Hi, couldn't see a thread for June yet so thought I would start one.

I'm on long protocol so actually starting down regulation on 28th May, egg collection not scheduled in until 8th July.

I am on NHS and this will be my first round. Was referred less than a year ago now and have managed to loose 2 and a half stone to get my BMI down.

Anyone else due to start around June?

@FlutteryButtery2 where do you go for your facial reflexology? I’m keen to try it I do love a face massage.

@GCS34 friday will be day 12 for me!! So collection will be day 15. I’m really hoping we get a few embryos in the bank yes :) but I have a bit of anxiety about not using/destroying embryos too so I hope we don’t get more than we need as well!

i think it’s nice your husband is helping you with injecting! Tbh I wouldn’t trust mine and his butter fingers but I do get him to gather the ice for me and cook breakfast whilst I’m doing it so he can feel involved 😂really their contribution is quite small and easy! Don’t forget to make sure they time their jizz collection well. I think the day before you think you will trigger would be best? The nurse said to do it the day of trigger but that might be less than 48 hours of build up.

@FlutteryButtery2 Oh subway is a GREAT shout!! And conveniently there is one on the way home from the clinic 😏There's also a McDonalds. Obviously have to have the obligatory MCD fries after right? 😉Also just saw you said you live in Lincolnshire - I am in Nottingham 😃Literally round the corner 🤗This is the website for Melanie btw: https://melaniebrownnutrition.com/

@SamVan Haha I do mine in my thigh / bum - don't feel a thing. I've always done it there. I did it in my belly once and it flipping wrecked, so defs not doing that! I do lubion in the thigh too.

Ahhh cool, hopefully they allow you to trigger Saturday for Monday collection - is that the plan they've said? I think If I was lucky enough to have my family from my embryos and still have one left, I would just pay for it for the rest of my life so I don't have to make a decision 😂But I can't even think that far ahead - after last time think I have embryo PTSD.

Yeah I can't remember what they told us last time, think it was 4 days but they'll tell me in all my documents when it nears that time. I suspect we'll trigger monday / tuesday but we'll see! Funny story actually, last year my husband did his 'thing', and then kicked the cup over and spilt half of it! 😂Honestly the whole clinic found out about that car crash! 🙈

Update. 12 eggs have been fertilised and they are ringing me back on Saturday for an update then Tuesday.

SamVan · 04/07/2024 13:35

@SlinkMcSlink what lovely news for you! How do you feel now ?

@GCS34 ooh I’ve not tried it there. I asked my clinic but they recommended just tummy. It hurts more some parts of the tummy than others I’ve realized. I can imagine having embryo ptsd after a failed round, this process is hard. I hope this time it’s different for you.

your husband kicking it over sounds totally like what my husband would do. I’m glad it wasn’t all of it and you had enough. My clinic told us he could do it at home before coming in on collection day but I have a strong preference for him doing it in the clinic! Less scope for things going wrong like leaving it on the train. 😂

FlutteryButtery2 · 04/07/2024 13:54

@GCS34 i went to a clinic in nottingham to start with but didn’t get past the scans as didn’t gel with them
Same with our clinic on way home there’s mcds subway costa and some random kebab shop all in the same industrial park 😂
Thank you I’ve listened to a podcast she did with another podcaster very interesting! Will definitely discuss with OH and see what he thinks we could both do with a better diet as we’ve got a bit lapse recently 😂😬

@SlinkMcSlink thats amazing well done!

FlutteryButtery2 · 04/07/2024 07:48

@GCS34 @GraciousProtea Thank you both for your suggestions, I shall have a look

Ive a bad relationship with food and am a binge eater by nature and after egg collection I was so poorly all I ate was bread and jam and ginger biscuits with orange juice or ribena 😂 sort of carried it on really. Carbs are my enemy unfortunately

Being back in the gym and running has lifted my mood and gotten me back into wanting to do things, then of course there’s planning the wedding, still haven’t set a date yet

@SamVan its the same as foot reflexology, my lady says she’s had better results with the face when it comes to issues with reproductive system - I guess we’ll find out!

I am absolutely the same!! Have been trying to stay quite focussed on being active and moving but have no idea what the hormones will do to me. I am starting my Ovaleap tomorrow.
I think just try and focus on nutrition and listen to what your body needs, often that will be carbs!

GraciousProtea · 04/07/2024 16:08

SamVan · 04/07/2024 09:22

@GraciousProtea where do you do your feet reflexology? Is it at zita west too? Thank you I am in two minds about visiting family as sometimes they harass me about when I’m having kids (they don’t know about the ivf) and I don’t want to snap at anyone.

@FlutteryButtery2 where do you get face reflexology done? I found some clinics on Harley street but no idea if they are any good. Totally get you on the carbs they are my comfort food! And comfort is what you need after a stressful procedure. Do you know if we can exercise during stims? I’ve stopped except for walking and light weights at home which is getting me a bit down but I wasn’t sure if it would do more harm than good.

I am in Cambridgeshire and found a lady , Donna, from Heart Centre Healing, for reflexology. Going tomorrow for my first one.
also going to do acupuncture throughout…kind off fell like I don’t want to not do anything!
I completely get you about the family, it can be so complicated. We have made the decision to tell all our close people and are just managing boundaries with the message of please don’t keep asking, we will tell you when we want to.
But it can be so exhausting and it is so important to maintain calm in your life!

On your exercise question, you can continue with any exercise you have been doing previously as your body is use to them and it will not add any stress.

@FlutteryButtery2 Oh yes I remember you saying. Fortunately I'm not at that one - I am at Nurture Fertility who are awesome. Haha god that sounds like a dangerous retail park!! I would defo have a mcd's with a mcflurry and maybe a subway cookie for dessert #2 (i'm a sugar fiend!)

I think she is great - I've listened to a few podcasts with her. She talks a lot about low inflammation diet which is what I am doing atm. Oh it is so easy to just say 'f* it' but takes a lot more to turn it around. I guess short term pain for long term gain and there is an end date, which I always think helps - you have a target, and then come egg collection just go mental and do what you want hahaha.

@SamVan it certainly doesn't hurt as much! Yeah major embryo ptsd, and with the next transfer being the 6th, I just have lost my head with it. Just hoping we get somewhere this time, so for me, I can't imagine having any left after as I had 5 to go through 5 and still nothing, so I can't think too far in advance atm. Thank you darling - me too! 😘

Hows your tum feeling today? I'm really struggling with the aching and pulling - so many nerves are being pressed on right now! She said my ovaries are the size of satusumas which was a delightful thought 😂how do you feel?
Oh yes defo do in clinic, plus I want them to be as uncomfortable as us, so they can feel awkward in the wank room for a bit 😂Horrible wife.

CakePigeon30 · 04/07/2024 17:29

@SlinkMcSlink so pleased for you

@SamVan ours also lets you do it at home but we are going to do the clinic. It has to be done within a certain time frame at home then kept warm till the clinic which I also think is a bit stressful!

Exercise wise I was told no high impact exercise
which is pretty much all my exercise out - running, riding and weight lifting 😂
I stopped riding 9 days before EC
and think I did a gym session once in the week before EC but stopped running before stims
to be honest I felt like I could keep going but didn’t want to mess up my already messed up system 😂

SamVan · 04/07/2024 18:00

@GCS34 you poor thing. It’s so hard with not knowing how many you’ll need and the stats are just meaningless tbh as everyone is different.

I am feeling good today! I’ve just been eating non stop I’m soooo hungry. Two lunches then tea! I was told I’m not allowed to lose any weight or I’ll lose my funding so I’m using that as an excuse to stuff my face. I don’t feel any pulling or anything which I’m surprised by as I was feeling it more at the start. I hope they haven’t ovulated. I’ve got incredibly sore boobs and nipples and I’m still creating ewcm like crazy 😂 I’m sorry your acheing and pulling is bad! Size of satsumas is huge! How many do you have in there?! They must be getting quite big already if you’re feeling it so much. I hope that means a good haul for you.

lol at wanting them to suffer. I must admit I do have some sadistic desire to poke him with the fyremadel needle just so he knows what I’m going through 😂 I haven’t, of course. Having the chance to relax in a room and jerk off hardly seems like punishment. I think my husband doesn’t mind it at all and personally I’d gladly do that over what we have to do.

@FlutteryButtery2 thanks for the exercise tips! I was worried about ovarian torsion which is why I held off but it’s good to know! I’m gonna start again right after collection :) I think your plan to take it easy is the right one! It’s just two weeks so it’s good to just let your body focus on making those eggs well.

@CakePigeon30 agreed! Why complicate things by having to transport it unless he has performance anxiety.

@SamVan we’ll get there 🥰 I’m very optimistic as a person but yeah. Look forward not back is my plan with this round and don’t compare so that’s what I’m trying! 😬🙈

so glad you’re feeling good today! Do you have a low BMI then for them to say you can’t lose weight? My bmi is 20, so bang in the middle really. I said to my consultant I worried my weight was too low and should I gain and he told me to get a grip and don’t do it 😂 so I’m just kinda sitting the same weight. I have gained half a KG since stims from the fluid, but it’s not really real I don’t think! That’s great you’re not feeling anything now. Maybe your body’s got used to it. I am not as bad as yesterday but think that’s cuz I went to the ‘loo’ properly today fully, so there’s more space in there now 😂😂 I think there’s about 30 total, 15 at the mature size and another 15 hanging out a bit smaller. We’ll see tomorrow what the latest scores on the doors are. What time is your appointment?

hahaha I do sometimes want to do the same - especially given his ear infection moaning - was your husband a total wimp with the screening bloods before you started too?! And I agree - provided he doesn’t kick it over again, least they can do is have a bit of self love while we’re in theatre. We do get the magic drugs tho for collection which is always a treat, so they miss out on that! 😏

@FlutteryButtery2 I was told anything twisty! So anything that you change direction lots like running / team sport. I haven’t done any since stimming - just walking 10k steps a day and I did yoga the other day. That’s it. Have you enjoyed being back doing it again now? Did you ride in the TWW or not?

@GraciousProtea i think you asked about side effects with ovaleap - I had it last year and didn’t really get any apart from usual aches from my ovaries growing which is a symptom of the outcome rather than the drug. My friend has headaches when she had ovaleap tho so maybe that’s one you may get?

SamVan · 04/07/2024 19:15

@GCS34 yeah my bmi is 18.7 but they round to the nearest whole number. I was told I can’t drop below 18.5. No chance of that happening at the rate I’m going 😂 30 total and 15 already mature size is amazing! No wonder you’re feeling it.

my appointment is at 9am - brutal. When is yours? It always affects my fyremadel shots. Do u know if we have to take fyremadel on the dot? I’ve always done it within the hour but I’m worried as ovulation is getting more likely as time goes on.

he was a wimp with the bloods but tbf they did some kinda hatchet job on him and half his forearm was bruised and still is over two weeks later.

i guess even if they kick it over they can probably get another one out asap so it’s not the end of the world! They don’t need that many sperm.

SlinkMcSlink · 04/07/2024 19:42

I’m feeling okay. Just really tired. Not sure if it was the best move to go into work today as I wasn’t really all there. It’s like a spaced out feeling but got so much to do that don’t feel I should take any more time off.

It’s so funny the partner performance fear. Mine had to do his in the hospital and said he couldn’t ‘concentrate’ because it felt so wrong doing that in a medical setting. I mean I’d love to be a bloke! That’s literally their part done. Yeah they have to be with the clinic within an hour.

Getting a bit scared about what they’re going to say in the phone call on Saturday. How many have got to day 3? The nurse on the phone said I should have a withdrawal bleed next week and then my next natural bled will be however long my normal cycle is after that. Hopefully then we can do transfer. I don’t think I could go through transfer now if I wanted to. Body is dead!!!

@SamVan oh well enjoy all that extra food - double dinner for you for the next week! Least while you wait for egg collection you can just kill the time with food 😂 I’m just dreaming about my egg collection meal having been on this pcos diet for the past 6 weeks. There is definitely going to be some (lots) of sugar!!

I am in at 9am too. Twinning to a T! I think with fyremadel it’s around the same time every day but not bang on the minute. I usually do my stim and fyremadel sometime between 8 and 8:30pm. Trigger is the only one that is super precise like to the minute. But the rest I am usually within 30 mins every day. Are you worried you won’t be able to do it at the right time tomorrow due to leaving for the clinic? Or just generally?

haha fingers crossed their is no kicking of sperm next week!! He has strict orders to NOT be clumsy this time. Nurses said they were all laughing about it last time 😂🙈 how far is your clinic from home?

@SlinkMcSlink oh bless you. What do you do for work - are you one of the primary teachers? 😂 or do you wfh?

and yeah I can’t get over how much they milk it tho (no pun!) and how big of an ordeal it was. I’d be buzzing if that was my only thing to be accountable for! Did they do icsi or was it trad IVF?

that’s good you can hopefully go off next months bleed! I got my withdrawal within a week of egg collection so hopefully once you’ve had that, you’ll feel a lot better. I remember feeling way less bloated and meh after I had had a period.
fingers crossed for Saturday. Think 70% of fertilised make it to day 3 generally but obviously that is ‘average’. Hopefully you’ll have a good number and they’re doing well! Least you will know in a day

SamVan · 04/07/2024 21:40

@SlinkMcSlink hope you can have a good rest now that the hard part is done! It’s normal to worry but you’ve got great chances.

three our friends, and my husband, have had their sperm tested in the same clinic and I thought it was funny that they had all jerked off in the same room!

@GCS34 ah it must be hard going through this and having a special diet. I had intentions to eat super healthy etc through this period but have given up. No alcohol obviously but I’ve given myself a free pass for this round.

yeah I’m worried I won’t be able to do it at the right time tomorrow due to being enroute to the clinic during the injection time. I might just do it earlier I think as long as it’s not more than 24h it should be fine.

im crossing my fingers your husband won’t drop his sperm either 😂you can tell him random people on the internet are rooting for him! Clinic is about half an hour but we are not risking it with the journey he will do it in the clinic he has no choice!

CakePigeon30 · 04/07/2024 21:45

@SamVan yeah I’ve not had wine for about 3 months now - I’d love a Pinot! But I’m hoping I won’t be able to have one until next year now 😅 god that’s a scary thought.

what time do you usually do it? If you do it before you leave, it’s only going to be 30 mins early if your clinic is 30 mins away so I think that’s more than okay. I falter about 20 mins either way of 8pm for mine. Or could you do it in the car?

haha I’ll pass on the sperm luck! And I agree on doing it in clinic. They can just suck it up and crack on. That’s hilarious that all 3 men had to do it in the same room. Bet they were all quite proud of it too which is the weirdest thing!

SamVan · 04/07/2024 22:00

@GCS34 i usually do about 9.15 but I’ll need to do it at 8.30am. I take the tube to my appointments and at rush hour it’s definitely not a good place for a jab 😅

I hope you won’t be able to have wine again for a year too!

haha I don’t know I just reminded him of it before he went in to weird him about it but he still performed fine.

I’ve been watching that documented on Netflix about that creep who fathered 1000 children though sperm donation and now I’m terrified I’ll get the wrong sperm or eggs. Does anyone else have this concern? I hear it’s safer now with double witnessing though so hopefully it’s not a real risk.

CakePigeon30 · 04/07/2024 22:48

@SamVan could you do the injection at the clinic? Then you could do it at 9ish? Or does yours need to be kept in fridge?
