IVF/ICSI May or late April

Is anyone else gearing up to do IVF/ICSI in May?

My meds have arrived and I start my down regs next week to start a long protocol ICSI cycle, my egg collection will then be mid-May.

Had my first ICSI cycle in Feb which resulted in only 1 embryo which was transferred on day 5, but BFN. I found the support group on here super helpful with my last cycle, so wondering if anyone else is in a similar position?

Thanks @wishfulbean, the clinic said they’ll do tests tomorrow to test for ohss but they seemed very sceptical it was that given I can walk, eat and wee. I’m still very uncomfy when I walk and there’s a weird heavy feeling all the time, and I still look bloated lol but maybe that’s the progresterone!

thanks for the good luck @Cloclo93! I’m excited to get there tomorrow now. I’ve got to have breakfast at 8:30 and then not eat til about 4:30 tho so going to be full of rage in the afternoon I imagine!! I’m being put under again as I am terrible with anything like this.

@HopefulllHolly sorry you’re feeling irritable. Progresterone is so uncomfy… I keep squealing from constipation and then having to run to the loo suddenly and I feel like my stomach is a tight balloon. Hope you get some good news re your embryos tomorrow, are they going to update you or do they wait till Tuesday?

@CreamLampshade Good luck for transfer today!! Not eating all day is rough! I would be so hangry by 4:30 😅 Let us know how you get on.
Yeah I won’t find out anything about our embryos until tomorrow. So I guess they’ll call in the morning if neither have made it. I’m really anxious about it. I’ve definitely read every thread about success stories for only 2 fertilised eggs now. My other half is really scared too. Stressful!

Good luck @Ashleighlouise for your transfer today.
Just got back from my scan I don’t know if I’m happy or worried now, my endometrium is 9mm which she said is good but my biggest follicle is 13mm and 11mm but rest are from 6-10, and she mentioned lots of little ones. Waiting to see if the doctor calls and wants me to up my meriofert or not. Back on Wednesday for another scan so just have to keep going!

@Gnatalie16 what day of stims are you? I got to day 12 with the same sizes as you and then they kept me on over the weekend and they all had grown about 4-6mm, so maybe they are just a bit slow like mine. I wasn’t put on anything higher. Lining is good! 😊

I only started last Monday so day 8 tonight. Ah okay so they grow quite quickly then, I just overthink and worry so don’t help myself! Making it my mission over the next week to drink more as she said that helps them to grow too 😃

@Gnatalie16 ah you’re still early days, I think they are a good size for where you are! Think they said it’s 1-2mm a day growth and mine grew more than that 😊

Hey guys! Egg collection all done! I feel like the sedatives didn't work too well on me as I definitely felt everythinggg.. or it felt like I did, lovely nurse held my hand and i had Taylor Swift on 😂! They managed to get 13 eggs!! So definitely hoping and praying sone of those fertilise and grow big and strong 💪🏼 🤍✨🤞🏼

That’s a great number @Ashleighlouise, congrats!! Sorry you could feel everything… that sounds stressful!! Were you basically awake?? You’re hardcore!

@Gnatalie16 mine were a similar size at that stage and I think they gave me four days and was fine. They grow about 1-2mm a day!

im not sure they’ll transfer for me today. Woke up with excruciating pain down below after going for a (small, smelly) wee, my boyfriend almost called an ambulance I was in so much pain! Also felt like I was going vomit and was dizzy. Weirdly it got better quite quickly. I went to an out of hours doc and got a wee test as my wee had smelled when I went to the loo (sorry if tmi) so I thought it might be a urine infection. She said the wee was fine so perhaps it’s just ohss as pain while urinating is a thing. She also didn’t even know what ohss was so that was useless.

i then got back into bed when I got back and slept from 9:30 to 12:30. And was quite feverish during sleep. Same last night - I woke up screaming ‘no’ in the middle of the night!

My retrieval appt is at 2:30 so hopefully they’ll shed some light. I’m still so bloated and feel full / uncomfy! I said to my boyf last night it feels like my vagina and bum are so full they are prolapsing!! (Sorry I’m such a drama queen. But that’s how it feels, kind of like they’re going to burst!)

Just had a call from the clinic the doctor wants me to double my dosage of meriofert tonight and tomorrow then scan on Wednesday hopefully they will be bigger by then

@Ashleighlouise 13 is lucky for some!! Excellent result, you must be so relieved.

@Gnatalie16 that must be reassuring you can up the dose, hopefully they will be big by time you get scanned on Wednesday.

I also have my first scan on Wednesday. Of course I am worrying there’ll be nothing, or not enough, growing. I think I’m already on the max dosage, but as I’ve come down with an awful cold I’m also worrying that will impact follicle growth.

@CreamLampshade omg, you poor thing. I hope you’re okay and your body is recovering. Is today your day 5? How many embryos do you have today, and are you planning on transferring 1 or 2? Really hope they let you transfer xx

@Ashleighlouise woohoo 13 eggs is brilliant! I’m sure there’ll be plenty that will grow into embryos. When do you find out the quality?

Thank you for all the well wishes, my IUI went pretty smoothly this morning. It was pretty painless more uncomfortable; Im
assuming the fact I was a lot more relaxed helped that. I now wait until 24th May to find out! Back home chilling on the sofa and my wife has already banned me from picking up anything heavier than the cat 😂 I start the pessaries tonight, baby making is so glamorous isn’t it 😂

@HopefulllHolly I’ll be crossing my fingers for your phone call tomorrow and it seems like Wednesday is our next big day for the group @AnnieStar12 and @Gnatalie16

@Ashleighlouise yay 13 eggs is a great number! I feel bad I missold a dream to you! Clinics must have different sedation protocols or maybe people respond differently? Sorry you felt everything and hope it wasn’t too bad. Hope you’re having a good snooze tonight!

Thanks @2tuxedocats im really nervous for a call - but excited if we do have a transfer tomorrow. Any recommendations for funny movies? Apparently it’s good to laugh a lot after a transfer (provided we get good news of course, if not I will be wallowing)

Quick update, they did go ahead with transfer as they couldn’t find any fluid. They said mr ovaries were enlarged but not to a worrying extent and the symptoms are normal as my body is getting ready with pregnancy.

they put two embryos in which were blyocrasts or whatever they’re called, they said they were too early to grade and didn’t want to risk me having a transfer today for one and then losing one tomorrow if it wasn’t suitable for freezing. Hopefully one sticks!!

feel a bit dizzy and tired from the Sedative but otherwise ok.

we may have one more tomorrow to freeze but depends how it goes tonight. Grow little thing grow!

Thank you everyone! I am back home now and just had a 2 hour nap 😂 I think what happened is I had a nurse do the sedative rather than an anaesthesiologist and apparently they aren't allowed to give you the good full strength stuff (understandably) but honestly, even with that the process was still completely fine! It hasn't scarred me 😂😂

@CreamLampshade that's great they've been able to transfer too, after all you're the best place possible for them to be! Hopefully making themselves nice and cosy in your tummy for the next 9 months 🤍🤞🏼✨ sending all the positive vibes to your other little one I hope they grow grow grow!! 🥚

I am getting so so so nervous now to hear if we have an embryo. I have to keep forcing myself not to think about it as when I do I feel like I’m going to be sick with fear. 🤢

So I finally finished my Northisterone last night now just have to wait for my bleed so that I can start my stimulation injections.

Thanks goodness the Northisterone is finished cause it was making me feel weird. I’m normally very chilled and it was making me have little patience and a bit agitated.

Im sure the injections will be fun, though I’m not worried too much since I’m a nurse just keeping everything crossed since we may not get many eggs.

@HopefulllHolly highly recommend ‘This is 40’ - just been watching it in hysterics! Also ‘the secret life of pets 2’ had me giggling. And yes, day 5 transfers. They were blyocrasts (?) but it was too early to grade them so no idea what the quality was like.

@Clairehbear the main thing I did was concentrate on nutrition just because it felt like something I could control. Lots of lean protein, fruit and vegetables and gallons of full fat milk!

@Clairehbear the norethisterone did that to me too. My tips would be eat well and try and get some exercise in each day. I made sure I either walked briskly for at least 30 minutes each day or went for a swim; my doctor has said no to the swimming pool until after my pregnancy test so I’m going to keep up the walking.

I’m sure you’ll find the injections a doddle if you’re a nurse but I found an ice pack helped

Yes I’ve been trying to eat as healthy as possible. Also starting taking Vitamin D (the clinic told me too) and I got CoQ10 I had read it can be good.

@CreamLampshade the only problem is I’m lactose intolerant so no full fat milk for me haha 😜
