IVF/ICSI May or late April

Is anyone else gearing up to do IVF/ICSI in May?

My meds have arrived and I start my down regs next week to start a long protocol ICSI cycle, my egg collection will then be mid-May.

Had my first ICSI cycle in Feb which resulted in only 1 embryo which was transferred on day 5, but BFN. I found the support group on here super helpful with my last cycle, so wondering if anyone else is in a similar position?

@2tuxedocats whoa, you got the hard bit out the way, congrats.
Good luck with the pesseries 😬

@CreamLampshade oh that’s exciting you got two transferred! Glad you made it this far. And good luck for your third little one overnight, hopefully it’s strong enough to go in the freezer tomorrow, fingers crossed 🤞

@HopefulllHolly oh you poor thing, it’s a tense wait isn’t it. Do you know what time they’re gonna call you tomorrow? My go-to for distraction is to watch some rubbish Netflix true crime documentaries 🤦‍♀️ probs the opposite of the laugh you need tho! Rooting for you and hoping you get something to transfer tomorrow.

@Clairehbear great you’re getting closer to starting, hoping your period doesn’t leave you waiting for too long. In terms of tips, one thing I’ve been doing this round which has been helpful is some videos on you tube for ivf yoga and relaxation. They say it’s all good for the blood flow to the womb etc, but in any case it’s just been doing wonders to relax me in the evenings. I put some candles on and do a little video of deep breathing and stretching. In my first round of ivf my stress and anxiety levels were through the roof so this time my focus has been on trying to keep calm.

@AnnieStar12 ah I’ve watched every single crime docuseries on Netflix - completed it 😂 currently rewatching law and order, dregs of the barrel now 🤣🤣
No idea what time, I think if we have something to transfer they won’t call us, but if it’s bad news they will call - last time they called at 9:30am so I reckon it’ll be morning time. Prayers they don’t ring us and it’s good news. So stressful, I feel so anxious! 😬

Ashleighlouise · 06/05/2024 20:59

@HopefulllHolly we just randomly watched the hangover the other night and i was laughing my head off 😂 also bridesmaids is super funny, game night is also funny! I've just recently started watching the vampire diaries and I'm obsessed haha so that is keeping me occupied when I have the time to chill!!!

Ashleighlouise · 06/05/2024 21:01

Clairehbear · 06/05/2024 18:51

So I finally finished my Northisterone last night now just have to wait for my bleed so that I can start my stimulation injections.

Thanks goodness the Northisterone is finished cause it was making me feel weird. I’m normally very chilled and it was making me have little patience and a bit agitated.

Im sure the injections will be fun, though I’m not worried too much since I’m a nurse just keeping everything crossed since we may not get many eggs.

Has anyone any tips and tricks?

Hope everyone is keeping well

Hopefully your period comes soon! 🤞🏼 feels like yesterday i was stopping the pill and now I've just had EC! It's crazy how fast time goes! The injections are hopefully not too bad, I didn't use any ice packs or anything just did it as quickly as possible and it was over before i knew it!!

Seasidegirll · 06/05/2024 21:30

@Clairehbear I felt the same on norethisterone! I had my last tablets on Thursday eve and my period has just arrived!! I think the clinic will class my day 1 as tomorrow so will hopefully have a scan on Wednesday and all being will we can start stimm injections that evening.

wishfulbean · 07/05/2024 01:15

@HopefulllHolly Good luck today cycle buddy!! Fingers crossed for two amazing blastocysts to choose from!

I rang the clinic earlier today and my transfer can still go ahead (assuming all ok with growth) as I stopped being actually sick on Sunday morning. I feel so delicate though but well be made worse by the progesterone.

I obviously can't sleep tonight with nerves so will be stealing some of the show suggestions to occupy my mind!

@Ashleighlouise that's a great number of eggs! I'm so sorry you weren't as sedated as you'd hoped (and I assumed!) what you said about the anaesthetic is true! A nurse isn't allowed to give you the same thing - the lovely anaesthetist I had told me as much when I said I was nervous due to past experience of other procedures. She said it must have been a nurse and promised that she would put me safely deep!

@CreamLampshade amazing news that you have had two transferred! What date have they given you to do the test?

@2tuxedocats glad the IUI all went smoothly everything crossed for 24th May!! The pessaries are so annoying 😆.

@AnnieStar12 hope you are feeling ok and your rubbish cold is subsiding!

Ashleighlouise · 07/05/2024 06:24

@wishfulbean thank you I am definitely pleased with the number, I've barely been able to sleep all night waking every hour! Just terrified the clinic wil ring and tell me no eggs have been fertilised 😅😱

Yes that right! I think it's probably better I didn't know the difference tbh as i thought it was the same for everyone else so i was stil relaxed and going with the flow 😂

Im so please you're still able to go ahead with the transfer! 🥚✨ hopefully you start to feel better and better as the days go by!!

HopefulllHolly · 07/05/2024 06:45

Thank you @wishfulbean you too! Glad you’re able to go ahead still and we can still be cycle buds!

I haven’t slept either, I feel physically sick thinking about whether we’ll have anything. My friend who just had a little boy from IVF has sent me a massive list of things to do and don’t after transfer. 🥹 I pray we get to that point! Send me all your positive vibes please everyone 🥺🥺

Ashleighlouise · 07/05/2024 07:08

@HopefulllHolly I hope you have the most wonderful news today and you have a strong blastocyst to transfer ✨🤍🥚 sending all the positive vibes!!! Let us know if there is anything on the list that sounds promising 😂😂

HopefulllHolly · 07/05/2024 08:28

@Ashleighlouise thank you! I’ll post it later for you ☺️ A long wait until 3:30pm unless we get a dreaded call before then!

@Ashleighlouise thank you! I’ll post it later for you ☺️ A long wait until 3:30pm unless we get a dreaded call before then!

Fingers crossed!!! Our embryologist said she would call us between 9-10 this morning to let us know how many have fertilised! I feel SOOO anxious, surprised i even got any breakfast down me this morning! 😮‍💨😮‍💨

HopefulllHolly · 07/05/2024 09:01

@Ashleighlouise It’s so nerve wracking isn’t it. I’m sure you’ll have lots fertilised. Keeping my fingers crossed for your good news 😘

SS2022 · 07/05/2024 09:31

Hello @HopefulllHolly ,
I have been absolutely gutted to know that my AMH has dropped to 0.26ng/ml. That explains why I had two follicles. I just have one egg which fertilised but I will get to know on Wed.
what are the list of do’s and font’s that you are friend has sent. Do you mind sharing it here pls?

I am confused whether I should give one last shot or not!

SS2022 · 07/05/2024 09:34

Hello all,

I recently had my blood test and my AmH is now in the poor ovarian responder category. Has anyone found success with very low ovarian reserve like in the range of 0.2ng/ml.
I am thinking of DHEA s and PRP but so unsure about all this.
any information will be helpful.
thank you x

Ashleighlouise · 07/05/2024 09:41

Just got the call from the embryologist and we have 10 all fertilised normally and "beautifully" 🥹 transfer has been booked in for Saturday at 9:15am so just got to sit tight and hope and pray they all keep growing big and strong until then! 🥚✨🤞🏼🤍

SS2022 · 07/05/2024 09:45

@Ashleighlouise that’s amazing. I hope everything works for you. Take care and all the best!

Ashleighlouise · 07/05/2024 09:51

SS2022 · 07/05/2024 09:45

@Ashleighlouise that’s amazing. I hope everything works for you. Take care and all the best!

Thank you @SS2022 🤍
Sorry to hear about your low AMH results, hopefully some of the other girls on here might be able to give you some more advice/guidance xx

SS2022 · 07/05/2024 09:54

Thank you x I don’t have much hope to be honest.

HopefulllHolly · 07/05/2024 10:04

Wooohoooo that’s amazing @Ashleighlouise grow little embryos grow! How exciting!

@SS2022 Oh bless you. I have low AMH too, not quite as low as yours but I’ve read every thread online about low AMH and success with IVF so have a read as it will help you with your morale. I only got 3 eggs, 2 of which were mature and fertilised ok. You only need one, so I’m trying to stay hopeful.

My friend said the below things for after embryo transfer:

  • No heat or hot water bottles
  • Keep your feet warm
  • Warm foods before and after transfer (I have bone broth as the salt and protein is good)
  • Rest for the first day
  • No hardcore exercise, only gentle. Walking is good.
  • No cold drinks
  • Avoid stress

Sounds like the normal stuff really but I’m going to take note as she’s a veteran of IVF and I’m not 😂

HopefulllHolly · 07/05/2024 10:05

Oh and the stuff they tell you like no fragrances on the day of transfer. I’m going wild today 🤣

Ashleighlouise · 07/05/2024 10:11

@HopefulllHolly thank you!! I am getting those positive affirmations out there for the rest of the week 🤍
Those all sounds like great tips! I constantly wear fluffy socks so they will be on my feet for the foreseeable 😂😂 i also hear having McDonald's fries after transfer? I'm assuming it's the salt that helps!! I'll definitely be following those rules!! Do you think no cold drinks she means iced drinks and not water?

AnnieStar12 · 07/05/2024 10:20

@HopefulllHolly good luck!!! Shame your clinic don't give you a little call to put your mind at ease. But hopefully not having heard anything yet is a good sign, fingers crossed!

@wishfulbean good luck today too!! Let us know how you get on.

@Ashleighlouise what a great result, you must be delighted with those numbers

@SS2022 I'm sorry to hear about the low AMH. I also have low AMH, but managed to get 3 eggs on my last round and 1 embryo. I am on my second round now but don't know yet how many are growing as my first monitoring scan is tomorrow. Like @HopefulllHolly said, I've read every low AMH success thread out there, it is possible, but it's harder for us as IVF is a numbers game and we won't ever get high numbers.

2tuxedocats · 07/05/2024 10:22

@Ashleighlouise amazing news 💙 let’s hope they grow strong for Saturday!

I had a restless night and got quite hot despite changing my duvet for my lightest one. My boobs feel massive as well 😂 thanks for those tips @HopefulllHolly I’ll be putting my fluffy socks on when I get home!!

SS2022 · 07/05/2024 10:25

Thank you @HopefulllHolly and @AnnieStar12.

I know it’s a number game to be honest. What’s your AMH if I can ask? Has your clinic recommended DHEA- although taking this can depend on your DHEA-s levels and total testosterone.
My AMH just dropped from a cliff. It was ok back in October.
I can’t believe it dropped like that. I have been trying not to cry but I feel helpless at the moment.
i have been doing some research on PRP and DHEA supplements.

AnnieStar12 · 07/05/2024 10:32

@SS2022 what did yours drop from in October? Mine went from 4.8 in August last year when tested at my clinic, and then I (stupidly) had it retested via Hertility in March and it dropped right down to 1.7. Tbh, I am sceptical of Hertility's result as I just can't quite believe such a drastic drop is possible in 7 months. I am also annoyed at myself for even doing the Hertility test as knowing I had an AMH of 4.8 was bad enough, so all it's done is given me loads of unnecessary stress and anxiety as I'm not actually changing anything with my approach to IVF. Where are you on your journey?
