Hi ladies,

Just wondered if anyone is due to start their IVF cycle this month and want to keep company?!

I will be starting my first round hopefully in just over a week's time, on a short protocol.
After 2 years ttc, hoping this is finally our year!

@cbear1989 Ah I see. Well in my experience egg collection has been totally fine. Feels less intrusive to the scans cause you’re knocked out 😂 ..I’m exactly the same as you - 10pm jabs Saturday and a break on Sunday! I hope it goes super well for us both! 🤍

Best of luck with the scan @Natty2
Heres hoping we’ll all be ending Jan and starting the year with the best news! 🤩

@Natty2 @Lasagne30 when were you shown how to use the injections and meds? I know CARE Fertility who i will be with have online tutorials which I've been looking at today. I'm a bit unsure where to insert the progesterone pessary. For me i feel that is going to be the most frustrating part.

Hi, I am with Care as well and due to start meds next weekend if AF comes. The nurse told me the progesterone tablet can be put in rectally or vaginally but she would recommend rectally.

Copenhagener · 20/01/2024 07:25

Hi everyone,

egg collection is tomorrow! Finally have a day off from injections, which I’m so happy about as ganirelix made me non-stop nauseous and caused me to vomit a few times. I finally managed to eat properly for the first time in 3 days yesterday.

Will pop back in tomorrow to let you know how it goes. It’s my first one.

Have a good weekend all :)

cbear1989 · 20/01/2024 10:03

@Blossomofhope ah we can count down together!! I did my last menupor when I got up so now have instructions for one more fymredal at 6pm and then trigger at 10pm... won't know what to do with myself doing no jabs tomorrow but def looking forward to a day off from it 🤣🤣 am sure you feel the same!! Enjoy a jab free Sunday tomorrow 🥰

@Eggsellenté welcome!! Hope youre feeling okay to get started, is this your first round?

@Copenhagener bless you sounds like you've had a tough time feeling awful your meds so glad you're feeling better! Enjoy a jab free day and sending so much luck for you for tomorrow, will be thinking of you!! xx

Sherr33 · 20/01/2024 17:06

@Eggsellenté hey. What protocol are you on? Will you also be taking Northisterone?

Bnichols89 · 20/01/2024 18:27

Hi everyone, I hope I’m not too late to join. I’m starting treatment on Monday when I start Norethisterone. It’s our first round of IVF so feeling nervous but ready to get started now.

Hi all,

Egg retrieval is done. I was the first to be seen at 8.30am, and I was super anxious. The sedative tablet they gave me did nothing at all. They agreed to put some sedative in my IV drip along with the morphine.

It was a mixed bag. My bladder hadn’t emptied enough, so they tried to empty it fully with a catheter before we started and that hurt like hell. I started involuntarily shaking and crying, which slowed things down until I’d had more morphine and sedative and they could continue.

The actual egg removal was fine! I had local anaesthetic and didn’t feel that beyond a tiny sting. Didn’t feel any the needle in the vaginal wall. The nurses and doctor were kind; but it was quite overwhelming having 5 people running around me. When I’m stressed I can’t really talk, so it was hard when they were trying to talk to me about the eggs coming out and show me. I ended up covering my face with a jumper and left my boyfriend to handle the talking in their own language. They must’ve thought I was so weird.

I was conscious and awake for it all, though a bit woozy.

I had 10 eggs ready, but unfortunately they couldn’t access two of them, so we ended up with 8 in total collected. The nurse was trying to contort my ovary to get access, and it was very unpleasant, so in the end they gave up on those two, which is a shame.

Here, they don’t inform you day-to-day about fertilisation, so next I’ll hear is Friday, when I’ll know how many Day 5s made it through. If we have one, I’ll have my transfer on Friday afternoon.

Came home and slept, and I’m luckily not in pain at the moment, just a little cramping.

cbear1989 · 21/01/2024 14:33

@Copenhagener amazing news, have been thinking of you today!! Sounds like you were super brave and you smashed it, and what a great result - we'll done you!!! how annoying that they don't give you the updates, hope this week doesn't drag too much for you 😘😘

I'm defo feeling anxious today for the morning! feel really sore and heavy in my stomach too but that's normal I guess. Slept so badly last night but I reckon it's my over active brain and the drugs overload from yesterday... nice to have no jabs today, and hopefully I manage a decent night's kip tonight ready for tomorrow.

One thing my hubby is curious about... when does he go off to do his sperm collection? And am guessing he can take his own, erm, material 🤣🤣 and he will just be in his own little room? Must be a lot of pressure for them, although I know really us ladies do have it a lot worse 🤣🙈

Natty2 · 21/01/2024 15:09

@Copenhagener sounds like you were an absolute trooper, Well done!! And great news about the eggs retrieved! Fingers crossed for you on Friday 🤞🤞

Hope the rest of the day has been ok

@cbear1989 hope you manage to have a good rest tonight! Will be thinking of you and @Blossomofhope tomorrow!

@cbear1989 Trigger went fine thanks. Feel quite uncomfortable today - so bloated. Feel a bit apprehensive for tomo but will be glad to get it out of the way. How are you feeling?

Copenhagener · 21/01/2024 16:02

Good luck to everyone having their ER’s tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you all.

cbear1989 · 21/01/2024 19:14

@Blossomofhope feeling pretty much identical to you 🤣🤣 just wanna get it done now!! Lots of luck for tomorrow for you too xxx

Thank you @Natty2 and hope you feel okay @Copenhagener ! xxx

Bnichols89 · 21/01/2024 19:58

Thanks for the tip @Sherr33 , I may also join the feb group as you’re right most of my treatment will be in February! I’m on Gonal-F, Gonarelix and Ovitrelle. Only really worried about the Gonarelix since the others are just pens!

Sherr33 · 21/01/2024 20:18

@Bnichols89 im on those to and progesterone but that'll be later on in treatment cycle. Im on 225 gonal f, i feel a bit funny watching any type of needle going in me. But yes they are simpler as just need to twist the pens to the correct dosage and inject.

Good luck to anyone going for EC

@Copenhagener my clinic is going to be the same where they don't give updates throughout after EC. You soldiered through very well. I can't imagine how daunting it can feel.

Natty2 · 21/01/2024 20:39

@Bnichols89 the ganirelix was ok in the end! It is a different needle and abit harder to go in but you'll be surprised how quickly you get used to it!

cbear1989 · 22/01/2024 11:51

Morning guys. All done, am so relieved - managed 9 eggs which I'm really happy with, fingers crossed that they progress through the week now! 🥰🥰

@Blossomofhope hope you went okay this morning too, and you aren't feeling too bad now! ♥️♥️

Natty2 · 22/01/2024 12:28

@cbear1989 wonderful news! Hope you are feeling ok and fingers crossed for the rest of this week!
Hope you got on ok @Blossomofhope

I've just had scan 3 I've gone from 14 to 22 follicles over the weekend and now two measuring 21mm
And about 6 hovering between 12-16mm. Should have last scan on Wednesday so hopefully the others will catch up ready for EC on Friday! 🤞🤞 Explains why I've been feeling very "full and heavy" over the weekend!

cbear1989 · 22/01/2024 12:36

@Natty2 ah that's amazing news!! Well done your little eggies!! xx

Blossomofhope · 22/01/2024 13:03

@cbear1989 9 is a great number!! I had 6 collected but I’m pretty confident only 4 are in the running. I really hope the fertilisation numbers are good when we get the call tomorrow. Are you off work today & tomo?

@Natty2 That’s great, this is your week too!

cbear1989 · 22/01/2024 14:08

Ah that's amazing @Blossomofhope , well done!! how are you feeling now? I've just had some cake with a cuppa haha bit of comfort today after weeks of stress and being healthy ish 🤣🤣

Yep off today and tomorrow, looking forward to some chilled time tbh, what about you?

I'm expecting a call before 2pm tomorrow with news on how they're getting on,fingers crossed for us all eh!

Blossomofhope · 22/01/2024 14:28

@cbear1989 ooh that’s good you get a call today. My clinic call in the morning to share fertilisation details.

I’m also chilling on the couch in front of the fire with a cuppa. I might work tomo as I have a meeting I need to be on - or maybe I’ll join just for that call, I’ll see.

Im really trying to be positive but also so scared of this round not going our way. After 1 chemical, 4 iuis and 1 failed ivf I just need a bit of luck now 😅😂
