IVF/ICSI May or late April

AnnieStar12 · 10/04/2024 22:29

Is anyone else gearing up to do IVF/ICSI in May?

My meds have arrived and I start my down regs next week to start a long protocol ICSI cycle, my egg collection will then be mid-May.

Had my first ICSI cycle in Feb which resulted in only 1 embryo which was transferred on day 5, but BFN. I found the support group on here super helpful with my last cycle, so wondering if anyone else is in a similar position?

@AnnieStar12 that's amazing news! Fingers crossed for you and all positive vibes your way!

I was told on Saturday from the 13 eggs collected, 7 made it through. I did ask for an update today though they said they normally don't do this. Hoping some of the 7 come through!

2tuxedocats · 20/05/2024 10:12

@AnnieStar12 hooray! That’s great news, hopefully it continues growing healthy and strong 🤍

@Rebekah77 I’m so sorry it hasn’t worked out this time. I’m hoping you are able to rest.

@Gnatalie16 I’m sorry you feel that way, I definitely had guilt for taking time off for appointments. My manager knows and had been supportive but it’s hard telling other people white lies about where you’re going! Keep resting up, your health is the most important thing.

@EvaA17 good luck for this morning, let us know how you get on!!

@HopefulllHolly eek exciting! Try not to worry, just think of the 80-90% of pregnancies that aren’t miscarried. You’ve got this!!

@AnnieStar12 I test on Friday. I’m feeling quite nervous to be honest. The cramping has passed and I only get the odd twinge now and again. I have been so angry and emotional the entire weekend. I’m at work this week so I’m hoping it will take my mind off things.

PurpleRayne89 · 20/05/2024 10:13

@AnnieStar12 Morning, my clinic don’t do updates in between. It’s day 1 and day 5. They don’t want to disturb the embryo. They don’t have the ability to check it without removing it from. It’s more nerve racking this way tbf. Maybe I’ll get a call to come in tomorrow for fresh transfer. I’ll let you know ☺️

Congratulations on your embryo 👏

HopefulllHolly · 20/05/2024 10:20

@Gnatalie16 Thats ridiculous that they are questioning you, lying down all day is so boring! People just don’t understand IVF at all. Send them a link to OHSS and they will shut up im sure. Hopefully the letter will help so you can stop worrying. Really glad you’re feeling ok too! Do you get any other updates or just wait till day 5 now?

@positivepetal that’s a lovely number, I’m sure you’ll get some blasts from that. My clinic didn’t give day 3 updates either - was nerve wracking but I guess I would have worried in hindsight if they had as one of mine stopped growing on day 3 and only had the one left, so I’m thankful now I didn’t hear anything!

AnnieStar12 · 20/05/2024 10:22

@PurpleRayne89 fingers crossed for good news tomorrow!

@positivepetal hopefully we both have good news on Wednesday, it's so nerve wracking waiting like this especially for me only having one! Feels like I need a miracle for this to work.

@2tuxedocats good luck for Friday, hope it's good news. Very impressed you're waiting the full week! Hope you feel a bit calmer this week, it's all such an emotional rollercoster.

@Gnatalie16 defo take time off work if you need it, good your clinic can sort out a note. I've been sneaking around doing this all without telling work which has been so hard. I'm running out of excuses!

@HopefulllHolly it's so lovely hearing your updates, and so exciting you have your 7 week scan booked in. It's totally normal to feel all the anxiety now. I know I will be a total mess if I were to get pregnant again. But just remember most pregnancies are totally fine and there's nothing you can do to change the outcome anyways, so be gentle on yourself. Go for nice walks, keep the blood flowing and find ways to relax whether that be meditation or netflixs haha!

@2tuxedocats Oh bless you, I don’t know why I don’t think of the positive odds to be honest!! You’re right.

If it makes you feel better I don’t have any twinges or anything really to mention! My boobs are a bit swollen (I’m a member of the itty bitty titty committee so it’s noticeable 😂) and I have blue veins all over them now, they look really weird! Other than that I feel totally normal! Your emotional moods sound like a good sign honestly. Keeping my fingers crossed, you’re a saint not to test!!

Cloclo93 · 20/05/2024 10:25

Hi girls does who already had EC and got mature eggs do you remember the sizes? I had my last scan this morning I have 1 follicle at
18mm
15mm
14mm
I have 2 more follicles below 12mm

I asked to compare it to my last cycle and I actually had 7 follicles above 12mm but only got 4 mature eggs! So am just wondering what mm is a mature egg usually found in? 🤔
Xx

positivepetal · 20/05/2024 10:25

I'm constantly thinking about what can I do if I do get any by Wednesday for transfer - how can I make them stick ? Already bought some pineapple 🍍😂

PurpleRayne89 · 20/05/2024 10:26

Thanks @AnnieStar12

HopefulllHolly · 20/05/2024 10:28

@positivepetal Hahaha I did that. I ate a tub of pineapple every day, and I got obsessed with the grape and pomegranate juice from marks and spencer - now I’m hooked on the apple and watermelon. I also got some milled nuts that I have on my Greek yoghurt every morning 😂😂 I tried all the foods they said! I heard beetroot is good too but I hate the stuff, and I didn’t eat McDonald’s chips. God knows if any of it makes a difference but it’s good to try!

HopefulllHolly · 20/05/2024 10:36

@Cloclo93 Whens your trigger? I think they grow 2mm a day and then ripen up once you trigger, so those ones at 12mm have some time. I think I had one slightly under 12mm at my last scan that they retrieved that didn’t have an egg in but I don’t know the size it was when I had retrieval.

@PurpleRayne89 Fingers crossed for tomorrow, keep yourself busy - was the only thing that helped me not worry. My clinic didn’t give a day 3 update either but to be honest it was for the best as it would have caused more worry. They are in safe hands ☺️

Cloclo93 · 20/05/2024 10:49

@HopefulllHolly possibly tonight but I'm not too sure I'll know this afternoon when the doctor contacts me, all this waiting around is terrible 🥺 from all my googling it seems follicles above 14mm should have a mature egg 🥚 🤞

HopefulllHolly · 20/05/2024 10:53

@Cloclo93 It’s not fun all the waiting and worrying, so much worse than the drugs. You’ve got this 💪

Rebekah77 · 20/05/2024 10:58

Thank you all , after 8 attempts to start used to it . Feel stupid for believing them it would get to day 1 this time !

yeah think a big drink and a bit of time out for me . So upsetting when they can’t lead with a natural cycle and I’ve spent so much money with them now stuck !

Thank you all for your support

AnnieStar12 · 20/05/2024 10:58

@Cloclo93 My clinic say that anything over 12 has a chance to have an egg, so they'll look in them all. But nothing is guaranteed of course, I had 2 large lead ones and then two smaller ones which I think would have been just over 12mm by time of collection. But of all of them, only 1 follicle had an egg all the others were empty.

positivepetal · 20/05/2024 11:07

@HopefulllHolly - I have really sore and sensitive boobs atm! Since the day of EC - I also went on the scales today for the first time since starting treatment and see I've put on 1.5kg!

I did infact have the McDonald's fries right after EC, followed by a chinese meal the next day- get all that sodium in 😂

@Cloclo93 Hang in there they still have some time to grow! I only had 1 over the 17 mm mark which they said is where they wanted them but managed to get 7 eggs at end of it. So the smaller ones do catch up!

Hollielouise · 20/05/2024 11:09

@EvaA17 How did your scan go this morning? I hope you've had good news 💖. I've just had my first one and have 18 follies between 12-23mm and 7/8 under.

Has anyone managed an HCG trigger and fresh transfer with these kind of numbers? They're currently discussing trigger change and freeze all to manage OHSS so feels like a gamble either way 🙇🏼‍♀️

Ashleighlouise · 20/05/2024 11:12

@EvaA17 @HopefulllHolly @AnnieStar12 thank you my lovelies 🩷🩷

I have properly started bleeding more now and cramping so i think it's hit home more now than it had done. I rang the clinic and they said to just keep going with the pessarys and just go in on Thursday morning as planned. Feel like it's cruel to have to keep faffing on with the pessarys but never mind 🥺 I'm assuming this bleeding is probably going to go on for a while? The receptionist asked if I wanted a callback from the nurse but I just didn't want to drag the day out waiting for someone to call me back 😓

Ashleighlouise · 20/05/2024 11:13

@HopefulllHolly YAY for your 7 week scan date booked in how exciting! I'm hoping the time flies by for you!!! Just need to keep busy and positive until you get to see your baby 😍😍

Ashleighlouise · 20/05/2024 11:15

@Rebekah77 sorry things haven't gone to plan, honestly what a rubbish time when you have to start again from scratch 😓😓 I definitely think a bit of time out and some time for you will be so beneficial and take some of the stress away, even if it's only for a month or 2 xx

Ashleighlouise · 20/05/2024 11:17

@AnnieStar12 amazing that your little embryo is thriving and progressing well! Sending all the positive vibes for Wednesdays update 🤞🏼🤍✨🥚

Ashleighlouise · 20/05/2024 11:28

@CreamLampshade I feel the same, im looking forward to getting back out running and we are getting married in October so we always said we'd try once and if it didn't work we'd focus on the wedding and come back to try again after the wedding - so I've got a few months now to just focus on some exciting plans and hopefully come back after our honeymoon feeling refreshed and ready to try again xx

HopefulllHolly · 20/05/2024 11:39

@Ashleighlouise Ooooh congrats on your upcoming wedding, so exciting!! That’s definitely something to look forward to, and after your honeymoon you’ll be lovely and relaxed. Hope you’re going somewhere nice?

Thank you!❤️ I've got my hen do in August as well and told my bridesmaids to make it "pregnancy friendly" just in case but I guess now we can go as wild as we want.. which I guess is something to look forward too haha! We are going to Malaga for our honeymoon, I haven't been before but looks beautiful!!

HopefulllHolly · 20/05/2024 11:51

@Ashleighlouise Oh amazing, definitely have a good party in August! You deserve it! Don’t let IVF overshadow your plans ☺️ Malaga sounds fabulous! So much to look forward to! August isn’t even that far away now really, I swear since covid time just goes so fast!!
