IVF/ICSI May or late April

Is anyone else gearing up to do IVF/ICSI in May?

My meds have arrived and I start my down regs next week to start a long protocol ICSI cycle, my egg collection will then be mid-May.

Had my first ICSI cycle in Feb which resulted in only 1 embryo which was transferred on day 5, but BFN. I found the support group on here super helpful with my last cycle, so wondering if anyone else is in a similar position?

Im sorry you’ve not had the result you deserve @AnnieStar12, it’s so rubbish when these things happen :( I’m keeping everything crossed it fertilised.

@PurpleRayne89 the waiting is so difficult. Hope they call soon.

am sitting here anxiously googling fertility stuff and unable to work. Need to get up and go do something - DH not home for a few hours. Should I avoid drinking water? Don’t want to dilute a Positive (but also I’m literally 100% sure it’s negative anyway)

@CreamLampshade usually a 2-3 hour hold is enough especially where you are now if it's positive it should be obvious enough! Sending you all the positive vibes, must be awful having to wait! Time goes SOO slow 😞😞

@AnnieStar12 so sorry you only got the 1 egg but fingers and everything crossed it could be a really good one for you. I’ll be thinking about you!

Had my scan this morning have 2 big follicles and 3 smaller ones which they are hoping will catch up over the weekend. Have another scan on Monday and they said that depending on sizes I may have another scan on Wednesday or else collection.

I could have cried we were told if we get any response it would be so lucky so I’m over the moon, though trying to stay realistic as we won’t know until the egg collection how it goes but just to see my partners face and how happy and relieved he was. I’m just hoping it keeps going like this.

So the clinic called. They said 1 of the two eggs retrieved have fertilised nicely. I guess it’s my one hope. I pray it develops strongly to day 5. Fingers and toes crossed.

Literally feels like this has been the longest month of my life @Ashleighlouise!!

@HopefulllHolly @CreamLampshade Thanks. It’s made me more nervous as I have all my hopes pinned on this little embryo in a dish. I pray I pray I pray I really do. I’m not sure whether I’d receive another update, I will ask my Doctor. It wasn’t explained clearly!

@Clairehbear So pleased somethings growing! Those were my numbers too - 2 big and 3 small ones. Hopefully you’ll have better luck than me on EC day.

@CreamLampshade only a few more hours until test! I think at this stage you don’t need to worry too much about urine concentration as it’s not super early so it should show up if positive. We’re rooting for you!!

I’m now resting in bed waiting for the call to say if my one egg was mature enough to go to fertilisation….

My clinic said they don’t do anymore updates. They say it it’s going to make to D5, it is likely to grow into a baby. Which does make a lot of sense. So I won’t hear anything until Tuesday, well unless it’s bad news. Makes things a whole lot worse.

@Clairehbear i am glad you had some follicles growing. Fingers crossed they all produce some lovely eggs.

@Gnatalie16 omg!! That’s an insane number of eggs you produced. When will you know how many fertilised etc?

@AnnieStar12 find out tomorrow morning. The embryologist came and asked if we wanted to do some as ivf and remainder as icsi so we are doing 21 ivf remainder icsi

I'm def not having my transfer this cycle I shall be waiting at least 1 cycle before FET. I'm feeling quite sore now so will be on the sofa for a while now

@AnnieStar12 Will they be calling you tomorrow to inform you of fertilisation?

So I just had my first call, and first hurdle is now complete as the egg is fully mature so at least that’s something. There going to fertilise it now and call me in the morning to let me know if I’ve made it past the second hurdle. I think they feel sorry for me so have agreed to give me lots of updates.

@Gnatalie16 im not surprised they’re doing some as ivf, it’ll take them all day doing icsi for that many eggs, lol!!

We had 13 eggs, will have a call tomorrow to see how many fertilised.
They also said they don't normally tell you how it's getting along until D5 but she asked if I would like to know on D3 I said yes!

I feel so sleepy- I'm about to watch Bridgerton (perfect timing) and nod off!

@PurpleRayne89 @positivepetal Yeah I think it’s quite common just to wait until day 5, as if they make it to then they have a good chance, and any that don’t probably wouldn’t have made it back in you anyway. It’s a horrible wait. The waiting is horrible in IVF from this point onwards, I won’t lie, you have to be quite emotionally tough. Make lots of plans to distract yourself! And definitely have some sleep

@HopefulllHolly thankyou!!! I actually totally forgot until you wrote that. I was so expecting them to tell me it wasn’t mature so I had assumed I would not need to take any pessaries and just hadn’t given it a thought.

Had my scan this afternoon, all looking ok except they want me to continue on injections for a few more days so our egg collection has been move from Monday to Wednesday. For some reasons I feel really disappointed even though I know it’s for the best. I think we just had it all planned out with dates and times etc so I feel a bit upset it’s all changed which it’s so stupid! I guess this is the rollercoaster of ivf 🙃

@positivepetal no typo lol and I can def feel it now feeling heavy still and bloated just hoping this is all the symptoms I get from OHSS. Congrats on the eggs that's great news do you get a call tomorrow to update you?
@HopefulllHolly I'm not starting mine just yet as I'm waiting till next cycle or even cycle after to do FET due to the OHSS. I have all that joy to come 😅
@Seasidegirll I had exactly the same ended up having 5 scans in the end and then well here we are lol it is disheartening but it's the best thing and gives you more of a chance to grow lots of eggs. Trust your nurses and consultants they know best I learnt that in the end
