I'm 38, currently in a 3 cycle Natural Modfied ICSI package and nearing transfer stage.

I have a consultation with them so as yet to have it confirmed

Thanks @VSRCM got 4 eggs which is the best result out of all 5 collections, so fingers crossed it results in embryos!

Good news @Doxy21 ! 🍀Crossing my fingers for you! Keep us updated, I actually miss having my eggs collected reading all the stories here!

@VSRCM thanks for asking, got 7 eggs. Not sure how many are mature but the best number wise to date! Will see what tomorrow holds

@Doxy21 @Sunflower360 those are both great results! I still haven't had a day 1 call. I am extremely stressed.

My egg collection was chaotic today - the anaesthetist came in the ask me questions and the nurse had put someone else’s notes in my room. Luckily he checked. And then as I was about to go into theatre they checked the tag they put on my wrist and it was the wrong person’s too. I’ve never had that before!

Also - I was just having a conversation with my husband.

he thinks a 3 day transfer is no different to a 5 based on success - he’s adamant he read that in Create’s literature. He was under the impression if a day 3 is struggling they will leave it to see if it gets to day 5 and does better and then transfer it. So he thought day 3 transfer is better.

i thought that they transfer day 3 as a contingency in case it might not make it to day 5 - as they say it might perform better after transfer, but the ideal is day 5 as at that point they know it’s capable of being a blast.

Does anyone know which is correct? I’m pretty sure my thinking is - otherwise why would my old clinic flat out refuse to transfer day 3?!

@Doxy21 does Create do day 3 transfers routinely? Or do they only do it if very few embryos are formed?

Also, can anyone tell me around what time a day 1 call is expected? I thought morning but obviously running late already. Should i worry?

@Doxy21 that sounds like a serious case of medical negligence!!

From what I've read - Day 3s are less stable because they are only at cleavage stage, so the possibility of them arresting is higher. Whilst they are able to tell if a day 3 is of good quality they can't grade them as accurately as they can for day 5s (no cells yet to determine fetus and placenta grade).

So, I think Create puts in a provisional day 3 if you have x number of embryos (not sure what number determines that), I had 8, they booked me in on day 3, called me on day 3 to let me know how they are looking. I still had 8 on day 3 and they couldnt decide which one was best to put in so they said to wait till day 5. I had 3 left on day 5, so I had 1 to transfer and 2 to freeze. My assumption is if you still have 4 on day 3, they might ask if you want to wait and see what happens on day 5.

All that said, I have also read that the best environment for a day-3 is the womb.. so it comes down to how many times you want to have a frozen transfer i.e., would you want to freeze all on day 3?

Thanks ladies, curious to see what the update is following today. @jolly86 glad you got your call back, that's later than normal for a day 1 update as its normally morning depending on when your collection was. Good to hear the update was good and fingers crossed for day 3 transfer

@Doxy21 are you looking like you're having a day 3 transfer possibly?

Are you both on Progesterone now?

@Sunflower360 i think day 3 but will see. Yes im on the pessaries and prednisone from today

@Sunflower360 yes utrogestan for me and it is not convenient at all. It seems like a day 3 for me, but I know that day 5 is better so it's a shame we don't have more eggs.

@jolly86 5 is a good number, were you expecting more?

@Doxy21 that's good that they've pencilled you in for Sunday just in case. Sounds like it was quite chaotic this morning if they put the wrong band on you, hence why they ask us probably about 4 or 5 times throughout the prep for the prcedure to confirm name/DOB

@Sunflower360 i have 3 fertilised out of 5 eggs. I wasn’t expecting more no. But last time I had a day 5 transfer it doesn’t look like this time will be possible

@jolly86 keep positive, I know its hard. I had 2 eggs collected last time and got a day 5 to freeze so its certainly possible with 3

@Sunflower360 was it with create? I got impression that they tend to do day 3 transfers more often than where I was before

@jolly86 3 is good. I'm keeping everything crossed that you get a good day 3 call and they're all doing well. I wouldn't necessarily think you'll be doing a day 3 transfer.
