Hi, couldn't see a thread for June yet so thought I would start one.

I'm on long protocol so actually starting down regulation on 28th May, egg collection not scheduled in until 8th July.

I am on NHS and this will be my first round. Was referred less than a year ago now and have managed to loose 2 and a half stone to get my BMI down.

Anyone else due to start around June?

Thank you! It's so reassuring that other people feel this way too, even though I wish lots of calmness on you all of course! Yeah I think because this will be my first round of IVF I'm just very anxious of the unknown. I'm an anxious person anyway so this all feels like a lot. I think I have some counselling sessions included in this NHS funded cycle (recap: same sex couple that self funded 6 IUI rounds) so I'll try and make use of those if possible. I went to one during the final IUI cycle and just cried on the poor therapist for most of the hour (I was PMSing and pretty sure that attempt hadn't worked and I was right!).

Yeah I'll be on overleap for this first cycle, not been on it before. I was on gonal f for our last two IUI cycles which were medicated.

Oh blimey I hope you're as okay as you can be! Did you get many eggs then with the OHSS? Yeah sounds like a good decision so that you can be in the best position for the transfer. Was that advised or just given as an option? What was the egg collection like? Weirdly I had a dream last night where I was being sedated and they were starting the collection.

@strawberrylaces12 i think everyone feels it. If you go in totally chill you’re basically a god 😂 I suffer with anxiety a lot too so I totally get how you feel and question everything. I took on the counselling too after my miscarriage and cried the full hour too 😂🙈 I defo recommend it though if you’re struggling. Think you get 3 x sessions free per cycle.

I was on ovaleap for my first round and was on 112.5iu too it’s handy it’s a pen rather than having to mix vials and stuff. Doesn’t hurt either.

yeah I got 27 eggs, so was borderline for a fresh anyway but I wanted to do one, but elected not to in the end as I just wasn’t up to it and my lining wasn’t as good as it gets in a frozen so seemed a no brainer. I don’t remember any of the egg collection. Just remember the room spinning as I was going under ans then waking when it was done.

@GCS34 sad news for me, neither of my eggs made it so transfer was cancelled. Was literally in car on way when they phoned. Follow up appointment 19th August

Really sorry to hear that so disappointing hopefully they'll have more info or a plan at your follow up!

Had my scan and plan is for egg collection Thursday so trigger tonight hoping for better quality eggs than last time so I get something to transfer!

@strawberrylaces12 i had my collection on day 16 of my cycle. I panicked that I had ovulated early too as I had ovulated very quickly on iui but all was fine in the end! I think worrying all the eggs have ovulated early is a very common fear but it’s very rare on an antagonist cycle. I was on between 75 62 to 150 gonal f (it fluctuated). Good luck for your round!

Really helpful info thank you! 😊

@Toon49 ooooo good luck hun. What was the last count? My collection / embryos were SO much different this round to my last. Like two different people. So I hope yours is the same. X

6 on right 7 on left although some a bit small hoping they'll catch up. Last time I had alot of empty follicles so hoping there's less this time. Although last time nearly all follicles were on the left and only had 1 or two on the right so hoping it's a good sign they're more even this time! Fingers crossed for everyone!

Cesas · 16/07/2024 11:50

Just thought I'd join in too if that's okay. I'm completing my first round of IVF abd Im on day 13 of stims having another scan tomorrow. I have 7 follicles on my left side (one will probably be too big and one other too small) and unfortunately nothing on my right has I've had surgery on it back in march due to endometriosis. Hoping for collection on Friday! But feel really nervous about what numbers will look like over the next week.

Hope everyone is doing okay, it's a full on process!

SamVan · 16/07/2024 12:14

@CakePigeon30 I missed your message yesterday. Heartbroken for you. I hope they can figure out what went wrong and hope you’re doing as well as you can be ❤️

@Cesas welcome to the group. It is indeed a full on process, and good luck for your egg collection!

Haha yeah I wish I was chill. I feel like I'd be more chill if I didn't have to work alongside it all too. But just doing the best I can given the situation!

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage that must have been so hard 😔 Yeah I think I'll try and get a session booked in soon as I've had some sleepless nights worrying about it all (mostly worrying about fitting it in around work really) and I need make sure I'm getting my rest!

Yeah I'm going to a wedding this weekend down on the south coast, we're staying for a few days, and I'll likely need to start the meds around then 😅 but at least it's all in one pen!

Wow 27 eggs is so good! What tends to be the fertilisation rate and rate of getting to day 5?

Toon49 · 18/07/2024 10:47

Egg collection today, 11 collected now to wait and see what happens next! All similar to last time which failed miserably so not getting our hopes up yet!

@Toon49 fingers crossed for you!!! You deserve it after all the delays x

Clairehbear · 19/07/2024 10:56

So after our scan on Wednesday I need a few days to process. Only 1 follicle growing. The other one that was on the right had only grown by like 0.5mm so the good one was at 18mm and the other one was only between 9-9.5mm. So egg collection has been cancelled. They have cancelled this cycle which is devastating cause this was our last go! The midwife who scanned me said that even when she was looking she couldn’t even see any that would be potential follicles for next month!

We are absolutely heartbroken and trying to come to terms with it all.

good luck to everyone

SamVan · 19/07/2024 11:40

@Clairehbear I’m so sorry to hear this and my heart is breaking for you. Please do take care of yourself and I hope you can go ahead with another round soon.

@SamVan thanks but this was our last go unfortunately.

SamVan · 19/07/2024 15:45

@Clairehbear oh I’m sorry I didn’t realize this counted. I am doubly sorry and hope you’re doing as well as can be xx thinking of you ❤️

SlinkMcSlink · 19/07/2024 16:44

@Clairehbear That’s so crap!! I’m sorry you’re going through this. There aren’t any words. Do what you need to do to process it. Can’t even imagine the pain that you must be feeling right now.

@Clairehbear so sorry to read this. I really had so much hope and faith in this last cycle for you. I so wanted it to work. I can completely understand how devastated you are. Especially when you’ve reached your red line.
if you’ve not already, I’d recommend the counselling you get through the clinic included. Sometimes just crying at someone can help.

sending love and when you’re ready, we’d love to keep in touch on your next step. Take it easy this weekend. X

CakePigeon30 · 20/07/2024 09:03

@Clairehbear so so sorry to hear this. We're you NHS? I always thought they had to reach egg collection for it to count as a cycle, although I am no expert.

Had my day 3 call yesterday and have an 8 cell and a 6 cell, plus 2x 5 cells which could catch up. Not as good as they'd expect for my age/health but better than last time just hoping one makes it to blastocyst!

@Toon49 great news! Glad to hear you have an 8 and a 6 cell. I think studies say that an 8 cell on day 3 has the highest chance of live birth, so fingers crossed for you!!

SamVan · 22/07/2024 15:31

I just had my day 9 scan for my natural modified fet. 12.5 womb lining (not sure if too thick?) and a 12mm follicle. I’m only able to do transfers on weekdays which means I can only trigger on a weekday but at the rate it’s growing that’ll probably be a weekend. Just my luck!! So might end up missing this month. Sigh.

A huge pigeon shat on my head over the weekend. It was violent, excessive and traumatizing, but allegedly good luck so I’m hoping for the best this week!! And crossing my fingers I haven’t picked up some awful disease from the poo 😅

@Toon49 best of luck with your day 5 call! My clinic didn’t tell me my day 3 results at all but my day 5 wasn’t as good as I hoped based on my egg and egg count either. It’s disappointing but a lot of people have success with just one and I think usually have better results second go. Crossing all my fingers for you!

Thank you that's frustrating as really limits what days you can have collection for a fresh transfer! Are you on medication as seems a waste to cancel your whole cycle?
Yes we didn't get any updates last time on day 3 but I think they're trying to be extra nice and reassuring after we got nothing to transfer last time which is helpful so we're a bit more prepared!

SamVan · 22/07/2024 15:52

@Toon49 I’m doing a natural modified frozen embryo transfer so no stims or any medication until the trigger. I knew it was a risk and they did try to push me to a medicated cycle. But I didn’t want to take more medication than necessary especially as I know I struggle with progesterone and I was thinking if they don’t let me go straight to a second transfer if this fails, then I might go to a private clinic and do another round of egg collection rather than waste a month. Right now I’m just hoping my follicle grows fast enough to trigger in Friday so we can at least do one transfer!

SlinkMcSlink · 22/07/2024 16:46

@SamVan Can you give any more information about modified cycle like what days you’ve had to take anything and what cycle day is transfer? Looking on Google is no good whatsoever.

x

SamVan · 22/07/2024 18:27

@SlinkMcSlink im not taking anything on my natural modified cycle atm. It’s basically a natural cycle, but you add an hcg shot to make sure you know exactly when you ovulate. There’s no set number of days it just depends on how fast your lining takes to thicken and your follicle takes to grow. My clinic says they trigger when lining is at least 8mm and follicle is 18mm. Every clinic does it differently - some add progesterone and letrazole and some clinics seem to just do fully medicated cycles. The benefit is less medication - no estrogen and just supplementary progesterone (some omit this). But the issue is timing is a lot harder especially for me as I can only do transfers on weekdays.
