@Ks2023 we did a price comparison when we were choosing what to do - for 1 cycle mild it was around £8k. For 1 cycle natural it was around £6.5k

VenusStarr · 05/12/2023 19:57

@Ks2023 I've got it as £6140 but that doesn't include meds.

Thank you @Sunflower360 I've pinned all my hopes on getting this nurse appointment but in reality it is just a part of the process.
I'm like you, definitely will be triple checking everything when we get to egg collection. Wish we were starting sooner, but its not long now.
I already think I've got the reputation as 'that' patient, haha!

My Dr did say he might want me to stim longer this time, I did 9 days previously but that kind of does align with my natural cycles as I ovulate on cd10 so my follicles seem to grow quick, I just don't have many.

With my FET, first was medicated, so estrogen from cd2, scan was cd8 I think, was up to 8mm by cd12 so planned transfer on cd19, I had a progesterone blood test on transfer day. Thats when it all went to plan. Was totally textbook.
I have done low dose stims FET due to not responding to estrogen so my Dr wants to do this again if I need a FET, so that ended up as a collection cycle so I was there every other day to monitor, so it was like a normal stim cycle in the end. And I needed bloods checking etc. Are you looking at a medicated?

Glad you have a consultation booked and hope the timings work out. X

VenusStarr · 05/12/2023 20:09

When did everyone sign consents? We haven't had ours yet? Its on my lost to ask tomorrow too x

Sunflower360 · 05/12/2023 20:10

Thanks @VenusStarr in all honesty I really don't know, not done any research in FET's. So it just the one scan for medicated FET and no bloods (bar Progesterone)? What is natural modified FET? Is the idea just to let your natural dominant follicle ovulate and then transfer? Sorry so many questions!

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 05/12/2023 20:16

No, that's a fully medicated FET @Sunflower360 , so the estrogen suppresses your ovulation /follicle growth. I'm thinking maybe I had one scan a bit earlier to check my ovaries were quiet, but definitely by day 12 my lining was what they wanted and the transfer was booked. So I had the scan on the Monday, transfer was booked for the following Monday. They told me the day to start progesterone (5 days before). I had a call from embryology the day before transfer confirm they were thawing one and the transfer time and to have a full bladder etc. I asked for a picture of the embryo so they made a note.

My low dose stims was similar to a natural modified transfer so did have bloods and a trigger injection

VenusStarr · 06/12/2023 11:44

Just had my nurse consult, was worrying for nothing. She was so lovely and everything is in place 😊 she's pulled it all together for me, so I've got a clear plan. She's sorting our consent forms and I'm just waiting for our invoice and we're good to go! Countdown is on 🥰

How's everyone getting on? X

Sunflower360 · 06/12/2023 12:02

@VenusStarr that's good to hear. When will you start stims do you think?

I'm ok, injection free day today then collection tomorrow, I didn't have a scan yesterday before trigger so I am wondering how it'll go. Going in with zero expectations in all honesty.

❤️ @Sunflower360 I hope you get a pleasant surprise at egg collection tomorrow. Are you working during this or having time off?

Period is due around 28 December 😊 the nurse said they're all in throughout other than Christmas day, bless them.
Just waiting for the invoice but had a call to confirm everything and hadn't realised the blood package had gone up by so much! She said if we need icsi for the 3 rounds they'll honour the 3 cycle package price so we will get it for a discount even though were paying separately. Going to make sure dh is on it with his diet and exercise and we can hopefully do ivf to keep the costs down 🙃 just waiting for my medication costs, just going to do pay each month in case we change my protocol. I don't want meds I won't use. Plus it'll give us chance to spread the costs out. My brain is busy doing sums! Haha. X

Sunflower360 · 06/12/2023 12:40

@VenusStarr thanks, will keep you all posted. I'm off tomorrow but otherwise still working. I can WFH on certain days and have flexibility for appts, thankfully.

Pay as you go sounds good, then you can manage accordingly. 28th will come round before you know it, especially with Christmas in between as a slight distraction!

Are there any other investigative tests that anyone would suggest in readiness for a FET? I've had the miscarriage tests that showed I had thyroid antibodies so will be on Prednisolone. Thyroid levels appeared normal in last test 2 months ago but I will test again in the coming weeks to ensure it still is. Prolactin, Karyotype was also done. Also looking to have a Hysteroscopy.

Good afternoon everyone. Had egg collection today, 5 eggs collected. Will wait to hear tomorrow and then see if there's a day 3 or 5 transfer.

Doxy21 · 06/12/2023 15:38

Yay @VenusStarr

that’s amazing @jolly86 - I thought they always transfer on day 3 in case don’t make it to day 5, is that incorrect?

jolly86 · 06/12/2023 15:56

@Doxy21 thank you. I had day 5 transfer on NHS, when I had 7 eggs collected. You mean Create generally prefer day 3 transfers? I guess with low numbers it’s more likely to have day 3.

Doxy21 · 06/12/2023 16:55

@jolly86 yes I thought they freeze or transfer on day 3 in case no day 5 but makes sense they don’t do that if you’re got lots to choose from. At my old clinic they wouldn’t freeze or transfer day 3, had to be day 5

VenusStarr · 06/12/2023 16:57

Good news @jolly86 is that how many follicles you had? I know you were worried about your biggest one. 🙏 for tomorrow's call. How are you feeling?

@Doxy21 with my fresh cycle I was provisionally booked in for a day 3 as had 3 embryos developing but by day 3 all were still in the running and were good quality, so they pushed to day 5. So I think it does depend on how many and what quality they are.
How are you feeling about tomorrow?

@Sunflower360 when I had my hysteroscopy last year, I got them to do a biopsy for endometritis at the same time, was about £200 more for that.
Have you ever done any microbiome tests? It might not be essential but they might recommend testing?

Is anyone taking NAC? My acupuncturist said I should go on it and just wondering what you're all taking?

jolly86 · 06/12/2023 17:07

@Doxy21 @VenusStarr I guess it all depends how many fertilize and look ok by day 3. They didn't say definitely it's day 3 or 5 so it could go either way. But with NHS from the beginning they had said day 5. I am not sure which one is better, I get that if you had many embryos day 5 is best of course but with low numbers I guess day 3 gives them a better chance to develop inside the womb?

@VenusStarr I was expecting 5 yes, and indeed my estrogen was just over 5000 so it is accurate. Yes I was worried about the big one, the Dr said they did get it in shape but then I guess it doesn't mean it will fertilize. Stressful wait starts.

Good luck @Doxy21 x

Sunflower360 · 06/12/2023 19:35

@jolly86 that is good news and fingers crossed for your day 1 update tomorrow. Are you doing single fresh cycles? Sorry if you've already said

@VenusStarr what are microbiome tests?

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 06/12/2023 19:48

🙏 @jolly86 it's all sounding positive so far. Hope you're feeling ok after the prodding.

@Sunflower360 it's checking for any signs of infections or things being out of balance with bacteria. Some people swear by it. I've had it checked and not had any issues. But I think if you're prone to thrush it might be worth checking. Depending what's found, you can take pre and probiotics. I'm not sure it's essential though.

jolly86 · 06/12/2023 21:30

@VenusStarr thanks I felt ok after collection although went in very stressed.

@Sunflower360 I planned a single cycle and fresh transfer so fingers crossed. It is not easy with low egg numbers.

Doxy21 · 07/12/2023 06:38

Good luck today @Sunflower360

Sunflower360 · 07/12/2023 07:21

Good luck girls❤️

VSRCM · 07/12/2023 08:17

Good luck all! And yes, remind them to do ICSI if that's the route advised! Dont want any eggs wasted!

Doxy21 · 07/12/2023 08:20

Thanks @jolly86 and @Ks2023
