Hi, couldn't see a thread for June yet so thought I would start one.

I'm on long protocol so actually starting down regulation on 28th May, egg collection not scheduled in until 8th July.

I am on NHS and this will be my first round. Was referred less than a year ago now and have managed to loose 2 and a half stone to get my BMI down.

Anyone else due to start around June?

@SamVan argghhh I’m sad now. In my head I was thinking I’d be having a transfer by the end of August. 😭

SlinkMcSlink · 11/07/2024 16:56

I’m going to hope that from now until my next period that I magically become naturally pregnant as I’m not on any drugs at the moment. We’ve been trying for years and nothing but feels like a bit of pressure is off just because there’s some in the freezer haha

@FlutteryButtery2 feel fine, actually been at work lol.

Found out both eggs fertilised so that's good news. Transfer on Monday l.

@CakePigeon30 that's great news!! Come on little ones - you got this! Will they update you again between now and then?

Clairehbear · 11/07/2024 18:06

@CakePigeon30 thats amazing news I’m sure your so glad!! Good luck for transfer on Monday!!

I have my first scan tomorrow to see if there is follicles growing. I’m so so nervous. Have to get up at 5:30 cause we have to be there for 8am 🙈 and it takes an hour and a half so not looking forward to that lol 😂

I am def so much more anxious this time round.

SamVan · 11/07/2024 18:20

@SlinkMcSlink i don’t think what I said should affect your end of August timeline at all? Most of that time is after your transfer! Sorry if it wasn’t clear ❤️

SlinkMcSlink · 11/07/2024 16:51

@SamVan 8-12 weeks of medication? 😱😱😱😱

@SlinkMcSlink because I had a miscarriage, id have to carry on meds until 16 weeks if we were successful 🙈 but tbh it’s just tablets for estrogen and pessaries for progesterone that you just kinda get immune to so not that bad. I’d keep them going til birth if it meant for a baby tbh. You don’t have to be on the medication for that amount of time in order to get to transfer btw. This is after. Think that’s possibly where you got confused? Glad you’re feeling better since your period.

re protocol for FET, you start the estrogen tablets on the first day of full flow of your period. And carry on for 2 weeks then 5 days of progesterone and transfer is ok the 5th day so approx 2.5 weeks from the first day of your period. Does that help?

SlinkMcSlink · 11/07/2024 20:00

@GCS34 yes it does! Medication in itself isn’t the problem. That’s when you’re just talking about medicine and pessaries but I thought it meant more of those needles that made me so bloated that I couldn’t poo and had moderate OHSS. I can’t even imagine what it would get like for severe ohss. Scared me to death tbh.

If I have to do it estrogen tablets from period day 1 then that pushes my transfer well into September because my period is due around the 8th next month. But my appointment isn’t until the 12th. I’m sure they do this on purpose in terms of booking appointments. I’m sounding so impatient here. Sorry guys!!

@SlinkMcSlink oh no it’s literally just tablets. It’s HRT basically and for me (as I have a historically poor lining) had 6 estrogen tablets a day. Just 2 with each meal. And they don’t really affect you - they’re just normal hormones that you’d get in your usual cycle so it’s no different. Oh bless you. The bloat is horrendous. I’m feeling really sore and in a fair bit of pain this afternoon from yesterday. And the bloat is something else! It’s just horrible isn’t it?

would you not be going off your July period or are they saying August? And is the appointment on the 12th August to discuss your FET protocol? You’re not at all. We all want to be pregnant like yesterday

SlinkMcSlink · 11/07/2024 20:16

@GCS34 My appointment isn’t until 12th August. I was just thinking around 19-21 days after that I could have my transfer. You sound like you know what you’re talking about. Do they give you a reason why you have a thin lining?

SlinkMcSlink · 11/07/2024 20:20

Also after digesting all the information a bit more I’m leaning towards natural more now. It’s a hard decision!

@SlinkMcSlink if it’s any consolation, I think I’ll be with you with a FET in August as my lining is being terrible and had gone down when in theatre yesterday 🤷‍♀️ It contracts and can measure small if you catch it contracted, so they’re measuring me on Saturday to see if I can transfer but I’m expecting to do a freeze all and be on a transfer end of aug / sept with you.

some women just do apparently. I have no periods so my hormones are just reeeeeeally low naturally. So it is just hard for it to thicken. I get to 7-7.5mm on a medicated, and they want 6.5mm and over for a frozen so it’s fine, but fresh is higher and mine had gone down. So much to contend with!

SamVan · 11/07/2024 22:10

@SlinkMcSlink sorry for causing confusion! What @GCS34 says is right. Also @SlinkMcSlink you might make it for August as the period after ivf is often a bit delayed.

SlinkMcSlink · 11/07/2024 22:25

@samvan really? I didn’t know that about the next period maybe coming later. About how much later? Sorry ladies I keep asking so many questions as if you were my nurses😂.

SamVan · 11/07/2024 22:29

@SlinkMcSlink anecdotally based on friends who have done it is a few days to a week or two later. I did find one study which showed the cycle after egg collection is on average about 2 days longer when going down some research rabbit hole 😂 everyone’s different though so it’s impossible to know.

LunaPuggies22 · 12/07/2024 10:02

Good morning everyone.
How are you all? I need to catch up on 8/9 pages.
I had my Prostap injection earlier this week - and I’ve felt a bit groggy since. Hopefully my ovaries will be having a little snooze for the next 2 weeks then I’ll be starting my stims.
Going to our caravan for the weekend to have a bit of R&R so looking forward to that.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

@SlinkMcSlink Throw in my 2p's worth. I have had 5 friends (yeah I know, I must attract them!) all have FET's and they all had their period in or around the same time - give or take maybe 2 days say. As you start stims off the start of your period, your period shouldn't be affected.

I can't comment though not having natural periods, all I can say is what happened to them. Hope that reassures you 😘

Clairehbear · 12/07/2024 13:38

so had my scan this morning. Only have 2 follicles growing on my right ovary. And there is a 1mm one on my left so not looking too good. At this point last time I had 2 follicles on both ovaries so feeling very defeated this time round.

SlinkMcSlink · 12/07/2024 17:45

@Clairehbear Hope they’re just off to a slow start for you. It’s a frustrating process.

Clairehbear · 13/07/2024 14:29

@SlinkMcSlink its so frustrating because last time at the first scan there was more. This is our last chance so it’s just very hard to take if I don’t even get an egg this time. Super anxious for the 2nd scan on Monday now

SamVan · 13/07/2024 15:10

@Clairehbear sorry there aren’t that many at the moment. My follicle numbers increased each scan so I hope some more pop up for your by Monday.

CakePigeon30 · 14/07/2024 13:45

@Clairehbear fingers crossed for Monday

@Clairehbear i think the first scan is always a bit uninspiring and doesn’t really quantify how much you’ll actually get but I 10000% get your anxiety. It’s an awful journey but you’re doing so well and so inspiring to just keep pushing.
you're a warrior. 🤍

My AMH is extremely low so the chances of getting many follicles is really low so I’m not too hopeful it’s just such a hard journey!! Thanks

Thank you @GCS34 im def not hopefully for any more follicles. I have an extremely low AMH so the fact we got like 4-5 follicles last time was amazing however we only got 2 eggs and only 1 mature so I’m not too hopeful this time I don’t think too many more are going to pop up over the weekend.
It’s just so hard cause this is our last go and then it will be looking at donor eggs which is hard to get my head round! And if that’s the case it will be after our wedding next year

@Clairehbear ah I’m sorry you have low AMH to contend with. I think it’s SO much harder when it’s the female with the issues. Endo, pcos, low reserve, hypothyroidism, blocked tubes etc is so hard to manage and I think it makes it super hard for us to have to go through treatment. I mean all infertility is hard to go through but I feel it’s harder to get through the hurdles sometimes when you’re the carrier.

i really do hope you have a good scan tomorrow. What time are you in? Would your clinic collect if there were 2 follicles or do they have a minimum?
