Thank you @Sunflower360 nothing yet.

I've not tested it out in an ivf cycle, but I have done an ovulation induction and tested at 9 days past trigger and still got a good line that was negative at 12 days past. I also tested at 14 days past once and got a faint line but unsure if that was trigger or an early chemical.
I tend to like being in a bubble when I've done a transfer.

Sunflower360 · 05/03/2024 10:35

@VenusStarr hope you get your update soon, the wait is always annoying.

I think I just like knowing more than anything then be more prepared if it hasn't worked if that makes sense and just plan ahead...but will see how it goes.

Still no news. I can't imagine it will be good now, it's too late in the day. Feel like they've forgotten 😔 strangely, I don't feel upset or anxious about them calling, it's just a formality.

We're on holiday next week and I'm going to boil my eggs in lots of hot tub sessions! And allow myself some wine and just spend some quality time with my husband - this week has been intense.

Sunflower360 · 05/03/2024 13:04

@VenusStarr good plan. Not good that they haven't rang though, maybe their giving them more time? You're more patient than me though, I would have rang about 10 times by now!

I had some wine over the weekend (just 2 small glasses) but won't have any now I have surged and working to transfer. There is only so much we can do and a part of me is convinced it may not take, or lead to a chemical perhaps because my last pregnancy was a chemical.

It didn't make it.

Doxy21 · 05/03/2024 13:52

I’m so sorry @VenusStarr

Sunflower360 · 05/03/2024 13:58

@VenusStarr I'm so sorry 😞 Were they able to give you any information at all?

OP posts:
Plantymcplant · 05/03/2024 14:12

@VenusStarr so sorry your embryo didn't make it.

VenusStarr · 05/03/2024 14:14

I couldn't really take much in, she kept talking about my good cycle. She said they'd hope it would've developed more but it was still a 1, early blast. She wasn't entirely sure it hadn't arrested, or part had stopped growing and then was trying again?

So the 7cell we have frozen is also likely bad.

She couldn't tell me whether its sperm, eggs or both. She just kept saying that we get good fertilisation, so they're talking to each other ok.

When she heard about my history her tone changed abd she just kept saying 'I'm so sorry, God bless you, I'll pray for you' 😪 which makes me feel pretty hopeless but I guess she's just trying to be kind.

Got my Dr appointment tomorrow.

Sunflower360 · 05/03/2024 14:44

@VenusStarr that's so hard and no matter how nice someone is about it still doesn't stop it from hurting. I do feel that the Drs only know so much, science still has a way to go where fertility is concerned- you've got to do what feels right to you I think. Hope you're ok

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 05/03/2024 14:45

@VenusStarr is your appt with Dr Datta?

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 05/03/2024 15:01

Yeh @Sunflower360 he said last time it's my egg quality. The embryologist said they looked OK and the fact we got good fertilisation doesn't make sense.
But my view is this clinic/company say they specialise in older women and egg quality, so I'm interested in what they want to do differently. For me it's pointless doing mild again on the same meds.

Sunflower360 · 05/03/2024 16:05

@VenusStarr perhaps ICSI with natural modfied is worth considering? I'm not sure how strong the evidence is, but I think I have read somewhere that sperm tales over in terms of embryo development from day 3 so maybe selecting sperm could help?

OP posts:
jolly86 · 05/03/2024 16:31

@VenusStarr i am so sorry but again this is likely to happen when we have 3 fertilised eggs. And yes you did have cycles where you had most develop into good embryos. So I would like to think this is bad luck about this cycle and the next one should be different.

VenusStarr · 05/03/2024 17:19

I don't know @jolly86 3 cycles with nothing to show for it feels like more than bad luck. I think I'm fighting against biology now. My eggs have given up and the ones that still turn up needn't have bothered.

PICSI is available for us @Sunflower360 So I think I'm going to do that on the final go. Shame there's nothing to try and find a golden egg. Maybe the embryologist praying for me will help 😒 on a positive note, at least I can go back to exercise again, going tomorrow night abd hoping it lifts my mood. Feeling quite dark at the moment.

jolly86 · 05/03/2024 21:16

@VenusStarr the odds are really against us at our age unfortunately , and it is expected that we may take many rounds.

Jennaqua · 06/03/2024 08:36

@VenusStarr Just read your message threads. So sorry to hear about the outcome. I will keep praying for everyone.

Sunflower360 · 06/03/2024 08:55

@VenusStarr hope your call with the Dr goes ok today

@Doxy21 hope your transfer goes ok too

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 06/03/2024 13:15

Hope all has gone well @Doxy21 🙏

Thank you @Sunflower360 Had my appointment. It was ok, got a new plan. He doesn't feel natural modified will be good for me as you start later and my cycles are short and I ovulate on cd10, so starting late would likely mean just 1 egg.
He's not sure about PICSI but we can decide to do it on the day, but there is a risk that my eggs are fragile and might not like it.
Going to still do mild, but start low dose of 150 of menopur instead but they'll monitor my lh levels as this also contains it. Have only ever done FSH / bemfola. He said I still had a follicle flare last cycle, despite estrogen priming, can't remember what that means.

So will estrogeb prime again, start cd2 injections, scan around cd5/6 and just see. Will definitely be doing a day 3 transfer, either of our frostie or a fresh one. Meds are going to be expensive this time as will be on lubion and clexane as well. Looking forward to the bruises.
Anything else, we'll just take to day 5. If I have a fresh embryo (which he thinks we will), I think I'll defrost the 7cell and grow to day 5.

He said its age related egg quality and you can't really fight against that.

Sunflower360 · 06/03/2024 13:56

@VenusStarr good to hear you have a plan. Will you have a break for 1 month and then start?

OP posts:
Doxy21 · 06/03/2024 14:24

@VenusStarr im glad they’ve given you a personalised plan.

im waiting to see how my day 3 is doing. Went for acupuncture yesterday and just recounting 5 egg collections and 5 embryos with 4 transfers out loud with an ivf journey of almost 3 years was painful. I almost broke down. You could kinda tell she thought I had no hope. Transfer is tomorrow and she told me to come back a week after transfer to help with implantation but I thought implantation of a day 5 was like the day after transfer?!

I saw someone comment that time is against us. I have a friend a few months older who is having her third. They were going to last year but timing wasnt right. Now it is and they are pregnant instantly. Seems like it’s genuinely luck of the draw.

Such bullshit that it’s so easy for some!

jolly86 · 06/03/2024 15:11

@Doxy21 yes I said our difficulty is mainly age related, I believe and yes for some people it seems to not matter but there are many many people who are over 35 who have difficulty, it's not a coincidence. Did you already have your transfer, and then went for acupuncture? fingers crossed xx

@VenusStarr I didn't get what you mean: if you get a fresh one you will grow your day 3 to day 5? can you explain. is this next one going to be a round where you do a fresh transfer? I thought you were going for a 3 round plan. xx

Sunflower360 · 06/03/2024 15:16

@Doxy21 yeah this fertility journey is pretty crap, I'm a year down the IVF route and only just about to transfer.... and still its a long way to go to know if its worked or not. Agree about your acupuncture too.... if she us suggesting implantation then that could be in the few days after transfer

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 06/03/2024 15:29

Hi @jolly86 I've got a day 3 frozen embryo (7cell, grade 2 - my Dr said that grade 1 and 2 are good quality, so thats a positive, if anyone has similar).

But the hope is my final cycle will still give us at least 1 day 3 embryo, so I'll transfer that fresh (or if they're not good quality defrost the frozen one).
But I may transfer a fresh embryo and then just defrost the day 3 anyway and see if it makes it to day 5 And then freeze anythung that majes day 5. Does that make sense?
Definitely no double transfer, he's worried if I miscarry I'll lose both. I was up for putting a fresh and my frozen back in together.

the way I feel at the moment, is I just want this over, so anything left let's just see what they do. But I also know the emotional side of me will want to freeze any potentials on day 3, but I need to draw a line I think.

I forgot to mention, I asked about my lining the cycle just gone and it was 9.4mm! Never been that good. So I just need 1 good embryo to put in 🙏

Sunflower360 · 06/03/2024 15:38

@VenusStarr that is good. Interesting about double transfer, I got advised that too about miscarriage risks and losing both.

My transfer is Saturday morning, kind of glad its in the morning so its done otherwise I'd be thinking about it all day!
