FET/IVF/ICSI - October 2033

Lauralozzle · 23/09/2023 13:09

Anyone due to start cycle/have transfer in October jump on board!

Little history:

TTC our first. Trying for 4 years. Officially unexplained but I only have one ovary that responds/works. Fertilisation issues. Positive Sperm Oxidative Stress Test (likely DNA Frag). So it’s really a bit of a mix.

Dec 22/Jan 23 - First ICSI cycle. 8 eggs, 6 mature, 2 fertilised. One poor blast to transfer. Nothing to freeze. BFN.

July 23 - Second ICSI cycle. Using AOA & ZyMot chip. 8 eggs, 8 mature, 4 fertilised. One fresh to transfer and 2 to freeze. BFN.

Oct 23 - First FET scheduled.

Currently waiting for my period to start so that FET cycle can start. Should start beginning of Oct, so FET likely towards end of the month.

@ThinkPink37 Good number of follicles there! Drink lots of water! Hopefully you won’t need a FET but please don’t let us doing FETS put you off!! If your body needs rest, that’s the most important thing!

Trigger on Monday, so egg collection Wednesday! How are you feeling about egg collection? I didn’t mind it at all. Lovely snooze!

I don’t have much to report. Second day of pessaries, I’m really hoping my body responds to the progesterone. Still early days but I’m waiting for my boobs to get very sore and heavy, a sure sign it’s working.

KI19 · 19/10/2023 13:41

@ThinkPink37 I had 24 eggs collected so had to have a freeze all, my clinic said anything over 20 is an automatic freeze all because of the risk. Though I was dissapointed at the time it was 100% the right decision as it gave my body time to recover for a month. Also whilst the drugs aren't the nicest on a FET I still found stimming worse! Hope your feeling okay.

@Lauralozzle thanks for the well wishes on the scan my lining is at 9.4mm so really happy, transfer booked for next Thursday, as they were too busy the Wednesday. So hard being SO patient all the time...!!😂exciting that so many of us are egg collecting/transfering next week.

Custard7891 · 19/10/2023 13:44

Hope everyone is doing well, and welcome to any new posters 😊

After our very low success last time, this round we have ended up with 8 good grade A-C embryos (by day 6), and they have now all been PGT-A biopsied and frozen. Just awaiting the results of the biopsies now, apparently takes around 2 weeks. Once we know if we have any euploids we will look into doing a frozen embryo transfer. It's a great number to start with, but we're expecting at least a third to be abnormal from the stats I've read.

Lauralozzle · 19/10/2023 13:52

@KI19 Yay! I had a feeling your lining would catch up! Next Thursday will be here before you know it! There are a lot of us transferring next week! It’ll be a busy thread!

@Custard7891 8 blasts!!! Wow! 🤩 Fingers crossed a good number are euploids! 2 weeks isn’t that long to wait! I’m so chuffed for you!

Custard7891 · 19/10/2023 13:58

Thank you @Lauralozzle 😊 💓 I know, it's an amazing result. Especially given the poor result las time. I've got everything crossed for the results! We thought I might need to do another round of stims to collect more, but if we still have a decent number after these biopsies then we may not.

Melisss · 19/10/2023 13:58

Any of you ladies done the long protocol? I am on day 8 of Buserelin and still no sign of period. Was supposed to be here 3 days ago and nothing, also no signs it s on the way. I read something that the drugs might delay it but i`m a bit worried. Anyone experienced this?

I feel everybody is so far ahead in their treatments on this group...but i am keeping my fingers crossed for everyone that all goes well 😃

Lauralozzle · 19/10/2023 14:11

@Melisss On my long protocol round in Dec/Jan I started buserelin CD21 - period came 9 days after.

Thanks @Lauralozzle ! Waiting game then 🙄

IVFDublin · 19/10/2023 15:08

Back from my egg collection this morning - got 7, which is more than I initially expected so am happy with that outcome! Now just the countdown to hearing how they’re all getting on…

Feeling a bit crampy now today, and definitely a bit sleepy, but otherwise grand!

@GabbyGal good luck tomorrow - they’re so lovely for the procedure, I felt very looked after!

IVFKinster · 19/10/2023 15:14

@KI19 look at your lining smashing that 8mm target!! So glad it's up where it needs to be and beyond!

@Custard7891 fab results so far congratulations! Fingers crossed for the next update.

@IVFDublin great news on the egg collection! I hope you're feeling okay and have got nice relaxing things planned for yourself.

Just re. FETs as much as I'm moaning about all the meds, if I had gone straight into a transfer after my egg collection I would have had a terrible two weeks because I felt like death. My body absolutely wasn't ready for a transfer and if I had been given a choice, even knowing the FET process and how it was going to make me feel, I would still have gone for a freeze all. Sometimes it really is the best thing for you and for any potential baby 😊 that didn't stop me feeling sad about not having a fresh transfer, but I really did know it was for the best in my situation.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 19/10/2023 15:32

Great news @KI19, @Custard7891 and @IVFDublin!

Nothing to report here, the norethisterone is keeping AF away successfully. Just waiting waiting waiting.

Lauralozzle · 19/10/2023 15:34

@IVFDublin That’s excellent news! 7 eggs is great. I bet you’re a bit crampy. I just slept pretty much the whole day after my collection.

Fingers crossed for excellent fertilisation news tomorrow!

I’m really nervous about talking to my work about taking time off for egg collection, recovery and embryo transfer. I only started the job last month so they might be annoyed.

Melisss · 19/10/2023 15:56

@IVFDublin great news! 😊hope you have a speedy recovery

@Hopingforno2in2023 do you plan on telling them about the IVF? I understand it`s difficult to ask for days off when you just started. Do you have the option to work from home? Ideally you would want to rest as much of possible of course.
I just told my boss that for the next period I might need time off here and there to go for certain appointments because I am having some medical treatment. I said I was going to make the hours up and he was fine with it. But he is quite understanding anyway.

IVFDublin · 19/10/2023 16:11

Thanks all - having a very chilled day with naps, Netflix, and a dominos lined up for tonight 👌🏻

@Lauralozzle how are you getting on with the pessaries? My friend describes them as the fizzy knickers, I’m starting tomorrow and dreading it 😂

@Hopingforno2in2023 I did the same as @Melisss - I didn’t tell them about the IVF, but just said I’d be in and out for medical reasons. My work is very understanding but I didn’t want them to know as was worried they’d subconsciously keep it in mind in terms of promotions etc.! Could you try speak privately to someone in HR? I feel you’re pain though it’s definitely tough.

I have to say, it’s so nice having this little community! I can’t remember who was getting emotional about it (maybe @IVFKinster ?) but feeling it too! Must be all the hormones 😂

Millie89xx · 19/10/2023 16:18

Hi new to this awaiting for AF to start any day now then starting merifort anyone else there about ?

Millie89xx · 19/10/2023 16:20

How was egg collection ? I’m so nervous about that part

GabbyGal · 19/10/2023 16:45

@Custard7891 wow that’s a great result!

@KI19 Great to have a transfer date, how exciting!

@IVFDublin I’d be delighted with 7 eggs, that’s great, so pleased for you! Glad to hear you’re feeling ok afterwards. I’ve been really anxious about tomorrow so thanks for reassuring me, I feel much better now 😊

@Hopingforno2in2023 If you can get away with telling your job you have medical appointments you could do that as @Melisss and @IVFDublin suggested. I actually told my boss I was doing IVF because I have a good relationship with him, and because I’m very lucky that my company has a fertility policy and provides paid leave for fertility treatment so I knew it wouldn’t be an issue.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 19/10/2023 17:16

Thanks all for the advice! I don’t know why I am nervous as I am a supply catering assistant in a school and can just quit with immediate effect if they kick up a fuss. I was a SAHM for two years before this so could just go back to that. As I work in a school I can’t just take leave unfortunately. I don’t mind being honest as the managerial staff I have never met, they are based in a different town and I never see them so I don’t mind them knowing stuff about me. I just hate any tricky situations.

Lauralozzle · 19/10/2023 17:16

@IVFDublin They’re not that bad. Bit gross using back passage but no leakage, so I’m actually finding them better. No fizzy knickers here!

I am tired all the time at the moment. Not sure if it’s because of work, drugs, or the thought of tomorrow’s work trip (bus at 6:00 and then two trains to get to Birmingham for 8:00AM.)

Well done on the collection @IVFDublin and great numbers of follicles @ThinkPink37!

Day 7 of stims for me today and had an almighty migraine this afternoon. Was in the office so came back home and tried to take it a bit easy

biscuitsndtea · 19/10/2023 18:12

I had my second scan today, they asked me to continue the same drugs. Booked in for the third scan for saturday. Initially it was supposed to be on sunday.

Will there be any more scans or just 3 scans before collection ? My work doesnt know, so worried if there will be more scans after Day10

Lauralozzle · 19/10/2023 18:45

@biscuitsndtea I had 3 scans this time! Was ready by the third scan and trigger was the next day!

@Custard7891 @IVFDublin great results from you two…you give me hope that I might have a better outcome when I egg retrieve/create embryos next time.

@GabbyGal good luck tomorrow, you’ve got this…egg retrieval wasn’t so terrible for me as I retrieved only 4 so you might feel a bit more than I did, just remember to keep hydrating, have a seed/heating bag if you feel crampy and paracetamol.

Ladies with lining issues, I am so happy to hear my mental screaming at your uterus has worked a bit 😂

Ladies still stimming, feeling a bit uncomfortable after 5+ days of meds is completely normal…please, communicate with your clinic if there are any major concerns/side effects that are unexpected…otherwise, just try to take it easy, eat as healthy as possible, drink at least 2,5-3L of water a day.

Ladies with bum bullets, pessaries, etc…I hope you can see the light at the end of the tunnel 🫠 I mean, I hope transfer date is not long now and that you will get a BFP soon and that you can set a calendar for when these sort of meds will no longer be needed 😬🤗 I will certainly dread them when it’s my turn.

I am all back to my normal activities after my retrieval on Monday. I am still being careful (though one of my students excitedly tapped his feet near my ovaries during relaxation lesson today)…mindful as the clinic said 2 weeks to avoid high impact as there is risk of twisting. But honestly, almost no pain since procedure…didn’t even had to take paracetamol. No bleeding, no nothing…wonderful recovery, I suppose, that can be viewed as the benefit of only 5eggies (4frozen) taken out. Next for me is a review consultation on the 10th of November to decide next protocol, cycle to commence.

I admire all of you ladies that have done back to back/continuous treatment for so long. I like to think that I have a strong mindset/positive mentality but I am aware that I personally wouldn’t cope well with going month on ends doing these treatments. Hats off to all of you that do it and still work, have houses/partners to look after, etc

MoonlightDreamer · 19/10/2023 19:21

Hi all. Currently day 8 of stims. I strangely feel today like all the side effects have gone. No tenderness, no bloating, pain or tiredness. Would have thought I'd be getting more uncomfortable as time goes on
