's amazing news! tentative congrats!! I kind of woke up with a deflated feeling that it hasn't worked and feel like af is coming. Only one day behind you but feel far too scared to early test!

@Sherr33 hope all went well today, good luck for your tww!

@Serendipity24 hope your scan went well today?

@chillipopcorn1 welcome, hope all goes well this Saturday. I know what you mean about your mind flipping between outcomes. I'm only 5dp5dt today and I just feel like after 2.5yrs ttc I'll never see that bfp, but here's to hoping!

@lemonyfox welcome! Best of luck with your cycle

@Tha97 I ended up on freeze all due to high progesterone first time and then risk of OHSS second. This is my first ever transfer, so I had no choice for frozen, but it's allowed my body time to hopefully rest and recover and I think there's a slightly higher success rate for frozen for that reason. Good luck!!

lemonyfox · 10/06/2024 17:54

@Hollielouise very similar then! How have you been feeling on progynova?

Sherr33 · 10/06/2024 18:02

I'm so mad at myself I had right dramas after my transfer in the way home I needed a wee so badly and there was no where to stop and we wete still half hour out. I actually started bawling my eyes out because I couldn't hold it any longer and starred getting pains in my tummy. My partner drove like a mad man to get us to his parents which was closer than getting home so zoomed there. Now I'm finally on my way home. All the plans to go home rest and watch something funny went out the window. So mad at myself

Sherr33 · 10/06/2024 18:03

My OTD is 20th of June but I'm tempted to test this Sunday. Would this be too early?

Sherr33 · 10/06/2024 18:24

@Anna531 congratulations. How have you found this whole cycle? What was your protocol?

Anna531 · 10/06/2024 20:51

@natty no period as yet so you’re very much still in and I’m sending all the positive energy and prayers your way x
I don’t necessarily recommend testing early I’m just the type who needs to know and a negative on Sunday would hurt me too much more.

@Sherr33 don’t worry- we should’ve watched something light hearted but when we got in after our transfer DP wanted to watch a documentary about Rob Burrows and I cried the whole way through it.
I don’t know about testing early it’s a personal choice. Maybe someone else knows the likelihood of accuracy.
I've found the cycle fine, was just excited to get started but dreading throughout if it doesn’t work.
I have PCOS, medicated cycle, was a gradual build up of progynova but been on four a day for a while which I took two in the morning and two at lunch because they gave me nausea at the higher dose. Three cyclogest across the day. I’ve had cramps and symptoms but I notice I haven’t any in the mornings when it’s the longest since I last medicated so I think they’re all down to medication.

Oh no. I would have been bawling my eyes out! I've haven't enjoyed this cycle, not that anyone would enjoy it, but it was harder than my fresh cycle. There were moments I just wanted to stop but here we are 😂

Fingers crossed @Sherr33! When's your official test date?

That would be on the 20th of this month. Seems an age away

amkw · 11/06/2024 07:21

@Sherr33 Fingers crossed for you! Hope this 2ww goes quickly for you!!

@Anna531 Woo, congratulations!! Our first positive on this thread! ❤️

I said my period had arrived on Friday night but it actually hasn’t…I had slight twitches so I thought I had come on but when I checked I actually hadn’t. 😅 I should come on any minute though…hurry up!!

@Anna531 tentative congratulations! Must be wonderful seeing those lines for the first time - I’m dreaming of that day!

@Sherr33 take it easy today, hope the wait flies by for you

My period finally started today so I’m back in the game! Progynova 6mg per day + ganirelix in evening for a week. Estimating first lining scan next week on 19th or 21st, then transferring approx 2 weeks from now.

Ive decided to start worrying about the embryo not surviving the thaw… does anyone have any idea how often that happens?

@Sierra26 Yay. I’m praying I come on today as it’s 30 days today and I’m usually 28/29.

It’s fairly uncommon for an embryo not to thaw I think. Not sure about actual statistics though.

@amkw hopimg today is the day for you!

I think it’s because we have to sign a form saying we understand they might not survive etc, there’s no escaping the worry during all of this 😂

Sherr33 · 11/06/2024 09:43

@Sierra26 how many embryos do you have frozen? I didn't get a call once my transfer was booked so took that as good news to say atleast one was ready to be transferred. When I got to the transfer room the embryologist told me that one did survive the thaw something about the cells not expanding I'm not 100% what she said but she said I had one that had thawed and that's what they transferred.
